Deborah Szekely (pronounced SAY-Kay) is regarded as the godmother of the modern-day fitness movement. Deborah Szekely has been a lifelong warrior for wellness and leadership training. Deborah, aged 94 at this video in 2016, has been organic farming since 1930. She has run for Congress, served on the President’s Council of Physical Fitness for Presidents Nixon, Reagan, and Ford, and served as a delegate for UNESCO. In 1940, she co-founded Rancho La Puerta, the vibrant fitness and spa retreat in northwestern Mexico that continues to evolve, remaining in the vanguard of health & wellness philosophy. In 2012, Deborah founded a non-profit called Wellness Warriors to support wellness initiatives in Congress. Her remarkable fundraising has supported these national projects along with local initiatives, including preservation and development of San Diego's notable theatre, The Old Globe.

I worked for her in 1966. I was sort of like buyer. Worked at here office on fourth Ave. also at here house. Took her son back and forth to school. 1972 I got married to my wife that had an aunt Helen Smith which turned out she was friends with Deborah. Helen was married to Arnhold Smith, Mr. San Diego. In 1966 I was 16 years old.

Wonderful interview. I recommend everyone watch this. Deborah Szekely's life journey is fascinating, and the way she recounts her story is captivating. She exhibits such health, vigor and sharpness of mind that she clearly is worth listening to when it comes to advice on healthy living. The interviewer, Dr. Guarneri, does a very fine job as well, so overall this is a top-notch program.
