Since Malak looked through Doug's mind, He probably brought Doug to Mama Bears domain in particular to torment him even further. Mama Bear says kind things with a sweet but eerie voice, and you know you'll end up dying if you let her get to close. It's almost like Mama Bear is a exact representation of how Doug's Mother was, saying how much she loves Doug but hurting him because she couldn't stand him.

Tara Strong is such an unbelievably good voice actor. From the flat bored tone of Raven, ear piercing high pitch of Harley Quinn, the cheerful and intellectual Twilight Sparkle and now the calm collected voices of the Reaper Nurses and Mama Bear. Mad respect to her

Mama bear is just keeping it cool and not being furious
@@Da_speaka_wit_da_bread a bit too cool for me, but I'm p sure that's because they recorded VOs before structuring the stages (which would explain why she sounded flat when Mama Bear "dies" in the pool)
Bro, the way she runs at you is terrifying.
I don’t know, to me it sounds more like what happens when you severely misdirect an actor and they end up sounding incredibly bored.
In a weird, messed up way, the relationship between Malak and his creations is kind of wholesome
Mama Bear too deary
Agatha the annoying daughter
Lucky the loyal sucker punch
Reaper Nurses the man-hating ladies who only appreciate this man
Doom Ducky Pet
Clown gremlin the miss under stood artist.
Murder monkey the loveable goof.
Goldwatcher the uncle trying to be hip with the kids.
Hangry one who wants to eat
Penny the one who thinks you are a squishy toy
And Ellen DeGeneres as bierce.
Stan Agatha
I love how they put a little bit of comedy in such a dark game when Malak is like "what? No Agatha you can't also look, stop annoying me I'm busy" and when mama bear calls Malak "dear Malak" it just goes to show that a game shouldn't always be edgy even if it has a dark tone
Not every dark game is supposed to be "edgy".

I swear that the blue orb is E (It says that she started losing her humanity to the power to follow Malak's path). But since everyone thinks it might be Tammy, it's even possible that E is Tammy (Tamm"E") which can explain why she wanted to help Doug get out of the Mama bear Stage.

