  • This is a how to video on taking the 2nd and 3rd row seats out of a 2010 Toyota Highlander. We bought this Highlander with the plan to create a camping setup in the back, so this was the first step in that process. Be sure to subscribe to see videos coming soon on the build.

    I had a 2000 Ford Windstar once, I could whip the rear and mid seats out in about 2 minutes. Well designed. This basically has answered my question - the Highlander seats AREN'T removable ...

    Thank you for showing the second row cable disconnect. I fought (and fought and was completely stumped) with mine and now have an idea of how to approach it as I finish my build out.

    Good explanation for how to remove that cable underneath. Only took me a couple minutes after hearing you explain and show it.

    @ 8:00 That spring-loaded cover that rotates up when you lift the third row is removeable. With the 3rd row flat, lift up that hinged cover, and pull at the base from the ends first and the fasteners (which are attached to the narrow hinge panel) simply let go from their slots in the black plastic below. THAT helps you remove the two side pockets.

    I'd like this video more if the dimensions were stated after taking out everything, so I would know if it was worth it.

    what do people do with the seats when they pull them out? throw them out? sell them? store them to install when selling? I want to move around, so I don't want to store them. I am not sure if there is a market for selling them. Would like to hear what others have done.

    For the 2012 there are 9 14mm bolts 3 on each side two in the middle and one under the plastic cover in the front between the seats. You have to pry the cover up.

    I was wondering if I should trade in my kia optima for a highlander preferably this gen ...I was wondering about the ups and downs of owning long term.

    • @LucasMoore
      @LucasMoore  Před 2 lety +1

      That's a great question! Unfortunately we have only had this highlander for a short time now. From what we have heard about it, it seems to be great long term generally speaking. I would think that could be a good trade though!

      320k miles on my 2008 Highlander. Keep it well maintained and it will run circles around a Kia.

    How much did you pay for your '10 Highlander? They are great cars that last forever.

    I am considering a highlander for my next vehicle, to make into a camper conversion, so I am here for reasons. But first is how does Stacy/Stacey/Stacie/Staci spell her name? It is traditional to ask that when meeting a fellow S. (I am Stac(i) )

      Luckily we were able to finish getting the seats out fine. We are currently in the process of creating a bed platform to fit the back of the highlander. We should be done soon with a video to follow! :)
