SIOBHAN MCALEESE BIOG
Siobhán McAleese is originally from Kells, County Meath, now living near Dunderry in Co. Meath with her husband and two children. Siobhán has been involved with music all her life (choirs and musical theatre) but only recently began vocal training as a therapeutic way of coping with a new diagnosis (Secondary Addisons Disease), after a benign tumour was found on her pituitary gland. This is a rare disorder that affects the production of cortisol. Following surgery in October 2019 to remove the tumour, Siobhán’s recovery is going from strength to strength, mirroring that of her musical journey.
Siobhán released her debut studio single, O Mio Babbino Caro by Puccini in September 2020, and followed this with her second single in December 2020, Nella Fantasia. Nella Fantasia, by Ennio Morricone, was released in aid of Mental Health Ireland and The Pituitary Foundation Ireland, and features the Prague Filmharmonic Orchestra as well as Irish violinist Kenneth Rice.
Siobhán has featured in publications and media such as RTE1.ie, The Meath Chronicle, LMFM, The Farmers Journal, Womans Way, IMRO, Irish Daily Mirror, thebeat.ie and Life FM Cork, where she has shared her story of recovery and how music has been her hope in times of darkness. Siobhán’s music video of Nella Fantasia is meant to portray a “message of hope for anyone who is struggling and to show that you can achieve anything you set out to accomplish if you work hard at it.”
Siobhán studies voice with Deirdre Shannon (formally Celtic Woman) and is currently back in the studio working on her third single, set for release later this year. - Hudba