they probably do

I bet that they do
Malak has really interesting relationships with the other demons, to the monkeys, the ducks and clowns, he's indifferent, never reacts, just angry if Doug survives, for Agatha, he is very kind to her. It's actually shocking how patient he is for her, caressing her face and speaking to her as if he was her father, he even entertains her. We hear throughout that Agatha wants to see Doug too, pestering Malak. This means that 1. Agatha can enter wherever Malak is whenever she wants and 2. He cares about her and usually plays/entertains her. He is close to the nurses but not personally, the nurses look up to him and Malak is close enough to them that he can make a phone call whenever. To the Joy Joy Gang, he is much closer, they are able to talk casually with him and even beat Doug up without permission and Malak doesn't even react, instead, he praises them. To Mama Bear, he is VERY close, much more than the others (besides Agatha), Mama Bear even calls Malak by a pet name and he just shows slight annoyance, it is also clear he trusts her a lot, especially when he gave rings with his power to her so she could protect them.
Mama Bear and Malak interaction has to be way too much since Malak sends his “unwanted guests” for her to execute them
@Nick Ger Would not be the first time people put aside umbrella hatred for tolerance or even genuine respect for an individual of talent, usefulness, or authority. Or you could argue raw power and might makes right trumps any kind of innate hatred the nurses might feel to the point of loyalty.
Well… it’s basically canon that a nightmare can’t survive for long without a Ring Piece to keep it running, right? So I always thought that after Doug beat Elementary Evil, Malak just took Agatha into his lair to keep her safe, which really solidifies Malak as the best parent in the franchise, and the best we will ever get.
@@benfostersworldofwonder8226 The gold watchers are interesting. I think to Malak, the gold watchers are guests at a rich guy's party, but are treated like gentlemen
I do like how he doesn’t really dictate his demons, ordering them around or even abusing them. No, instead he treated them relatively well to the point where most of his demons have a solid relationship with Malak. I honestly really love that side to Malak how he actually respects his demons and doesn’t look down on them. Even if they lose he puts all his hatred towards Doug (which makes sense).
Malak for best father award XD 😋
There's something about the way Mama Bear says everything in the same tone that feels so perfect. When she's basically yelling at Doug with anger she still sounds sweet, it's like its to the point she CANT talk any other way
I mean there's a theory about each chapter representing one of their memories. Like monkey business for Doug having sexual intercourse with his secretary, Into Madness chapter might represent his child or Bierce's daughter.
This chapter might represent Doug's mother. She had to keep up with the act of loving her son but she liked when her son screams because of him looking like his father. Which explains momma bear sounds so kind but running to kill you. And also the teddy bear his mother gave Doug as a gift. Probably has something to do with the monster's design.
@@user-vk7wn9ii9t Yeah, with this we can assume that each level always exists, but it is different for each person, for example, Bierce confronted snakes and her friend (tape 8) Doug was against the monkeys (symbolizing he is a killer) Agatha (he killed his own Daughter) The gold watchers (he lived a greedy live), The ducks and the clowns (he lied to his wife andhis mother enjoyed his suffering) etc
My personal theory is that each nightmare isn´t directed/made to any person in specific, it is the other way around, the shard collector is selected to go for each nightmare
@@replacableVessel I mean the monsters might be a representation of previous lives that happens to be like his. Or the portals are chosen by the main antagonist to have some form of relevance between their lives.
For example, that person E happens to have gotten in the same place as Doug. But there's aren't that many other notes for you to read. Maybe because there's hundreds of other portals for other people to go through.
I mean there's tons of theory and chapter 5 isn't even out yet.
@@user-vk7wn9ii9t from all we know each nightmare is made by sinners/bad people souls, the tape 8 of Bierce receals that she had to escape snakes and Her friend Edward with a goat mask, so the nightmares seem to be chosen for each mortal
@@replacableVessel Yeah like the main antagonist's servants. Like there might not be snakes in our games is because we don't have the portals to that specific place because Doug didn't experience certain type of things when he's isn't in a coma.
Still don't know how so many portals and we somehow got all portals that leads to a ring piece, but since this is a theory, I won't add too much on it until chapter 5 or something.
I like how unlike other levels, this level is unique in that:
-You don’t get a new power, in fact you start off with no powers and slowly gain them one by one
-Bierce isn’t there to help
-In addition, Bierce doesn’t jeer you whenever you die; it is Malak who jeers you
-A trap can be interrupted by a power
-The beginning of the part starts a cutscene, instead of a hallway or outside of a building
-There is another objective to grab alongside collecting shards; grabbing ring pieces for those powers
-Malak talks a lot in this map compare to other maps

Also there is no ring piece in this level. Bierce already has it bound to her.
The whole time Malak complains, I'm thinking "why didnt you just leave Doug with the Joy Joy gang?" They did their job perfectly!
Well, he needed to use Doug to enter Bierce's ballroom, his actual big mistake was taking Doug to the same place that had the ring pieces.
@@MrMutebe
That's what I'm saying! And the Joy Joy gang was the ONLY group so far to do their jobs right, so why not send Doug back there?
@@frankielovejoy9928 While it is the rational thing to do, I think Malak (after combing Doug's memories) wanted to torment him with a mother figure. Either way he let the small victory inflate his ego too much and it's just so sad that Hangry didn't get any ribs.

Mama Bear directly states “being a single mom is hard”, similar to what the note says. I think this just about confirms the theory that Mama Bear is meant to represent Doug’s mom.
Another piece of evidence to back this up is how in her boss fight, you use Mama’s Bear’s own children to fight against her. This might be symbolizing how Doug’s mom felt, thinking of Doug as constantly bringing her down in the time she spent raised him.
E note states that Mama bear is entity made with souls of abusive mothers, so it isn´t that far to think that doug´s mom is also there
If momma bear represents Doug’s mom then what the treigger teddys are supposed to represent?

You know, if Bierce is going to betray you, the line of "I promised you a new life" could have a more sinister meaning. Perhaps this "new life" is that your character will take Bierce's place in this pocket dimension, trying to trick another lost soul into gathering ring pieces so you can escape, while Bierce gets the new life for herself.
Oh shiz i never thought of that
i've actually seen that trope many times in the books that i've read
The whole ordeal with Doug's mother reminds me of ''Time's Arrow'', the episode from Bojack Horseman. In fact, Doug and Bojack have a lot of similar traits, like doing terrible things to other people and regretting it too late, having a vain life but deep down wanting to be a good person, etc.
Generational trauma runs deep in so many families, and it's so hard to recognize because our parents are the only example of parenting we ever get to see in everyday life.

