This is my first visit to Jones AT&T Stadium. Thank you to my remarkable boyfriend James Paul White ❣️ You inspire me everyday. Awesome first road trip with you! I was amazed by the amenities and attention to detail of this stadium.
Welcome to the Jones! Instead of banners, there are tile mosaics in every inlet of the breezeway (concessions level). These mosaics are derived from pictures taken of our teams through the years. So, there is representation of Tech teams from the earliest years through one depicting a Wes Welker era team. So, we don't use signs or banners because we have something much more permanent! I've been in Boone Pickens Stadium, and both are similar in size. Boone looks bigger due to the field being on grade level, making your stands taller. Our field is below grade, and our stadium seats a few hundred more fans than Boone. Not enough to create an advantage either way. The sub-grade field helps to mitigate high wind conditions. So, I hope this answers your questions regarding the lack of banners. Also, on game day there are flags along the length of the stadium at the highest point of the bleachers.
I’ve also been to both and I didn’t think bps looked bigger. It really reminded me a lot of our east side just as an entire stadium. Therefore our west side is quite a bit larger than anything at OSU.
61,454 is what the Jones holds ! The construction that they are working on, is for improved student, seating band, seating, and then skybox above. It will be a four-story building with a double T on top.. seating capacity will not be lowered. In fact it might increase by a few hundred but what is really great is it’s going to hold in the noise even more and so is 60,000 stadium will sound more like an 80,000 seat stadium.. I live in Lubbock was at the press conference during the announcement of this stadium expansion
Thanks for your positive assessment of the Jones. I was a student when they started working on the West side of the stadium in 1999. The 6 story club suits and broadcast booth is very similar to University of Nebraska's memorial Stadium broadcast booth and suites. They started work on the east side in 2008 to add more club seats and make the stadium look more like the east side giving it that complete look. The area they are renovating now had been built in the early 70's and the sidewalk going east to west had concrete and limestone engraved logos of all the teams from the southwest conference on the sidewalk. For a longtime it was also the coaches offices until the built the new facilities in the early 2000's. Of course where the new indoor practice facilities and track are was once the white dome or what we called the bubble.. I enjoy visiting stadiums too.. i've only seen a walking tour of Boone Pickens stadium, it seems real nice and has come along ways as well since the early 2000.. I like the enclosed horseshoe look.. The paddle pads trip me out kinda like our tortillas.
Hey James thanks for doing a video on Texas Tech. I've always been curious as a tech fan how the scale of our press box stacks up with other schools. Since you've been to so many other stadiums can you tell me if the facade of Jones stadium feels smaller or larger than most. Thank you.
It feels about the same size as KState, Mizzou and OkState. Oklahoma and Texas are bigger and are similar to S. Carolina, Florida and FSU. I hope that give you some perspective
When was the last time you were at the stadium? From the comments you made I'm guessing it was before 2010. Seemed like you haven't seen the stadium since we enclosed the bowl.

Thanks for visiting! We really enjoyed the video. I have been going to that stadium for almost 50 years and I saw things I did not know where there.
I lived in that apartment complex as a student and rode my bike across it every day. It was awesome!
Loved the walk around. Keep in mind you’re seeing a bare bones version, with construction all around and during the off season.

Great video. The Texas Tech facilities and campus are underrated. One of the best in the country

The east side club level is actually a restaurant to club members year round so that’s probably what that lady was going inside for
That building you were walking in front of that's just to the south of the stadium is the indoor track facility.
My favorite part of the video was seeing the pumpjack in red and black
