Congratulations ! I tried with success a second strap on which we sit ... For big lutes, archlutes, theorbs and nowadays even for standard lutes ... So I avoid the cushion ... Moreover the first strap may be placed even nearer. For instance, between the first and second peg. But I must admit I had big problems a few days ago because the first strap was a bit too loose wearing a shirt ... So I added a pull over to avoid having to change my strap length ... You move while playing ... It is not bad ... But with these two straps and perhaps your beautiful cushion instead of the second strap, you might perhaps (I played that way, too ... and still do it sometimes ...) find pleasure in playing with a lute in a more steady position. I mean which does not move much ... Both ways of playing are good so it is really up to us to find a preference ... It is very personal ...
Well done ! I love it ... Great thanks, all the best ...
A friend of mine gave me a link with a double strap maker for lutes ... Easy to find ... I might order ... as my second strap is just added and it is not very beautiful to look at ... The length of the second strap is to be defined ad of course, shorter than the first one.
On CZcams we now find videos of great professional Renaissance lute players using two straps ...
