Lauri is 90-95% of what Spida is currently and Kessler is 85% of Rudy and being paid 30 mil less. The million picks and other young players are just icing on top. In Danny Ainge we trust!
By the time you factor in Kessler’s offensive abilities it isn’t even close- I love Rudy still, but that trade changed the future like Marty McFly.
@@nosihi3115 I agree! Rudy was never able to punish teams who went small against him (Clippers series). Kessler isn’t as good defensively as Rudy yet, but his offensive game is already miles better
Ehh definitely not with Lauri, Dono led the jazz to the playoffs and upset the thunder, and Kessler could also regress next year or he could just cap out as this good he's definitely not Rudy even on offense considering even with less skills just by screening hockey passing his impact was bigger than Mitchell's when u really looked at the stats
Proof that if Danny Ainge calls to make a trade you just hang up the phone
The Jazz fleeced the Wolves and Cavs. I’m hoping they find some more success.
They absolutely did NOT “fleece” the Cavs. They gave up a rookie, a decent starter, and Lauri(who wouldn’t have been an all star on that Cavs team) plus picks for a top 5 mvp candidate. It was a Win win trade.
The wolves on the other hand… yeah they fleeced them😂
@@jowasijo At the moment I agree with the Cavs trade being a 50/50. If Donovan Mitchell declines his player option then those pick swaps looking pretty prime as well and could be entering fleecing territory.
@@jowasijo Long term this trade will favor the Jazz. Mitchell wont commit to CLE the same way he wouldn't commit to Utah. Mitchell has made it clear which franchise he wants to play for and he will opt out in 2025.
With Keyonte George breaking out during summer league, an the X-rays negative, the future is bright for Utah!
As a jazz fan, I’m so excited for our future
As a Celtics fan, I'm also excited for this. Your fan base deserves a great team
@@TStizzle19sorta they be saying some racist ass shit to the opposing teams players but yeah they definitely are passionate about their team
OKC fan here. Excited to watch these 2 teams develop. There could be some playoff battles in the not so distant future.
Yeah Danny Ainge just put on a masterclass on how to run a franchise. I think a star is going to be headed to Utah by the 2025 trade deadline, maybe even 2 stars. I also think they're going to be a lot of people in the jazz front office who will be headed out of Utah after other teams fire their management
Forgot to mention Jazz moving on from Snyder. Good planning coach but terrible in game coach. I would like to have seen the team stay together and just get rid of Quin Snyder.
I agree moving on from Snyder was a good move. However doing that plus moving on from two divas and getting the haul they did…. Super good move. Donovan will never win a chip nor will Gobert. They are both team killers for their own reasons. The team the Jazz are putting together already has way more potential than those two together ever did.
Snyder is a good tactical coach, but sucked at developing new players...
Bro 4:30 ...the moment I saw that, can't help but literally LOL 🤣😂😂 And you already had K.A.T. 😂😂
Your videos are absolutely amazing. You are one of the only youtubers that actually gets me excited when i see a new video because i know it will be insightful and be made with great quality.
As a life long jazz fan this was one of the best video breakdowns I’ve seen for the team 👏
As a Jazz fan, I might actually be most excited about Will Hardy's tenure.
I'm from French lick Indiana, the jazz have been my favorite team since the 90s. I gotta say I'm more excited than I have been in a while.
Not to mention the Royce O'Neal trade for a FRP which ended up being Sensabaugh, Bogdonovic trade for Olynyk. Then as a part of flipping the assets from Minnesota, the pulled in THT, and Russ' contract in a buyout that allowed them cap space to trade for Collins. It goes WAY deep.
Well spoken! We’re definitely trending in the right direction with guys like Lauri, Walker and Ochai plus our 3 picks in Hendricks, George and Sensabaugh. Danny and the gang are doing a great job. In him we trust
Hearing the terms of those trades still just floors me. As a jazz fan, I love teams doing business with trader Danny; as a fan of the NBA and parity, some of these other teams/GMs need to block Ainge’s number. I’m surprised the Jazz didn’t also walk off with a sizeable dowry and a betrothal from someone’s daughter…
They got a bunch of nobodies.
1 good player and late first round picks.
