    When I was a kid my mom would always play this and the CDs she loves it.
    Hearing it all again, over 15 years later, is pretty eye opening and nostalgic for me.
    Same with her love of ABBA, haha, i inherited that too :P
    This stuff is magical.

    God I loved this CD so much that my wife and I saw Lord of the Dance LIVE back in 1996 at the Anaheim Pond, it was incredible. We loved Riverdance as well WITH Michael Flatley and being a guy that love precision, I have to say I liked this so much more. This was born through Flatley. This was more than a show, it was an experience that we'll never forget, so thank you Michael! Nothing like listening to this with a good Peterson Irish Pipe...Dan

    My absolute favorite number. The music gives me goosebumps; it's so beautiful and I don't know what they call the dance " move" , but I like when they pivot in mid-air. (Time stamp 7:21). That move has always fascinated me ; almost like the triple Axel in figure skating . I read a comment, that this type of dancing, requires athletic ability and I agree. I was a distance runner. When you use your feet and legs that much, you have to be physically fit.

    as i understand it, Riverdance was "thrown together" in a matter of months. The result was pure grace under pressure - the music and dances were wonderful.
    This was not.
    I saw Lord of the Dance live, and it's always exciting to see a live performance, but the performance itself was disappointing. I was particularly disappointed with how much of the production revolved around Michael Flatley.
    Don't get me wrong; it had its moments, and they were brilliant. Lord of the Dance simply lacked the substance that Riverdance had.

    • @mathiasp.l3196
      @mathiasp.l3196 Před 8 lety +3

      +inkadinkadoodle Honestly its hard to compare the shows to each other, cause Lord of the dance has an unique storyline, and riverdance is basicly a river of different dances, while LOTD is pure irish dancing,
      Both shows are great though :)

    • @inkadinkadoodle
      @inkadinkadoodle Před 8 lety +1

      +Mathias Priis Larsen Yes, that's exactly what the two shows were, and I agree, with one exception: I think that Riverdance had a more traditional "Irish dance" feel to it. Lord of the Dance, although no less a show of true Irish dancing, had a more contemporary feel. That's what it feels like to me, anyway. :))
      Nevertheless, I do agree that it's hard to compare...a bit like the "apples to oranges" comparison, yes? :)
      Thanks for your reply!

    • @inkadinkadoodle
      @inkadinkadoodle Před 8 lety

      +Mathias Priis Larsen I don't see it, either, and the two shows were definitely meant to be that different. Riverdance just had a totally different theme than Lord of the Dance, which went very much into magic/mythical Irish themes. :) I liked that, and I agree - Riverdance didn't have that. It was just a different thing. :))
      Thanks for your reply. Cheers!

    • @inkadinkadoodle
      @inkadinkadoodle Před 8 lety

      +hippogriffgirl Absolutely! I do agree. :) I responded to another comment, and I mentioned that the two shows were so different from each other. Beautifully so, I might add! :))
      In comparison with Lord of the Dance, Riverdance is definitely more contemporary but still sticks to tradition. It's a great blend of the two.
      Lord of the Dance had a lovely, magical theme that I enjoyed. I just didn't enjoy it as much as Riverdance, that's all.
      Thanks for your response, my friend! :))