1:03:12 that's a pretty interesting line from Bierce. after all, out of everyone Doug should understand it the best. Afterall, what he did was no different from Bierce. He abandon his own daughter and family with no care, sacrificed their lives in a car accident so he could have a better one. It's pretty interesting to see that our 3 main characters all have a past of sacrificing others for themselves and how differently they all react to it. Doug feels remorse and regrets about what he had done, Bierce wants power and so much of it to evade her sins, and Malak bathes in his own evil like his sins doesn't even faze him. If you're confused as to why Malak can see what you see but doesn't constantly stop you, I'm pretty sure it's cause Malak doesn't see through you 24/7. He occasionally peers in to check. Now that I think about it, Beirce could see through you too. That's how she always knew what was going on. The same could apply to her, or they both can only look through your eyes and can't do anything else.

I think they’re both capable of breaking and regaining the whole “I see what you see” control thing whenever they feel like it. At 59:05 mama bear says how she'll "never let you go" since mama bear is most likely a symbolization of Doug's mother, could this imply that his mom was a little possessive?
Mama bear also says a few seconds after the chase starts "why do you hurt mama?"
Not only is she talking to Doug like he's her child (kinda weird) but could this have some connection to Doug being "rebellious" to his mother, since most kids who are mistreated by their parents grow to not like them much.
This is pure speculation
This is a spectacularly designed level.
You start out with no powers at all, but all the enemies should be inactive. Once you get the first shard, cloak, this teaches you one of the primary weakness of your main foes without Bearce being able to tell it to you, as its your only option. After a bit of stealth to get into the tunnels, you run into Mama herself. This quick experience emphasizes that you *cannot* let her be close to you for long, but you get Primal Fear for your troubles.
Primal Fear can then be used to trip the traps and explode the Teddies. Problem with exploding the Teddies, though, is that they... explode. Explosions are loud. Unless the number of them is at critical mass or it's your only option, it's generally suboptimal to Primal Fear them, since it will immediately alert Mama to your location (I'm 50% sure this is the case - you can hear voice lines from Mama when you explode them while you're within earshot of her. She may just have perma-wallhacks because Malek, but this, at least in my opinion, would be more interesting). You also get Telekinesis to help speed things up.
Additionally, since Teddies spawn from Mama Bear and randomly disperse from there, even without Telepathy, you can roughly discern her location from where the Teddies are coming from, and how many of them appear. Of course, that can be inaccurate, but it is still better than nothing.
After the first boss fight, you get Sprint Boost. Not really because it's something you need - quite the opposite. By giving you Sprint Boost, they've justified putting in the breakable webs, which can really screw you over if you don't manage your abilities well.
You then get the next couple of powers - amassing all of them except teleportation, and the unknown power of the piece from Mascot Mayhem. If I had to guess why Teleportation was singled out for last, I've got two reasons:
1. If you were given access to it earlier, Mama Bear's primary player detection method (which is pretty important for this game's difficulty), if it is, in fact, explosives, would effectively be voided. You could just teleport through hordes of Teddies and traps instead of being forced to trigger them.
2. There was already enough to manage, having teleport gaps alongside all the stuff in place already would likely have been too much to manage.
Then, being well acquainted with how the Teddies explode, that comes back in the final fight, as you use them on Mama Bear.
Perhaps the reason it's easier compared to the other two is how... straightforward it is. The Teddies are incredibly stupid as far as AI goes, and you get Cloak and Primal Fear very early on. There's no wallhacks, no superspeed, no gimmicks, they just run at you and kaboom. On their own, they're very easy to get around. Mama Bear herself may also be hard to deal with, but her movement speed is extremely slow unless you get close to her. Keep her away, keep yourself from getting blasted, and it's a pretty simple victory. This is in contrast to the lightning fast and super-stealth Reaper Nurses, and the unrelenting swarm of enemies in Mascot Mayhem.
Additionally, there's no gimmick centered around the power you acquired before the level - since you don't get one. Makes me wonder if we've now got the complete toolkit. Possibly, it could be because there's no singular thematic "power" to give you from Mascot Mayhem though, since that level is, well, complete pandemonium with a mix of mechanics. If I had to guess which one we're getting though... I'd say we may get the ability to deploy a decoy. If the Mannequins are brutally fast swarm foes, being able to distract them would be very beneficial.
Definitely looking forward to whatever's in Chapter 5, beginning with what I'm probably going to call Mannequin Massacre unless there's an official name for it already.
Let’s also keep in mind that Mama bear originally never had a ring piece of her own, she is in control of an execution site, so it is not normal for her to get visits of mortals.
And her only contact is via the mortals/demons that Malak tasks her to kill
Yes, she had a ring piece altar, but it was most likely never used, since if it was used then the place would be more populated by trigger teddies to protect the piece or signs there were TT sleeping there
Mannequin Massacre is definitely an amazing level name. I hope that gets added in.
I don’t think we’re getting another power. The list with the upgrades at the altar don’t have anymore slots for new powers