Danny ainge is doing something similar (though on a smaller scale) to what the thunder are doing, getting tons of picks stocked up along with having a talented young team
I wish the bulls and Raps would put there 2 cents in and realize this stuff too
The thing with those don and rudy jazz teams was we were a decent regular season team that could never get it done in the playoffs and we had three years in a row of meltdowns 2020 bubble 3-1 lead 2021 2-0 lead blown to injured clippers and then 2022 we lost to a luka doncic less mavericks Atleast they didn’t have him half the series, it was time for Danny ainge to trade don and rudy and im a jazz fan
A big part of this off-season was accumulating tradable contracts. We now have guys that have large enough contracts to be moved in a potential super star trade. Giving us flexibility in the trade market along with our large pool of assets, the jazz should be in talks for any superstar that wants out in the next 3-5 years
Thank for the great content!
With military background myself, I expect Lauri Markkanen to be mentally tougher than before. 🏀🔥
Thanks for the great content 💪
Solid video keep it up
Ever since Ainge entered the front office, he's been making absolutely killer trades and picks. As a Jazz fan, I worried that once Donovan and Rudy left, we'd be back to lackluster performance, similar to how the Jazz were when Stockton and Malone left/retired. Shockingly, the players they got were great and they got a haul of picks as well. Needless to say, I think they've done an excellent job, and the future is bright.
On a side note, I also feel like Markkanen and Kessler want to be here on the team. Mitchell felt like he never wanted to be here and was always making comments about politics rather than playing the game with the team (instead playing hero ball in the 4th quarter). A lot of fans felt that his ego grew larger and larger--he showed up and was a humble, likable guy, then slowly he started to become full of himself, and that's when I noticed the sharp "I don't want to be here" vibe start. Of course, I don't wish anything bad on him, but I'm glad he's gone.
THEY ALSO GOT HENDRICKS AND SENSABAUGH!
@@anybodywatching hes a efficient shooter from what i recall and he also a bit big
hes too fat and slow for the nba but he is a 6ft 6 3-level scorer who can shoot the absolute crap out of the ball. He was arguably the best shooter in college. Not just from 3 he loves to just get to a middy spot and drain those too.
Jazz FO has been dominate
The jury is most definitely IN on the Gobert trade - the only winners are the Jazz. Donovan wanted out of Utah as well, so it would have made no sense to hold on to him. It couldn’t have worked out better really, Kessler and Markkanen are core pieces and the Wolves 2023 pick turned into Keyonte George who looks great! Add Taylor Hendricks and John Collins in to the mix.. sheeeeeesh. The future is bright
@@zachphillips7997 if it means another lottery pick I’m all for it. Would have to land in top 10 tho otherwise it’s going to OKC
They put Danny Ainge in charge. Good things happen when you put Danny Ainge in charge of your team, at the expense of whoever he trades with.
love how positive you are as a creator
Great video
... didn't even mention clarkson, possibly the best scorer on the team (and imho, HIS new aire apparent, Sensabaugh)
Besides the Bojan Bogdanovic trade, every trade has been amazing for the Jazz. The Jazz are in the best position in the NBA because they can be competitive, while also having one of the brightest futures in the NBA
you got about everything right there except for the competitive part man
12th in the west aint say competitive
It was about 4 games between the 4th seed and the 13th this year. The jazz were within 10 points of every loss this year besides like 4. Not to mention they were clearly tanking sitting and trading their guys. The jazz will be a !of better this year than people think
You are so consistently producing great videos- might've replaced 6man as my favourite NBA creator. But maybe I am biased as a fellow Thunder Fan :D
They were good enough the entire time- Quinn Snyder was unable to or refused to make any adjustments.
I always felt that Snyder got tight in the playoffs and refused to make any adjustments as well. They tried to mask the horrendous perimeter defense by funneling everyone to Gobert. It didn't work when teams had time to prepare for it. Teams went small and pulled Gobert out of the paint. Jazz/Snyder had no answers.
I think as there constructed they could be a play in team with lauri and John Collins kessler in the front line. Clarkson and sexton in the back court I don't know if they can make it in the play in though!
The Jazz is definitely going to the correct direction, which is to go big/tall as well as athleticism!
