Yes, including that if you put out a fake news story and get caught, you get fired.

BRIEF COMMENT: BY HIS OWN WORDS, JUST TO SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT, IF YOU LISTEN TO HIS ACADEMY OF TV ARTS INTERVIEW, HE OFFICIALLY STATES THAT HE WAS NOT FORCED OUT FROM CBS NEWS, HE OFFICIALLY RETIRED FROM THE CBS NEWS ANCHOR DESK IN MARCH OF 2005. THAT IS TO SAY AFTER 24 YEARS, HE OFFICIALLY "RETIRED," FROM CBS NEWS AT THAT TIME-HE WAS NOT FORCED OUT! WHO WOULD KNOW BETTER THEN HIMSELF? HE WAS THERE & HE KNEW WHAT HAPPENED. SO FINALLY, CONTRARY TO POPULAR BELIEF, HE RETIRED FROM CBS NEWS & WAS NOT "LET GO," OR FIRED. LISTEN TO HIS ACADEMY OF TV ARTS INTERVIEW. YOU GET THE WHOLE TRUTH OF WHAT HAPPENED FROM THE MAN HIMSELF.

Yeah, that was why he sued CBS afterwards and lost. I wouldn't believe Dan Rather if he said good morning.

"looks like those buildings we have all seen too much where they use well placed dynamite to knock it down" - Dan Rather

I vaguely recall EdMorrow, my father followed him every week, and I see Mr Rather followed his format. There are very few outstanding journalists;; EdMorrow, Dan Rather and Jennings. They are the standard of quality reporting to the populous, but presently there are just to many talking heads without the same intellectual quality of information or content. I’m only saying....

I remember a "Pearls Before Swine" comic where Pig compares Dan Rather to a kid who got hit in the head with a brick. And cartoonist Stephen Pastis is a liberal.

Not really. People who put out fake news stories and get caught invariably get the boot. Happened with Stephen Glass and Jayson Blair as well.

That Washington State would choose to become an advocate, actively preaching for Rather’s rehabilitation, speaks more to the corrupt dishonesty of Wash. State than it does to the disgraced fired “journalist” himself.

    • @bigverybadtom

@@DarrelSimon The truth is that Dan Rather tried to put out a fake news story, got caught out, and was given the heave-ho, which is what happens to such people. Even Walter Cronkite, who hated Bush, agreed with that decision.
