My mom had polio, it affected her legs she is now in a wheelchair. Disney was renovating the parkinglot and had the handicapped parking in an area that they just used the normal ones that were close. My mom has to be able to open her door all the way to get from the car to the wheelchair and this could not happen in the closer regular parking. I am lucky to have been strong enough to help as she used the car next to us to get out. It was a horrible experience. At the end of the night we were given the wrong directions to the temporary handicapped parking area and had to take what amounted to a half hour detour. We used to go every year with my kids and my mother we have not been back since and never will.
It is very sad what Disney is doing to disabled people
The law requires accommodations for disabilities whether they are physical or mental.
Here is the thing. DAS is not skipping the line. You have to wait the same amount of time the line posts for and then wait more in the fast pass line. Also usually the wait time is shorter than what is posted so DAS usually waits longer. People have real reasons to use this and now are being told no. Also the alt solutions of return to line are not being implemented by the cast members (not their fault) as on many rides did not see a cast member in the lines to help and requires a guest’s party wait out of line while the guest went to the bathroom. That is not how it was told it would work. Also Jeff’s buddy is thinking the genie plus is like universal’s where you can just go into the lighting lane whenever you want if you pay. Disney does not work that way.
The guy on the left needs to do some research on exactly the different ways autism affects us. It’s called a “spectrum” disorder for a reason. Can I work full-time? Only with accommodations which are tailored to my specific needs, which include my issues created by my comorbidity of sensory processing disorder. Yet, from what’s being alleged with the new Disability Access Service at Disney Parks, because I understand the function of a queue, I may no longer qualify for the DAS whereas I qualified for it before, and contradicting how it is the program is being advertised which their own website states is for, “…Guests who, due to a developmental disability like autism or similar disorder, are unable to wait in a conventional queue for an extended period of time.”
100% correct, my grandson has a 148 IQ but has autism, he is 5 and going into 4th grade, but can’t speak to people and give him name or address.
$16 for GeniePlus is long gone. Today it is $27 per person plus tax for Magic Kingdom, which comes to about $120 extra for a family of four per day. The ILL for Rise of Resistance is $22 per person. Genie Plus is what started this whole mess.
people with disability have a $900.00 paycheck a month some even lower than that hello.
Took my mom with stage 4 to Disney. Got DAS for her. Was amazed I could get through the park in half a day which was good for her as she couldn’t have taken a full day. That said as a normal goer, people like me armed with a DAS make the wait times longer.
I think they need to just set it up so you can’t sign up for the next virtual queue once you checked into the current ride.
16!? Let’s say over 30 for genie!!
Ah inflation strikes again.
We give up that right when we buy the ticket
a company for kid need to make accommodation for kids with special need. if you need prove of disability ask i will provided with no problem .
Sorry, youll pay $30+ per person per day on top of your ticket, and then again pay anywhere from an additional $15+ to over $25 per person per ride for a Lightening Lane to try to get on a little faster.
And this is Disney's plan...force disabled individuals to pay for what they utilized just a month ago. Disney is interested in $$$$$$$$$
Depending on the Park Genie+ is $20-$30 and allows Lightning Lane access to a select amount of attractions. Those rides also offer a stand by option.
Certain Rides roughly 1 per park offer an Individual Lightning Lane that you can purchase to skip the line. Those rides also offer a stand by option.
Virtual Queue is currently available on Tron, Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind and soon to be Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
Das and Non Das guests both have the same opportunity to ride based on a lottery system. You can also purchase an Individual Lightning Lane for these rides. Both Das and Non Das can purchase that individual Lightning Lane.
Thanks for the updated info.
@@Kaufman-Lynd sorry I edited my 1st line. I kinda sounded like a jerk.
@@jk1271 No worries.
They specifically instruct that they do not want any medical records.
They don't want medical records because a lot of people get mad when they are asked for them. I've seen a lot of videos of people saying they shouldn't 'have' to prove their disability, they shouldn't 'have' to pay to see a doctor and that Disney should just take them at their word.
It's the same with service dogs. Supposedly, business owners are not allowed to ask what the dog is servicing because it's discriminatory,
I'm disabled. And I don't care if you need medical records. I have nothing to hide. I went to Disney in France and you DO need a doctor's note to prove you need special accommodation. It's funny how there are a lot LESS 'disabled' people needing accommodation there than there are at Disney World
Thanks for doing this. Would love an in depth conversation about A. L. v. Walt Disney Parks and Resorts US, Inc., No. 20-12720 (11th Cir. 2022)
I have nerve damage and it was a Disney cast member suggested the GAC to me. The GAC card was made out in the person of needs name and their party. It clearly stated on the card you must show ID. My wife and I had our license out and not one Castmember looked at my ID. The problem was they would get it for Grandma and she would get tired and go back to the room. The rest of the party would use the card and get to the front of the line. If Disney told the CM’s to check ID’s this crap would never started.
I think it was NY Magazine not 60 minutes. I personally don’t believe a person with the GAC card took people on tours. I think the story was planted by Disney.
When my girlfriend worked Disney in 1990's she said a lot of cast members that worked backstage, and had handicaps, would rent themselves sells out as tour guides to get extra money.
@@C2CSubCommander it was never proven by Disney. If it did happen they should have fired them.
500% increase in 5 years
Both are correct, not worth the lines and the cost! The Genie Plus doesn’t include skip the lines for allll only for two rides that are participating that day. It’s $30/ person/ per park/ per day!
It’s per ride jack
Too many fakers getting das pass and bs handicap stickers its all bullshite
There is no line skip
Rich people have to pay for a w/c, but so don’t poor people. Rich people pay for someone to read to the blind, poor people do also. Rich people pay for a vacation, poor people do also, if they can’t afford Disney don’t go. My parents never once paid for a Disney vacation, but we had a summer place in main, a mobile home on a lake, we went all the time. Change to afford your live. But for me the biggest problem I have, is that parents take a autism child to Disney, so your kid has sensory issues and you take him to Disney for a week and think you should get it all for free. That is called child abuse to me, run the kid all over Disney throwing fits, screaming with sensory overload and scare the hell out of him putting him on tower of terror, because he has the DAS and no one can wait in line so the kid has to go.
