It's cool that the real "Rod Hull" took this on the chin (no pun intended) and joined in with the joke. Lee and Herring did a touching tribute when he died. This sketch was brilliant.
Yeah. They were make him a recurring character in the second series of This Morning With Richard Not Judy, but scrapped the idea after Rod Hull passed away. They only had him making a cameo appearance in the last episode as a mark of respect.
@@ClaydenLee I assume it was Kevin Eldon's character that was going to be the recurring character in series 2, and in any case, even if I've misunderstood and it was the real one that would have recurred in series 2, the sketches had already been filmed and then weren't used.
I remember seeing this years ago. I watched Stewart Lee last night and it reminded me of this. The exposé lived fondly in my memories. I'm glad I could find it.
Had to explain who Rod Hull was to my 11 year old daughter in order to show her how funny this was! Loved Rod Hull and was a great sport going along with the Fist Of Fun gag, you can tell how much he was beloved by the audiences reaction when he appears.
Now can i have my jelly? one of the best comedy punch lines ever, mind you Rod Hull was a comic genius, just check out the other Rod Hull related stuff
The finest in 90's comedy Respect to Rod Hull; i doth my cap to anyone who can make a living for over 30 years by stuffing his hand up a cheap puppet and attacking people with it. RIP
It's like someone created the character from verbal descriptions without ever having seen the real Rod Hull: high-pitched excited voice, long face with pointy chin, unmanageable hair ...
The character was invented during the Xmas episode of the Fist of Fun radio series in pretty much exactly this way, they kept introducing guests and The Actor Kevin Eldon was suddenly asked to be Rod Hull and had no idea how to do his voice.
I met Rod Hull ( the real rod hull) on Maidstone Train-station in about 1990. I was waiting for the train and i heard and Recognised the voice at the Kiosk buying food.I went over to say Hello and he was Very charming. He was holding a zip up sports-bag . which im guessing would have had Emu in it Never met False Rod Hull ( Kevin Eldon) But did watch him a Theatre acting in a series of Harold Pinter plays with Bill bailey
It hasn't been on since 1996, and since Stewart Lee co-wrote and directed Jerry Springer: The Opera and is currently working on other tv projects and Richard Herrring is touring with his stand up show, I doubt it
6:50 Yes you are oh and by the way Lee and Stu I hope you're proud of yourselves you children mocking Rod Hull like that you're just lucky that he didn't have a Particular temperamental bird on his arm
Okay two things one I wish Rod would've had emu on his arm and to I wish the fake Rod Hull would have said "oh and by the way Michael Parkinson says hi " at which point emu would have attacked the fake Rod Hull Lee and Stu!

liynhart - Rod died after falling from the roof of his house whilst fixing the TV aerial so he could get a good picture for the 1999 Inter Milan v Manchester United Champions League Quarter Final.
Sorry for the necro, but this is absolutely true. I was the press officer for the A&E department that he was taken to. RIP - great good humour and talent shown here.
This has to be one of the best guest performances on any show ever. He knew the lines and gave it everything. The real Rod Hull was a pro.
So was the actor Kevin Eldon
ROB HULL AND EMU
Rod Hull saying 'moon on a stick' is legendary
Why? It's a common idiom 😉

I only found out today, at the age of fifty effing nine, that this quote comes from As You Like It.

I'm finding out today at the age of 61, that this is a quote.
Just imagine all the other stuff that's been passing us by.
What a touching reminder of how great Rod Hull was. I miss Fist Of Fun, and i miss Rod too.
Glad this had brought so much amusement.
Could never keep a straight face when I hear Kevin Eldon do that voice.
Stuart Lee acts all grim and serious but he can't stop smiling when the real Rod Hull demands jelly.
totally underrated show, brilliance.
Possibly the funniest tv moment from my entire childhood
I remember seeing this years ago. I watched Stewart Lee last night and it reminded me of this. The exposé lived fondly in my memories. I'm glad I could find it.
"Excuse me real, genuine, three-dimensional Rod Hull..." 😂😂
'Sans arm, sans chin, sans jelly.' haunts me to this day.
I will never get tired of watching this.
Great upload! Thanks very much. RIP Rod Hull.
What the world needs now is a new series of Fist of Fun.
You must admit, that Rod Hull, he's got fantastic comedy timing...
I always assumed Emu was the funny one.
I love Kevin Eldon - should have seen more of him over the years..
Kevin eldon interacted with me during fist of fun live. I was in the front row. He asked me what hobbies I had as Simon Quinlank.

Oh, the actor Kevin Eldon is a comedic giant.
Don't be insensitive
I once sat two tables down from him in a pub in Finsbury park. He was out with Lisa Tarbuck and someone not famous.

Kevin Eldon should have worn this costume in his scene in Napoleon. Would have distracted us from Napoleon's American accent.
Stew on the point of corpsing when Rod Hull says this is almost offensive!
I bet Rod Hull was involved in the writing of this skit.
Who's watching this in 3037?
Still trying to find the Pie Pie sketch.
The payoff to this sketch is immense.
ROB HULL AND EMU
RH took that in good part. He should have done stuff beyond Emu.
