- Learn how to create epic long lines in your solos similar to Slash of Guns n Roses, using the switch back technique. A common way of changing fingering of Minor Pentatonic to mix up the notes and by doing so, create a more interesting and longer ascending line up the fretboard.

Most of the time I'm guilty of passively consuming youtube, but on this occasion I sat down with my guitar and followed the lesson in detail. Then spent an hour soloing over backing tracks using the switchback technique. The result was amazing, my solos are suddenly faster and more fluid. Thank you for a great lesson 😊.
Great job then! That's the way to do it. Lots more lessons on the channel
Game-changer! Thank you very much, Mr. Vancouver - or may I already call you GuitarLessons?
It really IS a gamechanger! One of the most helpful guitar videos I have ever seen! That will help my playing a lot.
Thank you! Sure, that works :)
Next lesson on the opposite direction please, just as cool as Tim Pierce does 😀
Not sure what Tim Pierce does, but I do have a video on the descending version. I tend to do a roll in that case -- czcams.com/video/GT-LSqGweeM/video.html
when switching from one string to another on the same fret I just naturally finger roll which I believe results in much less movement than changing fingers. I do use the 2nd finger on extensions. I respect you as an instructor so I'll play with this some and see what happens. (the jam at 10:50 reminds me of Godzilla by BOC. Go go godzilla!)
Good point. I tend to do the finger roll when descending the scale as in this lesson czcams.com/video/GT-LSqGweeM/video.htmlsi=DNGX2k3FS57SmIcN
Your playing over that jam track is my type of music. Love the tips. Thanks
Cool thanks!!
That's amazing Blue! I've seen videos of Slash doing that, but I couldn't work it out before. Thanks so much for blowing me away again! 🤯
Thank you! Glad I could help 🎩
That´s a lot of fun to play!😃 It somehow reminds me of the song "Life in the Fast Lane" by the Eagles. Great Lesson, thank you!
I know what you mean. Life in the fast lane does jump strings same fret.
Another excellent lesson! Thanks!
Thank you very much!
AMAZING!!!!! Thank you for all you do, for all of us
Thank you as always!
Very cool 😎 Thanks
Thanks for watching!
Genial lo tuyo Blue, hiciste de nuevo una gran clase, me pongo a practicar !! Gracias!!
Gracias de nuevo José!!!
Great video! BTW, Blue looks like Piers Morgan and Loki had a baby......good luck un-seeing that image you now have in your head. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
wow. just WOW !
'Switchback' .. i sound different now.
thanks !
Thank you again!!
1st run 6:48. Thank you for this Blue.
Thank you again 😀
Another great less Blue.
The muscle memory is starting to kick in and it's feeling more natural adding the extra finger to make the solo's less "scaley".
Well done. Didn't take long then 😀
Would content like this be in your second book? I already have the first book.
This particular technique is not in the second book, but lots of other great ideas are in there :) The second book picks up where Book 1 ends, focusing on Major Pentatonic: www.bluemorris.com/shop
I already been doing this without knowing what I was doing. It got me out of that box pentatonic sound. Thanks Blue. What gauge strings do use? I’ve got small hands.
Cool thanks! I normally use 10 gauge strings. But 9s are good too.
👍
Thanks for watching
@@GuitarLessonsVancouver My favorite lessons on the internet! Consistent and detailed at a learnable level!🙋👍
Phil Manzanera does this in his great solo in the Roxy Music song, "In Every Dream Home A Heartache". czcams.com/video/G56DaSAeZfM/video.htmlsi=uwwerohBqcK6VKda
Hmmmm nice I'll check that out thanks 😀
@@GuitarLessonsVancouver Btw, I bought both your soloing books. They’re great. Any plans for another book?
@@solomonwaigani4512 Thank you Solomon! I hope to release another book later this year. Probably not until the fall or so though :)
