There are many self proposed guides here in Asheville but i would never want to do it that way. Go to the source in the rainforrest and respect respect respect. While i was getting my clinical certificate in Herbalism I learned that the ayahuasca vine also contains a substance that is used for lamp oil. So i suppose it " lights the way " in many ways....

Where did you have your ayahuasca experience? There are many ways, but in the Shipibo tradtition that I´m familiar there is neither fire nor a drum present during the ceremony.

I'm so happy for you! You look so damn comfy in that poncho 🥰 Very interesting I know a little bit about ayahuasca. Mushrooms actually helped me begin healing. I was a lot more comfortable in my own skin after that which helped me work through depression. But everything has to be in moderation and or balanced.
So many pagans stop at learning about the myths and stories, or comparing it to Christianity, but you really go all the way and show that you are serious about spirituality, not just the "costume" of it. Since ours is a faith broken by many generations, we need to go to places like these to help rediscover it, bit by bit.
I wonder if you know about Bruce Parry, he made the documentary series "Tribe/Going Tribal" and is a seriously dedicated and respectful person when visiting tribal communities, a lot of the episodes deal heavily with the spiritual as well, and he did have some experiences like this. I've also read a couple of more recent articles about his goals and he's a very interesting man.
Myself, I'm interested in this as well but being TTC for a time now and hopefully looking forward for a few years of pregncy/ies and breastfeeding, obviously I won't be doing this now, but maybe when I'm 40.

So happy you got to experience such a thing. I have not done that type of hallucinogenic medicine but understand through other types. Each medicine is different than others in aspects of course. I’m also curious if this medicine awakens the spirits of its own land only or if it shows you the spirits of the land you take it on. Honestly would love to see you travel and get more chances to partake or get to watch allowed shamanistic practices in various cultures. I find it fascinating. I salute the poncho 🫡 it’s been through it and survived.😄
I’ve been microdosing for a while now but the yearn for this plant medicine is getting stronger. I’m 40 next year and I think it might be about time. ❤
I've had many great experiences on Shroomies. It's all about set and setting. With the right friend and music, the experience can be life changing. I've seen the creation of mankind, the connection between God and Mankind through the painting of Leonardo Divinci, etc. I'm glad you were safe and had a great time. The beautiful thing of it is as well is that those lessons that you've learned and seen will forever be with you for years to come.

I have thought about trying Ayahuasca to help with PTSD from some of my experiences I had in the military, 21 years and both Iraq and Afghanistan, but I am truly afraid that some of the experiences would be way too much to handle without the right people around to help guide the experience.
I agree - there are some many other avenues of spiritual healing, spiritual connectedness and spiritual understanding. Ayahuasca is not a cure all, not meant for all, and not the answer. I am concerned that it has become a trend, a phase, or the in thing to do. You gave a lot of warnings I hope people will appreciate your concern. Risk v rewards, in truth, seek other opinions if you have any doubts. Listen to your intuition.
I am interested! I have used psychoactive plant medicine (cacao and blue lotus) but not psychedelic. I've had amazing results with those so far!
I have a question - i use a walker. How was getting around there? I use it more for balance than anything, though I tire easily.

Ayhuasca is not just a root boiled into tea. It's a root boiled into tea taken with the emulsified leaves of another plant which acts as an MAO inhibitor which helps the psychoactive effects of the root take effect. If you just boiled down the roots and drank them as is without the MAOI, your stomach acid and intestines would filter and break down the drug as they do any poison, and all you'd do is throw up with very little or no psychoactive effect. Ayhuasca is often associated with the jaguar spirit as it's said that it was the jaguar which led men to know which roots to ingest. Participants are often also said to experience jaguar imagery as well, and gain the ability to talk to animals during the ceremony.
One thing the uninitiated participant needs to know is that you will puke and shit your guts out. This is normal. You will also see things that are uncomfortable. This is expected. My advice is to walk towards the conflicts. If you see a door, go through it. If you see something intimidating, confront it. Let go of your ego and just let the experience take you away as if you are floating on a river. Give up to the experience and enjoy where it goes. As long as you fight the experience, the worse the experience will go. Just relax and realize that you chose to do this, so affirm yourself by going through with it.
Does make you think that Gods aren't so omnipresent as I had believed, and they seem to be more localized. I guess that might be why I kinda struggle to connect with Greek and Norse Gods, because I live so far away from them. Not that they can't visit internationally, but I wonder what that means for when you pray to them, how much influence do they really have in your area?
Maybe a dumb question, but was the cleansing something that happened taking the Ayahuasca? Or something you did to prepare to take it? Neat experience, thanks for sharing ❤️

