does anyone notice how in the entire animation terminal never breaks human emotion "packman", for example here, 1:15 to 1:35, packman doesn't go and look at the noise, but just runs as fast as he can in the most human way possible. Even I react like this when I see or hear something unsettling like this, even for a second. Truely amazing.

I love how each ghost’s appearance is a reference to their AI. Blinky is the first to leave the ghost house and is the most direct, Clyde just kinda does his own thing until he gets Pac-Man in his sights, Inky tries to get between Blinky and Pac-Man, and Pinky ambushes.

I don't exactly think they expected people to study the AI, they kinda just expected people to just go to the arcade and play it? Besides, Clyde is kinda humorous, kinda the odd one out. Gives the game more character!
Actually the ghosts' AI works by a target tile they need to reach. They also operate in phases: scatter, chase, scared and eaten. Scatter mode is normally called corner mode because all of the ghosts' target points are positioned at the corners, just outside of the maze, and because they can't turn around, this forces them to orbit the corners trying to reach the target. Then once the interval assigned by which level the player is on ends, they will immediately turn 180 degrees and their targets are positioned strategically around pac man. This normally causes them to form a single file line chasing pac man. If a power pellet is eaten, all ghosts turn blue, turn 180 degrees again, and enter scared phase. In scared phase, their movements are chosen by a random number generator. Once eaten, they turn into a blank set of eyes, speed up significantly, and their target is set inside of the ghost house. Once they enter, they turn back into whatever color they are, then begin all over again starting in whatever phase it would've been if pacman hadn't eaten a power pellet.
@@aperson4097 Probably as a randomness factor. Since the other ghosts have specific AI, they can be manipulated by the player's choices. Clyde can't, so you have to hope he isn't wandering someplace you need to go.
That would be my guess, but it seems inconsistent with what others have said here.

This is definitely one of, if not the most underrated animation on TerminalMontage's channel. For primarily being a comedy animator, this take on a serious video is phenomenal. And no stock explosion in sight! That must have taken some serious restraint

I'm impressed because usually when animators deviate from their traditional video formats, it's appealing to a lot less of their audience than their usual productions. This was a very exciting flavor alternative from a crew who doesn't seem to dabble much in this.

A while ago, I made a joke about Mrs. Pacman being an acronym, that being "M.R.S.P.A.C - Military Recon & Specialist for Photon Aerospace Control", but it was made back when the title was different, and nobody reads the description anymore, so now I'm sad that the joke is harder to understand.

This was quite an experience. The musical buildup compliments the plot of the story, giving a foreboding, mysterious feeling. The monsters gave an excellent display of raw, pure terror with their appearance being very contrasting to the goofy little arcade game we all know and love. 10/10. A masterpiece in theatrical and artistic fields. Keep up the good work TM.

So Pacman is a game where 4 companions on a space satellite were infected with a type of parasite that can ultra mutate and killed the other crew members, leaving only 2 alive.
They even have ghost appearances but they can be defeated with certain things apparently
The mission is to get all the orbs as batteries to be able to leave the ship in an emergency capsule.

easily my favorite terminal montage animation omggg I love how this one is serious for a change (still love the silly ones tho) my dad used to play pacman all the time back in the 80s-90s at arcades and i showed him this animation and he could not get over it

It's so cool that each of the ghost has their acutal personnality. Blinky runs headfront into the player, Clyde wants to pretends he is something else, Inky wants to corner the player with blinky and Pinky heads to where the player is going.

The way you designed the monstrous forms of the ghosts is incredible. I’m currently running a D&D game and some monsters i’ve made for the game are these body horror-type monsters and i’ve used your designs for the ghosts as a reference. Thank you for the inspiration and making such a great video!

I never imagined how much it fits well to have Pac-Man being some kind of explorer and the ghosts be cosmic horrors, would love to have a sort of tech-demo of that, maybe even a full game with that sort of concept behind it.

Here some ideas to make it more unique:
-The player having a Hud that maps your location and a gun that slows down big monsters and kills smaller monsters
- Adding monsters that changes up the gameplay like a creature that hides under the ceiling to ambushes you, forcing you to go around it and smaller monsters meant to slow you down or alarm the bigger monsters to your location
-The power up making the big monsters being able to be killed by your gun or a bigger gun with limited ammo
-Each level have there own unique layout and slowly introducing new gimmicks such as pits
There is a game very similar to Pac-Man that follows that premise except they arent ghosts but freakish monkeys. It's called Dark Deception

Terminalmontage did the most unexpected thing we think he would ever do, he mad an animation horrifying. I genuinely got chills and as soon as I saw the mine cutter, I knew exactly what it was a reference to. But just the feeling of dread for pac man as every corner he goes around theres a ghost, really puts in the feeling that there is no escape. Terrifying stuff to behold
