Thank you👌🏿 alot of good info
I got one from dennys driveshaft...went from 4l60 to 80
that fuxn' cricket
I’m swapping my 4l60e to a built 4l80e on my F body firebird trans am. What driveshaft should i use? since the 80e is longer then the 60e
Thanks for the video, very helpful. What did you do about your dipstick?
Baylen Lee used the stock dipstick just had to bend it a bit to clear the firewall
Got a "700R4" driveshaft from a 90' c1500 trying to put a 4l80e yoke on it. would this part fit? or how do i go about finding the right U-Joint for my application
Do you know what the transmission came out of so we can identify the yoke? I have an 01 extended cam 2wd and looking to get the 80. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Much appreciated.
Do you have a part number for the yoke? I have one from a 2001 4l80e truck and I can't find a u-joint to fit my factory 2 piece shaft
Ok, I got the part number for the u joint (thanks)... but can u give the whole layout as far as all upgrades and changes to run a 4l80e behind a 5.3 engine? I got a 2002 Silverado single cab shortbed. I have the 4l80 already but haven't installed it, I bought a stock used driveshaft as well but don't know what yoke to get, my original driveshaft, yoke broke off along with all the back end of my old 4l60 tranny I had in it... so I went ahead and bought a used stock 4l80 and a drive shaft...BUT.... I now realize I need a different flex wheel, fluid lines change, wiring harness changes, yoke changes, .... I'm guessing crossmember too... sooo, I need all specs and part #s if u can, total life saver! And need some reassurance that I CAN use the stock length driveshaft I already bought... help please
I have a circle d direct bolt converter with stock 5.3 flex plate. Stock 4l80e yoke adapted with above ujoint. I cut the stock cross member, moved center section back to 4l80e mounting stud and welded it up. Only thing else required is a a 4l60/65e to 4l80e adapter harness from pcm of nc. My truck is an extended cab with 2 piece driveshaft and carrier bearing. I think speed engineering makes and swap crossmember if you don’t want to mess with making one.
@@JMSAUTO what about the fluid lines? Did ur old ones work by rebending them or something? Or did u have to buy new fluid lines to fit and reach?
@@JMSAUTO thanks... I will be buying a stock 6.0 flexplate since the 4l80 has a stock torque converter... try working the lines to plug into the 4l80's inserts....I will be buying a prefabricated crossmember....that just leaves the yoke and the wiring.... I'm guessing the stock 4l80 yoke should do....? Still unsure if driveshaft will sit right.
So i wonder if this will work for a 4l80 driveshaft i want to use a 4l60 yoke with??
Hey, Did you ever end up modifying the yoke as you said? or did the th400 yoke fit perfectly fine
Alex Speranza I used the stock 4l80e yoke with the adapter ujoint and didn’t have to cut it down at all. I have an extended cab so it’s the 2 piece drive shaft with the carrier bearing
From where to where are you measuring the yoke?
Javier Espinoza on an extended cab driveshaft after it is mounted and inserted into the trans.. from the end of the yoke to the first ujoint. Been driving it like that for a few months now without any issues ?
Is this pretty much the same idea for a ls1 car with 4l60 changing to 4l80 swap i couls use this same one or woukd i need a diffre t one
Good documentation!!!
What truck is that going on, and is it extending cab? Also what the part number or nake of toke you used, Thanks
Thanks, I bought it and put it on the yoke ,but it did not work on the 97 c1500 side. Its a 1 1/8 and the older model takes a 1 1/16 cap, no biggie Ima figure it lol
Will this work for the pinion yoke I have a 4l60e drive shaft and I just bought a rear end with 373 gears from a z71 but it has the tabs on the inside of the pinion yoke with the bugger u joint
I have a 2004 single cab, and I’m preparing to do the same swap. I have a one piece driveshaft, do you think this setup will work for me?
Whip_Doctor yes it should be the same. The only difference is that I have a carrier bearing on my driveshaft so it allows for a bit of play. Once you get the new ujoint and 4l80e yoke mated to your driveshaft put it in the trans and make sure it slides back out atleast .250 to .375 inch towards the rear differential.
Justin Silverado524 i ordered a stock 80e yoke, but it looks nothing like yours. Do you have a part#
do you know if someone makes a slip yoke repair sleeve for a 93 chevy c1500 truck driveshaft.. the one that goes into the transmission tailhousing., mine is worn., thanks
@@JMSAUTO did some research, they do make one, but they are not cheap., around 45. bucks.,
The slip yoke I have that came with the 4l80e has about 1/2 inch gap. It won't set on the lock.
@cristianjantes7453 took it to driveshaft shop they put a different style yoke.
@@cristianjantes7453 slip yoke on the drive shaft in to the transmission
So what was the point of doing this swap? I'm having a clunk on my truck some said is the yoke .
I plan to on doing to swap this weekend. I also have the extended cab but I have a 6 in flip kit. Do you think the stock drive shaft will still work??
This is going to sound odd , I bought the same u joint as in this video , the two ends that go to 80e yoke and way to small
Salvador Balandran that is odd. My trans was a 2004 I believe with the driveshaft from my 2005 Silverado mating up using this I joint with no issues.
So the driveshaft you have from the original thruck what yoke style is it 1330?
Stock driveshaft with the 4l80 yoke adapted to it using the ujoint in the video
By using this particular yoke, does this bypass the process of having to shorten the driveshaft
Did you have to shorten your driveshaft ?
@@207shenanigans yes it works great I have roughly 3000 miles on it without an issue. No I didn’t shorten it
Thanks for the info I was wondering about this conversion. Just ordered one myself.