I just can't believe how amazing Chapter 4 is! The atmosphere, cut scenes, and dialog within the three newest portals... you can tell that Glowstick put their heart and soul (pun intended) into this! They've woven such an interesting and intricate story through this whole game and they should be proud of what they've accomplished, especially for such a small team! And Mike, you did an amazing playthrough - can't wait to see your theories and hopefully future S ranks on all three portals!
Yeah, it all also seems so lively! The animation and how the characters talk to each other
The last sentence sounds like a tall order. But seeing as we can't get the "true" ending without it, I say amen to that!
I agree, although I personally don't like how "chatty" the enemies have become in this chapter. It makes everything a lot less scary if every monster gets their drawn-out introduction cutscene and lots of dialogue in between. I kinda prefer how the Gold Watchers or Dread Duckies were introduced for example, just small hints on what to expect and then getting thrown into the madness, instead of having the monster chatter at you for several minutes before the chase begins. Then again, I think it was necessary, since this chapter advances the plot alot and this usually requires dialogue. And having enemies strike up a friendly conversation, even though you know they're out to get you, is pretty unnerving in it's own way!
However, that's just my personal taste, and only a very small detail that irked me a tiny bit. Everything else in this chapter is awesome! The locations, music, designs and some neat ideas to shake up the gameplay a bit!
@@SolvNia What would The duckies say? Quack quack for 3 minuts? Haha, yeah still a Good point even when I myself like how it is in this chapter
@@Marta_OuO Technically, the ducks aren't too different from characters like Mama Bear, so having them talk wouldn't sound too unlikely right now. But yeah, it's just a personal taste of mine, I know other players prefer the more cinematic approach this chapter has and that's cool, too!
I just hope the the mannequins will be silent again. They looked really, really creepy in the preview at the end of chapter 4, and I think having that thing chase after you silently is much scarier than making it constantly talk.

Man after seeing that secret, I feel bad for Doug. I mean, before this secret was found, I thought Doug was one of those ego-heavy kinda people. But now, it seems to make sense a little, considering that now it is revealed he'd been neglected and abused by his own mother.
Note: Everytime I see the words "Neglected" and "Abused", the first thing that comes to my mind are a lot of fanfics.
Yeah, Doug was failed utterly by both of his parents. They're absolutely at least partially to blame for how he turned out
@@dantevalehuntik28 Really? I thought they have a heavy role in Doug's psychology and behavior. After all, they are his parents and they have a responsibility to raise him proper, but that reveal is just... Wow.
And his wife being untrustworthy and seeing his mother behind his back when he's made it clear that he doesn't want to talk about her only shows that he isn't the only toxic one in the relationship. If someone doesn't want to talk about something and you go against their back to find out about it, don't be surprised if he stops being faithful after you stop being faithful. She didn't deserve death but the fact that Doug went back for both of them only shows that he had to have some sort of therapy and self reflection, but he should probably not go back to being in a relationship with her if she isn't going to seek therapy and self-reflection on her trust issues.
Sadly, there comes a point where one is also responsible for their own perpetuation of things, so I don't feel bad for Doug's current circumstances.
He got here by being an abuser and manipulator, oh and that whole murdering his wife thing.