Mostly big/tall with shooting and can put the Baptist in for small ball if Kessler needs it.
@@NateCarrier-rh2mk agree, Collins 4 Hendricks 5 when Kessler on the bench will be a sneaky good combo
The Markkanen-George connection is going to be something special for the Utah Jazz franchise. It will surpass even the duo of Stockton and Malone.
This actually came down to them loosing there locker room. Believe it or not the locker room glue to that team was Georges Niang. Once he was traded the team collapsed. Look at what the teams have done that Naing was traded to.
Phili had him and made to the finales.
Now he is at the Cavs you will see improvement. They have 3 former Jazz players in Mitchell, Naing and Neto.
Did you see how good the Lakers were with the trade of our three players? It goes to show with the right players a team gets better than where they were before. Yeah I was bummed but was able to see what others players can do which open doors and see what others are capable of 🚪👍
Can you make a Brooklyn Nets video about their future?
The goat of cones has returned 🫡
Spot on!!
danny ainge masterclass as usual best gm OAT
Utah lead the 2021 playoff series 2-1 before the khawi injury. The clippers were not leading the series before khawi got hurt.
what the hell was Minasota thinking?
Hoping the Jazz don’t make a quick stab at the chip by reaching for Dame. He’s an amazing offensive player in his twilight years but like Donovan, lots of splash, but no championship DNA. The Jazz take their timing doing what they’re doing and they’ll be in position to become a dynasty.
Donovan is short and gobert is soft, they made a perfect move
Trading D Mitch was premature imo He was only 25
Oddly enough Portland only need Rudy to get over the hump and Uttah needed Damian Lilard to secure a ring, that is just the league. We need more super teams for Parity.
As a Jazz fan I truly wish that we did save ourselves, we didn't we are no better off than when we started. We have no way of getting top tier talent, will never win the lottery and theres no top end trades that will push us over the top.
The Jazz have an embarrassment of riches. Kessler and Obaji are going to be really good for the Jazz this season.
You know who they could really use? Grayson Allen and Pat Connaughton. For, idk, Sexton? Idk if anyone's thought of that yet
I keep hearing analyst say Jokic is barely entering his prime and we could be entering the Jokic era but he’s already 29 and you just said Markkanen would be at the edge of his prime at 29 make it make sense
Jokic is currently 28, not 29. His age in the 2023-24 season will be 28. Lauri is 26. He will be playing this season as 26. Great players are typically in their prime from around 26 to about 32. Lesser players will tend to not take as good of care of their bodies and fall off a couple years earlier, while the greatest will last a couple of years longer. Steph Curry was 34 last year and showed no signs of slowing. LeBron is 38 and will be 39 this year, and while he's not as good as he was, he's still completely dominant. Age has not slowed him down on offence, but his defense has gotten worse and he misses more games than when he was younger.
Jokic has at least 4 more years in his prime, possibly more. Given his skillset, he will most likely last another 6 years before he starts to decline.
It takes 3-4 years for a new player to become truly NBA competent most of the time. Especially young guards really struggle. Even if Keyonte George is a superstar, he'll probably be like 12 points on 40% shooting in his first year.
Lauri will be 29 and right in the middle of his prime when the Jazz's young players like Walker Kessler and Keyonte George start really improving and becoming capable of thriving in the NBA.
Gobert trade will go down as bad as the Ricky Williams trade.
Technically ten players for 1.
You should make a video about the Orlando magic rebuild, cus I think they have a very underrated young core
Cone...need you to break down the roster of the magic they looking pretty good
Mitchell wasn't selected by the Jazz he was drafted by Denver then traded to Utah
Lauri is even better next season, if not injured he may be in mvp race. Joker is mvp for years to come, so Lauri cant win it but he is in discussion. Jazz still need guard to be contender. never know what rookies can do in NBA. Summer league is far away from real nba games, dont count what happens in summer league. It dont tell the truth. And summer league games is not fixed by refs like real nba games.
Fast forward to today, T Wolves are 1st in the league, and Jazz are 4th from the bottom😢 You have to understand that most of the non lottery picks (even lottery picks) don't make it in the league T wolves understood this and they were willing to give up their late round picks for several years. Plus the players they gave up for Rudy wasn't all that good. So it was worth it at the time.
