Welcome aboard. We used Steel Decking as a base for the slab. It's pretty widely used in Phil and allows you to use less rebar. It also makes shoring up far easier. As for the tiling, they almost always use about an inch of dry pack mortar with a bit of tile adhesive under the tiles. This allows them to do a rough slab which saves time and labor. The leveling is done when tiles are laid. An advantage of this method is that if the slab cracks it won't force the tiles to crack too. It is also better for sound dampening, especially if you have upper floors. Hope this helps and good luck with the build.😊
Hi John, I am a new subscriber name Joe near Dumaguete getting ready to do our terrace with pear pit. How did you hold up your concrete floor? It looked like you use some type of metal roofing under the cement. Your job is looking great. I’m jealous. your tile looks great. Did they put two or 3 inches of mortar under it as usual or did they use notched trowel and glue?
