Oh my goodness I was having such a difficult time trying to follow 5 stand braid hair tutorials. I found your tutorial for braiding bread & it was much easier to follow. My trick is making two loaves of three braids, one smaller than the other, and using egg wash to glue them together.
After it bakes, it looks much more complex than it was.

Bravo Madame!! I have been learning how to make Challah bread which does involve braiding bread. When explained to me on the video I couldn't grasp it at all. You have explained it beautifully and simply so that anybody can not only understand it but do it. I am actually going to try practicing these techniques with clay to see how I do. I found myself saying with you outside over one under two! So simple. I braided my hair in the military for 15 years so I admit to having advanced knowledge of 3 strand braid. Even under heavy seas and freezing temps I could do it. Crush injury to my dominant hand made me forget about baking for many years until recently.
Your video sparked my desire to make Challah bread and do the 9 strand braid. Took some time but I practiced with bread flour and lots of yeast. Sort of a pizza dough, baked it for the birds when done.
My friend has cancer, I made him his favorite bread and it healed me too.