The only time I went through a Ayahuasca ceremony was about 18 years ago in Tennessee at a retreat I went to. A Peruvian Shaman along with his female assistants were there to facilitate the 4 day ceremony. We were actually given guidance 6 weeks before we even did the ceremony! We were asked to stop eating meat, ween off of caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, and processed foods. We needed to start an outdoor meditative practice (at the time I was Buddhist, and had a pretty rigid indoor practice, so I just had to translate that to the outdoors). The ceremony itself was very powerful for me. The question I had was "who am I now...what have I become". Over the course of the first 3 nights it was a slow build up. The slow build up is important to eliminating anxiety about what you are doing and what might happen. The fourth night I purged, and as disgusting as it was, it really felt GOOD to release all the pain and trauma that plagued me. I did this trip on a whim because a friend was going and didn't want to go alone...but I truly feel like it was MY destiny to do it...not hers. I agree with you that we could have used a couple more days. I also agree with you that doing the ceremony in the jungle among the Spirits of THAT land using that land's plants might have been even more powerful. Maybe I wasn't ready for that at that time. I'll tell you what...I am ready for that now! I hope to do exactly the same kind of ceremony as you did sometime very soon. Thanks for your insights!

I wish there were a way to commune with the spirits as reliably. Amanitas are very reminiscent of psylo journeys in the cases, where enough sanity remains to remember. While nightshades are far too risky to try on your own.
And even if the entity does end up taking the shape of your query - how can one tell that what is summoned it not an imposter?

It’s not something I’d do as I have medical issues. It looks like they screen you ahead of time so hopefully no one has a serious heart condition or something else that going through all the diarrhea and vomiting will not be good for them. I have kidney problems so for example diahhrea and especially vomiting are to be avoided if possible. I think they should have a medical person on staff though in case to be safer. The rest of the retreat sounds interesting if I skipped the tea drink. But probably you could do that somewhere else then as the tea ceremony with this plant seems like the main element of this retreat. Stay safe all who decide to go. Vomiting can lead to extreme dehydration so hopefully they encourage the participants to drink adequate water afterwards

As far as your experience goes with the plant medicine, Do you feel it had a significant impact on your perspective when it came to your personal practices or beliefs? I'm curious about how that process was for you as a Norse Pagan.
I experienced both Norse themed visions. As well as South American. I definitely think everything is connected more now.

Oh - I saw in a long ago video where you showed a Druid sacred space with the basin and footprint carved out of a crag/boulder in Scotland. Just outside of St. Andrews there is the same basin and footprint. The Magick of it is the font/basin is spring fed and never goes dry and never overflows! Dunio Den. The space has been dated to 4,000 bc.
I was there in September ‘23. That two hour visit was incredible. I was alone and then two women came to it as well. The feel there was both serene and had an energy that you can only feel at those crags.

One of the only bad ceremonies conducted by a South American curandero I've heard of was when he decided to mix in brugmansia (hallucinogenic, but also very poisonous) and the participants weren't properly informed
Having experimented with psychedelics in my youth I do believe they have their place in society under correct conditions but for most people they can do more harm then good. No one I know really became better people just more confused and degenerate in their behavior. They usually lost all sense of themselves and gave up on who they are and their connection to their ancestors. Or they life would just kick in and whatever you learned would go away like it was a distant memory. Also, calling it medicine is highly subjective.
They really helped me find myself after Christianity. Still do. Psychedelics mean "mind manifesting", and I guess some folks probably should leave their minds unmanifested.
I’ve been told by people who dropped a••d about their experience. If it’s anything like that, it wouldn’t appeal to me. I like to keep a clear head.
i feel like not using medicines where and how they should be...is inappropriate...it feels like folks try drugs to try drugs 🤷♀️ i know that your journey is leading you towards shamanism...so it makes sense but i agree with you about using the drugs in place...using the medicines for the right reasons makes sense

Well, it’s a spiritual journey so you’re taking this is basically a trip like a vacation so you would plan in advance and find a lower flight that would work with your budget. Generally if you’re going to Mexico, you can get a flight there around $450 and if you find a place where you can go with other people and share expenses like lodging.

I just think there’s KUNDALINI or mushrooms that could get you in entrance, reflective state. Is it worth it? That’s what I’m wanting to hear. This medicine isn’t new. It’s something that goes back for countless generations.
It’s considered a bitter medicine. Think of all the “chemical” medicines with massive side effects. This only has temporary discomfort for very deep levels of mental and spiritual healing. Worth it.
It's worth it. The purging actually feels good to me... like releasing energy I no longer need.
@@TheWisdomOfOdinexcessive vomiting dehydrates your body and can damage your kidneys. Hopefully the organization putting on these retreats is aware of this. As a person with damaged kidneys I’d never do this. If you do make sure you drink water and replace all the lost electrolytes you barfed up. Diahhrea can also lead to dehydration.
