@BriansPhotoShow ...did you know that the Chinon camera company was als one of the first companies that developed an autofocus lens for their SLR cameras in the early eighties? I gues it was 1981 or 1982. Actually Chinon (or their outsourced partner) manufactured two autofocus lenses (AF 50mm f1.7 & the AF zoom 35-70 mm f/3.3-4.5) for the Chinon CE-5 and CP-5, CP-6 SLR's. But these two AF lensen were so-called "self-contained autofocus lenses" , this meant that deze lenses consisted of a in-body autofocus system, an infrared AF system in particularly (not contrast or phase detection detection kind)!
Each of the Chinon AF lenses operated apart from the camerabody when its comes to powering the AF motor and its circuits (likely comparable with the Canon FD 35-70mm f4 AF, from 1981, has als have stand-alone AF system within) because its uses 3 AA-bateries to function.
So these lenses could fit on any Chinon SLR camera from 1981 with a K-mount but also Pentax, Ricoh SLR cameras with a K-mount..!
    Kind regards 😊

Might have to look into picking one of these up, I've always just kind of disregarded Chinon cause basically everyone on the internet says to haha. Another great video, cheers!

What I know about Chinon? They made floppy disk drives for computers in the 1980s and 1990s. Not sure though whether that was the same company.

I have an Auto Chinon 35mm f2.8 which is a fabulous lens in my opinion. Sharp and produces good images without much processing needed. Plus I have a 135mm f2.8, but i haven't shot with that as much. Don't know much, other than they are staying in mny collection.

I have a Soligor 200/3.5 for non-AI F mount . I only paid 25 USD for it, and for the money it is a nice lens. I like it on my FT2 and I also use it with my Fuji X-T2.

Chinon 55mm 1.7 is one of the great ones, 28mm f2.8, 135mm f2.8 M42 mount versions also, but not all of them. As far as I know Tomioka made some of the Chinon and Ricoh lenses

Hi BPS, saw your color portrait files with this one (so just bought it after visiting your Flickr, & went for the Chinonflex vs the Auto Chinon).
Portrait files wide open &... CA corrected in post ???

@@BriansPhotoShow Thx BPS, seems more than OK... but CA control could be < 200 Konica - Minolta QF - Takumar (I really don't know, I guess given what I've seen so far).
From 4 Konica zoom 80-200 3.5 I own, only 1 is acceptable/ it's the oldest Gold single coated / like new / @ 200 mm 3.5, pretty sure you don't get the IQ of your Chinonflex.
Don't know what's happening with my latest MC Konica zooms. / Wide open they are so blurry, it's unbelievable. Maybe front lens adjustment needed or very poor glass control at the end of the production ? Sounds so scary about Konica lenses.

Of the Chinon, Konica, and Nikkor 200mm which do you prefer overall..? Thank you for these on-point bite size reviews/comments.

The Hexanon and Nikkor are comparable in terms of image quality. The Nikkor is more compact, whereas the Hexanon is usually less expensive. The Chinon is a good deal for the money if you're into M42.
