Buckle up, this is about to be a long comment. I am a huge fan of SSKJL and just wanted to go through the video in an attempt to defend a game that I find very enjoyable. I will be giving my criticisms and other thoughts of this video in chronological order with timestamps to when I am referring to. 0:12 (Intro) Not starting off strong with not playing the game, you are allowed to have thoughts on the story without playing the game, but there are gameplay criticisms that you give that don't make sense considering you didn't even feel it out for yourself. 2:28 (The Good Stuff) It just seems wrong to say there is nothing good about the game without playing it. So, I will be giving my top 3 favorite things about this game. 3) The variety of weapons and upgrades at your disposal allows for a very customizable experience. There are so many different playstyles and gameplay differences just by switching up what kind of upgrades you are using, or if you want to use the premade synergy boosts or theory craft your own way to use the weapons. 2) How the movement feels in combat with most characters. With the exception of Harley, all the squad members have incredibly engaging ways to dodge around their opponents and mix movement with gunplay. all around it feels super smooth to move fast while shooting. Even Harley has her fun moments! 1) The character work in this game is simply incredible. The squad members all have great chemistry with one another and it feels really nice to have them slowly build up their relationship over time. At the beginning of the game their dialogue is much more harsh towards each other while at the end they act like good friends and will joke with each other, this game's characters pop with personality and you can't help but love the squad by the end. 2:40 (Graphics) I don't have much to say here, the graphics are nothing to write home about, but they are nowhere near as bad as you make them out to be. There is a clear art style they went for and I believe they did it fairly well. I'm not going to pretend that Arkham Knight didn't have better graphics and with that in mind, I do agree the graphics could have been slightly improved, but this isn't a huge deal. 3:55 (Gunplay) You need to have played the game to have an opinion on this. No video is going to feel the gunplay for you in a way that does it justice. As for melee combat being stiff, melee in this game is designed to be interwoven with gunplay. After you melee an enemy you get guaranteed crits on the target for a few seconds. This is why the melee looks stiff if that is all that you are using, melee is designed to snap to your target so you can hit them in the air and then shoot them to death from there, not as your only form of close-quarters combat. 5:16 (jokes) I can't really convince you that something is funny. All I can say is that the "Hazbin Hotel" jokes aren't as common as you say they are. The vast majority of the jokes do not rely on sex or curse words to be funny. 6:10 (Wokeness) Yes, Sweet Baby inc did help write the game, but they were only consultants. It was confirmed that the majority of the writing was done by the people who wrote Arkham City and Arkham Knight. 7:20 Deadshot was race-swapped to match his more modern Will Smith appearance in the movie, there isn't much more to it because it's just to make his character more recognizable to a wider audience. they even gave an in-lore reason for it and I have no idea why you wanted them to ignore that he changed colors; they cared enough to create a whole new character around this new Deadshot instead of taking the lazy way out. 8:17 They are not using Harley Quinn as a role model of morality. It was a joke they wanted to make so they made it. It was not a letter to all women to go touch people's butts. 8:54 Wonder Woman not being mind-controlled was a great Idea. It creates an interesting dynamic with her seeing all her friends be turned evil and her not wanting to hurt them. It is used to show a clear divide between the ways of the squad vs the ways of Wonder Woman, with her unwillingness to kill ultimately leading to her own death. Yes, I do wish the other League Members had more memorable deaths, but that shouldn't taint an example of a great death that adds depth to the overall story. 9:42 (Ugly Women) No. I don't know where you got the idea that the women are ugly in this game. Their models are beautiful and well-made. Just because the women aren't in revealing clothes does not make them ugly. Honestly, how did this make it into the video? 11:14 (Green Lantern) The ring was corrupted and acted differently because of that. We can see this when it almost causes King Shark to kill the squad. This corrupted ring seems to not be too picky about how evil its host is so it makes sense that Shark was able to use it for that short time. Also, it was a really fun moment. 13:39 (League Killing Gadgets) You explained it pretty well, the suicide squad does need these gadgets to kill the league. That's the point. The suicide squad is meant to take on impossible odds and somehow find a way to win, that's literally in their name. By all reasonable accounts, this is a suicide mission, that's why it's cool to see them come out on top. 14:30 (Batman) Batman should have survived to see what he had done. I need to know how he would have responded, and this was a legitimate shortcoming of the game. So much wasted potential for a story about Batman coming up with contingencies for himself (maybe he appoints a new Batman or a Batman beyond) or even just going mad knowing that he took countless lives. If you read all that, I thank you for at least considering my thoughts. I would really like this to be a discussion because I truly believe that this is a great game that has potential for a long future.
