Some people say how it looks does not matter. Nothing could be further from the truth. For gods sake it's in the name of our trade Plumb. I have seen so many hacks who just slap pipes in any old way, bend pipe, or just odd angles. Yes it may work but I have been referred to customers who have seen the installation and liked what they saw. Just like the uniforms you wear how to leave the finished job matters and shows the customer you care about what you are doing for them and that adds to the value of what the customer is paying for. I have received messages from customers who had their oil companies who maintain the boilers threw their oil contracts ask who did the installation and to tell them to tell me nice job. I have had electricians Say I need to get more material or do things differently because they do not want to make the wiring look sloppy. Make the Trades Great again and keep up the good work Mike and Daniel.
Sorry but plumbing is a derivative of pumice,old Latin for lead, remember the old plumbers poured lead joints. Coming from a old plumber who can still pour a lead joints when needed

Basic simple boiler install looks good 👍🏻 only thing I’m going to nitpick is that there is no magnetic filter on the return. Using those ECM pumps is a great way to save money for the homeowner but protect your installs, ferrous metals from the block of the boiler will over time get pulled into those pumps and kill them, magna clean is the product you’d be looking for. Or just stick with standard pumps.

question: for the wholesale plumbing supply houses, do you need a plumbers license or will a general contractors license do? my local menards and lowes are limited on what hydronic parts and brands they carry.

We didn’t do one of them Weil McLain boilers for a while. We totally forgot about the 1/2 hole at the top. And we couldn’t figure out where it was leaking from. Finally we remember and installed an air valve.
I just got a cga4 but looks like a very similar set up to the cga5. Appreciate the walk through of your set up thats very helpful. Keep up the good work boss!

Thank you for helping them out!! My old furnace and air conditioning unit lasted me 30+ years. I got help with a new furnace, air conditioning unit, and tankless water heater. Although, I don't know how often, that I should flush the tankless water heater? I'll probably let a professional do it.

Hi Mikey Pipes! I’m looking at the BX from the zone manager to the boiler just kind of floating there in the wind?
That tapping is for your auto vent and is required. These boilers rust out and fail early because air gets trapped in the top of the heat exchanger (no, the supply tapping is not the highest spot).
FYI. That tapping on top of the boiler is for a old school steel expansion tank.
you could use a regular "jumbo size" switch plate for the boiler switches and your oversize stickers should fit without trimming, should be red/labeled enough to suffice for any code inspections. lol

I'd have ran the support rod from the floor up tot he manifold/circulators, instead of hanging for the ceiling. but the only reason is to help eliminate possible noise/vibration. in the end, either way works!

Mike, can you explain your reasoning for putting ISO flanges with purges if you put iso valves with purges on the return anyway? Do you purge from the return or from the feed? Just curious cause I saw another one of your installs set up the same way. If you purge from where the pumps are does it purge the boiler just as good as if you were purging from the return side? I guess in theory it doesn’t matter where you purge from I guess the air will work its way out right?

Hey i notice on your hvac videos you be using stay brite 8 solder , my question is do you use stay bright 8 on compressors
tighten the pressure relief valve 180 degrees and then tighten the elbow 90degrees so you can unscrew the tube so when you replace blowoff you dont have to cut the tube

Clean install. I like the 45's. 90's are for guys who don't know how to use 45's, and couplings are for guys that can't measure pipe correctly.

It was a boiler that originally ran on oil, but was then converted to gas with a different gun.
All he said was that it wasn't compatible, but not why.
It's an oil boiler that was converted to gas (with a burner conversion kit) and Mike doesn't do retrofit (most manufacturers don't like it )... I've seen a ton in a lifetime, they're a cheap way to convert to gas... Today's prices $2500 for burner vs 12-14,000 new boiler... It's all it what you can afford ...

Went on a call for one of our customers and we do oil and he got someone to put a gas conversion gun on it and it wasn’t working soon as I saw it I turned around and left

If you told her that isn’t a gas fired boiler, you sir are a hack. That is an oil boiler with a conversion burner that runs NG all day every day and absolutely is compatible. The manufacture of the cast boiler lists the oil burners it’s compatible with but conversion burners that meet the same specs as the oil burner is still comparable. There is nothing wrong with what she had and you charged her how much to gain her 2% in efficiency?
Ask Daniel what state Utah is in? Let’s see if he actually payed attention in high school.