2 players and they got a boatload of resources to play with and Donovan trade already is totally Jazz win with Sexton & Lauri together will be better than Mitchell overall.
This is what the clippers need to do
A small correction in your video. The Utah Jazz did not draft them. Both Mitchell(13th pick, 2017 draft class) and Gobert(27th pick, 2013 draft class ) were drafted by the Nuggets but were traded to the Jazz.
It's honestly pretty amazing the Nuggets were able to trade away 2 future stars for peanuts and still built a championship team.
Nice
As we are both OKC fans we have to admit how much we hate how well Ainge has been able to build for UTA future. He knows better than most why players don't want to play in UTA, so draft picks are more valuable, especially with supermax options. Most players won't turn down a supermax. Hate them fleecing teams for picks to make more competition in the future for OKC but respect the skills of a good GM.
Donovan Mitchell was selected by the Nuggets
Turn down face cam brightness
Diluting the league is not making it more competitive, when will the NBA will learn that you need to allow 3 great players to join, there are always 9 to 12 men that can win a ring and if those are scattered around the league in single teams, it works in the league favor but we want 1-2 superstars which causes ego fights and makes it more difficult to get good teams.
The Jazz did not draft Donovan Mitchell. The Denver Nuggets did as well as Rudy Gobert. You can thank Tim Connelly once again for trading them both to Utah from Denver after drafting them both. Once again proving he has no idea what hes doing he walked into Jokic in the 2nd round and the Wolves passed on Murray and took Kris Dunn instead. As well as MPJ3 falling to mid 1st because of his back. He traded for Gordon and a couple 2nds and late 1sts have are still playing in the league. Who cares. Tim Connelly loaded the Jazz up on the front and back ends of these deals smh. And if he can identify talent so well why did he trade the players after just drafting them for what ended up being less than what he got in return once again.
If I were them I would trade jordan Clarkson and try to get a 2024 first rounder
The truth is that a guy like Gobert isn’t that much more impactful than a less talented big. Gobert is helpful but can’t have that much of a cap hit on a guy the isn’t impactful…. Perimeter defending big like Bam is much more important with all the 3’s and P&R….
They did not save them selfs they went from a promising team that is good rn with playoffs problems to a promising team in the future that had a great run with no playoffs experaince they salvaged the situation but didnt save shit 😊
Never forget that baptism Kawhi had over Favors. Derrick was never heard from again after that. RIP ☠️
@NateCarrier-rh2mk that dunk was against the jazz and it kinda punched the whole thing home
@@clintonwatson1295 Yes but that's about all it has to do with anything lol and Derrick Favors is on OKC if I'm not mistaken. Or at least was last year but that had nothing to do with this video... The Jazz still played another year together.
Jazz will miss the playoffs for a second year in a row
Ainge is a trade devil
You really should've mentioned the rudy gobert incident that started the nba lockdown
I know the Jazz are decent, but honestly they might be overrated to me. Lauri is their only all-star caliber player, Walker Kessler was a top rookie last year but overall they were worse than their record suggests, Clarkson's fine at best and Sexton isn't the same player, I have a lot of questions for this team right now, they are probably a play-in team at best, very bright future ahead because of Lauri and draft picks and stuff, but looking back I wish they didn't trade Mitchell, especially after him having the best season of his career and averaging over 28 points, I don't know man very great future but I have some questions at the moment, especially with Lauri with all the military stuff do you guys think he will be back by the start of next season he could've already been done but I just need to know.
They literally sat their best players towards the end of the season because they were winning too much lol
@@TheMannyPlays yeah but if it wasn't for the Mavericks collapse they probably would still not get in also forgot to mention the John Collins trade he doesn't change the team that much if I'm being honest.
@@tylersworld3583 bro they literally sat 4/5 starters…thinking they don’t make at least the play-in is silly
@@TheMannyPlays Lauri, Kessler, and Sexton are probably their three best players but don't have the experience, neither does the coach, if they would've kept Snyder and Mitchell around they would probably be a playoff team not saying they're bad but if they were so good, then why did they rest their starters?
