Mike, the 1999 price tag is a big no.... ram and dsp chips are not that expensive as it was.... basically this needs to be renamed as an APPLE iKeyboard (apple overprice everything ) , you can have a laptop that cost 500 and run analog lab inside, a decent controller cost 200 to 500.... for half the price you got the same... and more cause you can add more players instead just arturia.... so imho Arturia dont justify the 1k USD upcharge just for the pretty colors and ergonomics. Stick the apple logo change the name to the iKbd and there you go !!!
I agree. New MODX7+ is $1,500 now, a much better deal, nice big screen and wide range of lovely sounds. Has search capabilities (Astrolab doesn't, yuck!) for any sound and drag/drop sounds for sets and quick multitimbral capacities/easy quick splits.
Interesting. Thanks Mike! Unlike another commenter, $1,999 does not seem excessive to me, given the large number of onboard sounds that you can edit and also use in a DAW. I am not a stage performer, but I can imagine the value of having dozens of legacy synth emulations available to cover most classic songs from the 1960's thru 1990's and beyond. Add to that the ability to play Pigments presets and you have a powerful setup for live performances. It is true that you can buy a powerful synth/sample workstation for not much more money. Such a rig covers all the legacy patches just as well as the AstroLab, plus adds multitrack recording and advanced midi controller features. You can even edit the presets on a computer. But even given all that, I think AstroLab is a brilliant innovation and is worth the money to a stage performer who values the wealth of sounds presets in the Arturia ecosystem without the hassles of using a computer in a live show. Will I buy one? Probably not. I am studio only with room for only one keyboard. I own a workstation that cost triple the price of the AstroLab and that is relegated to ignoble use as a midi controller for virtual instruments like those in the Arturia V Collection. If they produce an 88 weighted key version with poly aftertouch for MPE, I might be interested.
I like the concept but given the screen sizes we're used to these days I think I'd find the small screen frustrating. It would be cool with a pop up or fold up larger screen.
I know 2 G's seems like alot but in the grand scheme of things, thats a great deal considering all it does. You're going to pay that much no matter what instrument you play if you want to be a functioning musician that plays with other musicians. I'd say its worth it.

Looks like a cool product, would rather it had more hands-on control (paging through encoder functions similar to the Hydrasynth), but I guess I'm looking at it from a production point of view, where it's probably more aimed at gigging musicians.

Can you turn off the screen? I mean I can imagine that while writing a song the keyboard could be set to piano and then forgotten for days. Being watched with that eye... is a turn off.
Since I have been trusting Creative Sauce for a long time, I'd like to think that is not an Arturia "paid" review. But since the video ONLY mentions positives and (very weirdly) no sound demo, I find myself doubtful. Particularly for a product that to me is far from revolutionary, but in fact one that pales in comparison to what is available on the market. Oh well...
Hey man. Thanks for supporting the channel. In retrospect, I probably should have played more sounds than just those in the intro. I think because I'd done so many videos about Analog Lab, I'd assumed that people could hear it from there. Then there was the choice of which ones would I choose. To showcase all of them would take too long. As I say, you make a good point, and in retrospect, I should have included at least some sounds. In terms of good/bad points. I feel it's important that I'm totally honest in reviews. Whilst i don't think I should feel the need to be positive for the sake of it, I don't feel I should fake negativity either. The fact is, I couldn't find any negative things to say. It's a well built, and I think, well thought out keyboard. Others may have a different opinion, but if I had said a bunch of negative things, I'd would have been lying. I understand that may seem as if I'm being dishonest, but I think it's worth remembering this. Some CZcamsrs may seem more honest because they are negative. But if you look closely, you'll see they often get more views (more money) by having negative inflammatory titles. So be careful with them also! I hope you don't feel I'm being combative with you, I really do appreciate your opinion. But I pride myself on my honesty and being able to sleep at night. And I do indeed sleep like a baby :)

Interesting keyboard, but I would have expected a 73-key version for this price (£1599)... an 88-key around £1999... and this 61-key around the £1200 mark, personally. Not struck on the WHITE either... black preferred... so it will be just like Arturia to bring a black version out about a year or two from now.
Curious, with all of the 'free' sounds that come with it, once you connect it to your computer, do you then have access to those via AnalogLab, even after disconnecting your AstroLab?
No poly aftertouch, screen is more gimmicky than practical. Could have had a nice big screen. Faders are nice to play live organs, plenty of space for them. How long after you turn it on can you play it? I sold my Kronos (which basically has a pc inside) as I’d get an idea, run to the keyboard, by the time it had finished powering up, idea was gone. I’d probably be a lot more positive if I still played live, my biggest concern is that I was hoping they come out with a new Keylab with poly aftertouch, if they haven’t got it in their new flagship product, I can’t see them putting it in their next Keylab.
For that price I could buy myself an Apple Watch to super glue onto my current MIDI keyboard(which is basically what this product amounts to), and still have enough money to get the LASIK eye surgery I would need to be able to use the fucking thing. 👍😂⌚️🧐
