- A tie rod consists of an inner and outer end that transmits force from the rack gear to the steering knuckle.
Symptoms of a Bad Tie Rod End:
- Front end alignment is off
- Steering wheel shakes or feels loose
- Uneven and excessive tire wear
Torque Spec
- Castle Nut: 18 ± 3 ft-lb (25 ± 4 N·m)
- Jam Nut: 29 ± 4 ft-lb (40 ± 5 N·m)
- Wheel Nut: 73 ± 7 ft-lb (98 ± 10 N·m) - Auta a dopravní prostředky
You got the jam nut off finally. A safer tool is a line wrench or a crowfoot spanner. This saves your knuckles. That open end you used has a tendency to slip under pressure.
