    The camera that you mounted on the tripod look to be either the D810 or D850. If this is the case, forget the bubble level and use the in camera level. Works great.

    I still have an old (ancient) Slik. Weighs a ton. Looks like you're doing OK there. Same here, so far, so good.

    Great review - I agree with your assessment of the head - the short distance between knobs would be enough to keep me away from the head, but then add to that the levels - I rely on them too much and need them to be responsive. Not a fan of ball heads - just too fidgety for me. Obviously many people like them and they work well for them. I also would be concerned about wear and tear from having to torque down on the handles to hold the heavier camera/lens combinations - usually means you are getting some sight wear which will lead to a cycle of more torquing, more wear etc.
