      Hi Neil , got mine replaced by PD free of charge after the silicone bits melted , no problems with the replacement, thank you PD , also use the thinner versions which are more practical for short distance walkabouts . Excellent video .

      Thanks for the comments. Really glad you’re happy with the strap and the customer support.

    Cameras don't have an elaborate strap because it would inflate the cost by $150... when many don't use a strap, or use a wrist strap. So it's left up to the photog to upgrade to the strap they prefer.

    great video, but one more point for it, this design, ie: having the strap cradle the whole camera, on the side, is like what hasselblad V system straps did, have a quick clip, and a wide strap, designed so it hangs lens down, for these bodies it's essential (weight/cost of the system), also not having to be a surgeon to tie it on is fantastic, esp. for people with low dexterity, and the fact that you can take the strap off, means it stores in a bag well, and if you go from 'hand held' to tripod, you don't have anything which can topple the thing over, by catching on your jacket, etc. as it's well out of your way.

      Hi Andy. Great comments and additions. Thanks for contributing. I certainly do appreciate the strap’s ease of setup and storage capabilities.

    I love this PD strap. I have nine in various widths. I use one on all of my gadgets that need a strap and have added them to ifootage monopod as well.
    One often overlooked feature is that flipping the pad to the sticky side while walking even when in cross-body mode reduces movement of the camera a lot.

      @NeilShelbyLong  Před 6 měsíci

      Thanks Frank. Yep, you know already how good they are. I’m fully with you on this.

    also if you go with spider holster, it has elements which stick out of the camera base, so means it doesn't store in a bag, at least as well as Peak Design, the same locking systems can be used, for transferring onto a backpack strap, etc. but these are small and you have to get a lot of them, one for each attachment, they are also proprietary ( ball and stud) so unlike Arca Swiss you can ONLY go this route, with plain dovetails, Anything can fit, even off brands, saving money.

    my only complain the slide's grip part are easily worn off, i got a replacement of Peak Design Slide lite back in October 2023, the grip part already started to come off

    • @NeilShelbyLong
      @NeilShelbyLong  Před 3 měsíci

      That's quite interesting. Although I've not had this problem, you're not the first person to mention this. I think Peak Design did replace the other persons strap when they got in touch with the company directly, so that may be worth trying. Thanks and good luck.

    • @wenjiun88
      @wenjiun88 Před 3 měsíci +1

       @NeilShelbyLong I no longer eligible for warranty due to my strap has already warrantied out. i think is valid reason because they wanna prevent fraudulent that anyone who take advantage of their camera strap's lifetime warranty.
      In my defence, the grip part is really not lasting for me... maybe because i sweat a lot and I’m living in Tropical country.
      I going to use it as one strap camera strap but as dual camera strap, i think not. I just hope when they release new camera strap, they can improve the grip part.

    • @NeilShelbyLong
      @NeilShelbyLong  Před 3 měsíci

      Ah, I see. It still might be worth dropping an email direct to them. Even if they don’t replace it, it might assist their R&D team to find a better solution for different climates. All the best 👍🏻

    Yeah, I just leave the "stock" straps in the boxes. I went with the Slide Lite as I primarily shoot MFT and agree that it's a clever piece (as are many of PD's products--I also have the Capture with dual plate* and Pro Pad**, plus I just got the everyday backpack zip 20L with the hip belt). The only downside with my original Slide Lite was that enough of the silicone nubbins wore/fell off (over less than a year), but they sent me a replacement (PD Certified, but good as new, with free shipping) and let me keep the old one. It's good to see actual customer "Service" for a change.
    *With a Manfrotto (at least the 496 head that came with my BeFree GT X-Pro Carbon), you need PD's Dual Plate as the Standard Plate won't fit (although it is supposedly Arca-Swiss-compatible).
    **That's necessary when you use the Dual Plate if you want the camera to hang lens-down (and why wouldn't you, especially with a longer lens).

    I was considering getting one of these straps. Thank you for the thorough review, I'm gonna get one! I wish that camera companies would just send a nice strap when you buy a camera. Oh well, capitalism. Also, love the design of the background where you are standing, so pretty!

    You didn’t mention the lifetime guarantee. PD will replace your strap for free if it breaks or loses function. I replaced my first one when the silicone grippers (for shoulder carry) got all gummy (because of heat, maybe). I submitted a claim and got a replacement with no fuss. Same with their bags, by the way. Great company that truly stands behind their products.

      His problem is that the Peak Design Slide is so good, you won't buy a new one. The Betteridge's law of headlines applies here: If a video title is a question, the answer is just "no" and it is just clickbait.

    @paulplus3830 Před 6 měsíci

    That's what worries me too. Quality brands go under or have to cave to capitalist ways and have to produce crap, that barely lasts the warranty to survive unscrupulous competitors. Because buyers don't know or care or are simply too stupid.