but yeah i am noticing a theme of regretting the past in this game
Not gonna lie, me and Doug are alike (except the parenting and stuff) I used to be a liar in the past and not having good grades, but to make things right, I had to make a new future 🖖🏻
@@UltimateTheaterFreak_777 I hope murder is never in your future
Eh, you can regret what you've done, but regret won't make you a good or evil person. Everybody has regrets. It's both what you've done and what you choose to do about it now that defines you. In Bierce's case, she killed Agatha - a child - for stardom and turned her into the monster she is today. She doesn't show much regret throughout Elementary Evil for this, she doesn't even say she's sorry to Agatha or that she should never have killed her (which, as Agatha pointed out, is kinda pointless since they're both beyond that now) - just that it was unnecessary. No emotion in it, just that her death wasn't necessary. Ouch.
Doug's case is more complex/morally grey, since he didn't MEAN to kill Tammy and he didn't MEAN to kill two other completely unrelated people, but his actions still led to multiple horrible deaths. He doesn't show a lot of regret towards killing his wife, which potentially means he's still unrepentant for that, and as we saw when Malak found him his physical body is elderly and deteriorating. It possibly means that Doug, knowing he didn't have as much time left, decided to try to save his wife and daughter since he would end up dying either way and is thus mixed with selfish motives. Whether that's true or not it DOES mean that Doug waited until he was very ill and/or on his deathbed to do this, when there's honestly no reason he couldn't have done so when he was much younger, and thus the regret only caught up to him very late in life.
So yeah I don't feel sorry for Bierce or Doug. Especially Doug considering his history of assaulting women. Not even with his bad childhood - a bad childhood is one thing but it doesn't make his sins/crimes okay to commit.
@@neofulcrum5013 oh yeah I hope not HAHAHAH
So excited to watch him trying to get S rank in these!
These chapters made me like Bierce, after the Joy Joy Gang stage, when Malak takes us to the Mama Bear stage, she makes a face of despair and stretches her arm towards us as if she didn't want to let us go, and the way she said she was happy when he came back.... And to think that I was the most angry at her ironies 💙💙
I know that people probably don't car but I gotta get my thoughts about this game out somewhere.
I can't believe the redemption arcs in this story like both Doug and Bierce started out as vain power hungry people who didn't think about the repercussions for their actions but by the end of the chapter they're both radically changed people, then the fact that Doug was probably the first minion that Bierce actually cared about, just *chefs kiss* beautiful writing 10/10.
I really needa know if mama bear is wearing a suit like the thought of her not being a giant stuff bear scares me and the cave sections of the stage really made me think of the cave sections from resident evil village.

Also while I don't justify the way Doug behaved or anything, it is interesting to see where it came from. Also his wife was really shitty going behind his back to see his mother... Pro tip: if your partner is not in contact with some member of their family, including and especially close relatives like parents, DO NOT go behind their back to see them and/or find out why. If you're not being told it likely has nothing to do with you and everything to do with them not wanting to relive painful parts of their life. Not cool and I can kinda understand why Doug became so resentful of her after that... that's a massive betrayal and it's likely she ended up using things his mother told her against him.
period.
Although I agree with this statement in real world.
In the game world, I kinda understand where she's coming from. She has been watching her husband going around and sleeping with other women. She also saw how he treated Tammy. He probably said alot of horrible things to her on daily basis and humiliated her constantly (We can see from their fight what he says to her) So, she thought that he was hiding another skeleton in the closet.
All this comes down to is his horrible no unacceptable behavior towards a
his sick wife and his daughter. He didn't have any remorse when they were alive. In fact he wouldn't feel bad for his wife's death, it's only cause of Tammy did he feel remorse (Which is still messed up)
If Tammy wasn't in the car. Well I don't think he would've cared much.
That is true. Although if we want to be fair, we don't actually know if the cheating and mistreatment of Clarissa started before or after her behavior became more volatile (not that that is a justification BUT i can understand it). And I definitely agree, or at least it would have taken him longer to regret it because for as shit of a person he is, murder seemed pretty far out there for him, especially in such a violent manner. Sadly we'll never know.
This is one of those cases where both sides messed up (and yes I put them equally since she did get violent and abusive seemingly before he did, not that it in any way excuses his behavior as I said above). Which I appreciate, I like that it isn't clearly one side was bad and one was good. Both Doug and Clarissa were very flawed and damaged people and it seems neither of them took the needed steps to fix their shit before getting together and having a kid...sadly an all too common occurrence...
@@scorpiolady1995 the note states that doug just got the job and Tammy was recently born, so it is more possible that this was before Doug started cheating/abusing or before the wife noticed it

In less I'm messing early info, I don't think Doug tampered with the car. I think he tampered with his wife's drugs.
With the focus on the pills, he may have tried to get her killed or institutionalized via overdose. However, while on the pills, she took Tammy on a drive.
That would explain Doug's line about not expecting the wife to drive and not wanting to deal with the kid ( which is probably why the wife went to pick up the kid herself).
