Bruh, I’ve seen Megadeth 9 times! You GOT TO see em live when they come around again! That was definitely back in the 90s when this album dropped. Their shows now are just a master class man, nothing but CLASS act. You should do something off their latest album Dystopia, they won the Grammy for best Metal Album with it! “The Threat is Real” or “Fatal Illusion” are bangers man!

I use to crowdsurf at Pantera and slayer shows quite a bit in high school and after since I was only 170 to 185. Now I'm a little older....43, and 245lbs or roughly 111kg for the rest of the world that uses the metric system, so I'm not going to make others hold my fat ass. My rule is if you are under 200lbs, go ahead. If you're over.....don't expect me to hold you and give myself a hernia

3:54 In the crowd, 1st row, in a black sleeveless shirt…
    Alice Cooper cameo.
Alice Cooper and Dave were really close friends; Alice took Dave under his wing and tried really hard to snap Dave out of his heroin, coke , speed, booze, fkin EVERYTHING spiral. It helped, I think. Dave was sober ahead of all the Metallica guys, and more importantly, despite barely winning out against THROAT CANCER, of all things, I think his voice just keeps improving, whilst James Hetfield (who HAD, until 1991, the PERFECT metal voice, and who was one of the top riff-writers of all time (till they just started phoning it in over the last decade).
If anyone needs proof that Dave now has the PERFECT metal voice, and it comes out EFFORTLESSLY, now, when-(let’s face it)-he occasionally used to sound like he was straining to have a big, painful dump…just look up Megadeth’s cover of the Dead Kennedy’ “Police Truck”. One of the first songs really explicitly written about police brutality. The lyrics are worth reading, because it’s so damn catchy, and both the original and the Megadeth versions sound so fantastic that if any of the lyrics do register, your first time listening, you’ll be like, “Waiiiiiiit a got-dang minute; did he just say what I think he just said?” And then you have to rewind. Or, at least, I did, ‘cause I’m in my 40s, and I first heard this song on a Dead Kennedys cassette tape. You have to, y’know, move yr finger on a display to go back.

Have crowd surfed at shows in small, but packed BASEMENTS, to small dive bars set up with an impromptu stage, to large theatres that had all the seats torn out, so there was no assigned seating. Who got to stand in thfront was all a matter of balls, and will, and determination, (and a little bit of muscle), but most importantly, a look on your face that said, ‘I’ve got some where to be. I know what i’m doing, and I’ve got to change a fuse in Dave’s amplifier. Otherwise, no bloody show. You want that? No? Then GTFO my way, kid.’
Or you can be a really gorgeous chick.
Anyroad, the stage dive is best done whilst one is drunk, but not sloppy or uncoordinated-else you might doo something stupid , like crash into the frontman.Ideally, if you’re drunk but do a big old bump -a line-sized bump-of coke, or your pharmaceutical uppers have just kicked in, you’re golden. You need to be running on straight adrenalin. I won’t lie: it’s best to keep yr wallet on a chain. It’s even better to leave it with someone you can trust. Me, though, I often went to shows alone. My friends all went on to do stupid stuff like have careers, and families, and interact with ‘society’ by which they don’t just mean ‘other people’- to be part of ‘society’ you also had to have soul-crushing job that sucked out all your creative energy, and human larva that destroyed the joy between themselves and their romantic partner, and who also sucked out whatever energy was left after the job.
The point is, I kept my wallet on a chain. I kept any cash inside a zippered pocket inside my battle vest, along with other ‘small valuables’.
Never had any of it stolen, never was assaulted or otherwise abused. 8/10, would do again.

My first stage dive was getting around the security at an Anthrax gig. But the best here in New Zealand was the regular 'Shihad' and 'Head Like a Hole' gigs back in the early nineties where it was just like this video. There were a few unspoken rules like picking each other up and not jumping feet first like that gonk in the braces. I swear the energy kept us safe for the most part. Worst I got was heavily winded (perhaps a broken rib) from some one landing on me before I could get up off the floor. Often going to work the next morning with aches and pains and severe whiplash, but with a big smile on my face. Great days :)

The only rule for stage diving or crowd surfing.......Don't be someone who weighs over 200 pounds. Just make sure you are able to do it without hurting yourself or other people in the crowd. The best and safest way is to jump and turn your body in the air and try to land on your back. The crowd can catch you easier if you come at them on your back. Although, it doesn't matter now since I think you are right that they don't allow people to get on stage anymore, which is fine by me. I personally never cared for all that stage diving or crowd surfing shit. BTW I love your Megadeth reactions and hope you continue to make more.

This video was actually made for the documentary series The decline of western civilization part 2: the metal years, released in 1988. Its a great documentary on the whole hair metal scene back in those days. Megadeth is at the end of it and come off like heroes saving the day since they didn’t conform to that trend and stayed true which is why they are still standing after almost 35 years.

This wasn’t a real Megadeth show. It was a fake Megadeth show assembled for the video. I mean, maybe they’re REALLY playing and singing the song, but the audio was overdubbed with audio from the studio track. If you really want to see them play this track live, I strongly recommend “Megadeth - In My Darkest Hour, from Rude Awakening.” And while you’re doing songs from that performance, you ever been with a woman you were so crazy about that you’d do just about anything for her, to the point you bloody near well forgot who you are? I did, once. Once-if you’re smart-is the only chance you need to set up ALL KINDS of barriers to make sure another one never gets through. Dave wrote a song a bout a girl like this. It’s one of their best live concert performances EVER. “Megadeth - She-Wolf - live, Rude Awakening.”

As far as stage diving and crowd surfing, I never cared for it myself. I go to concerts to listen to the music and watch the band perform. I still make sure I try to catch anyone who comes my way because the metal community actually does care and we look out for each other in the pit. I'm willing to bet that someone picked that guy up if he wasn't caught right away, brushed him off, and made sure he was okay.

No, this was from a video from the late 80's called "The Decline of the Western Civilization" which featured a bunch of shit hair metal bands that never amounted to anything. In my opinion, and Megadeth's opinion, Megadeth should have never been associated with the other bands that were featured in this video. I can only guess that Dave agreed to appear in this video because the producer (Penelope Spheeris) went on to produce other Megadeth videos.
