I just saw this movie and as someone who was a fan of Whitney growing up, Naomi did not disappoint. She had Whitney’s expressions and gestures down. Especially during the performances which we have all seen. It also made me emotional as a fan to see Whitney up there on the screen again, even if it’s not actually her.

I just watched the movie today. Funny they showed a clip of "Cinderella', as to me Naomi Ackie looks more like Brandy Norwood than Whitney Houston. Having said that, Naomi Ackie mimicked Whitney's speaking voice and mannerisms perfectly and uncannily. Naomi would definitely deserve an Oscar nomination. It's a tour-de-force performance.
Audiences love it, the critics don't like it much. 92% audience rating and 45% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes. I've just seen it here in the UK and thought it was excellent.
I was opposed to watching someone portray the late great Whitney Elizabeth Houston. A night out turned into dinner and a movie and I’m not sure what the other movie was, I just remembered it was 3 hours long. I ended seeing this movie with no expectations and Naomi blew my mind. I went home and pulled up all the original videos of Whitney and this movie replicated every performance accurately. Thank you all for representing Whitney’s legacy so well. Her talent is missed, those of us who grew up during this era miss her terribly.
after the superbowl i remember just about everyone, incl. the media, talk more about whitney's performance than about the game ;). i myself saw it live on tv and was blown away by her performance.
Saw the movie a few days ago. It didn’t tell me anything new that I didn’t already know…but it was still a great Movie. Naomi really did Whitney justice…she got all the little subtleties down pat…the way Whitney inhales, exhales…her lip syncing was so on point I swear she was actually singing the songs. I fell in love with Whitney Houston when I saw her in The Bodyguard. I was obsessed with her music and looks. Around that time I was also raised around the movie "Coming to America" with Eddie Murphy. I thought Whitney was truly a Princess from Africa like Prince Akeem. I wanted a barbie doll like her to add to my collection but they never released one. :(

She went through 8 months of training with an accent coach and two movement coaches. To majority of us (and I say this because I run a Whitney fan group of over 100k people) - she has done a FABULOUS job.

This is an excellent film. Ackie doesn't look like Mrs. Houston but she embodies her role with style and grace. It's a must see.
