    I didn't learn this in riding school. We learned that we have to sit down and like follow the motion of the horse. I can't tell how many times I've fallen off a horse while gallloping. I have something called the crystal disease which causes me to lose my balance every once in a while, this is why I've fallen off so many times. I stopped riding because I thought that I would never be able to truly enjoy riding a horse ever again because of this disease, but I've recently started horse riding again and I won't let this disease stop me. Thank you for great tips!

      gilliangirl1 not trying to be rude but how does an ear disease affect your balance?

    • @gilliangirl1
      @gilliangirl1 Před 7 lety +17

      CiCi LPS
      It affects my equilibrium so I have reduced proprioception, that is, I can't tell which way is up!

      CiCi LPS your hearing actually helps balance! Try and balance on one leg while covering your ears then not and see which is better

      @DomoEatsYoko Před 9 lety +9

      If you watch closely at the slow mo, you can see all 4 feet hit the ground separately, a 4 beat gait. Also there is a moment of suspension, where all four feet are off the ground. This was galloping technically. Just a very steady and controlled one. :)

    • @heathercountied2676
      @heathercountied2676 Před 9 lety +2

      DomoEatsYoko I appreciate your correction but it is a canter haha. the canter also has a moment of suspension and while cantering a horse would not have such a good and controlled form as it is showing in this video (its head would not be as collected etc) :)

    • @madidofficial
      @madidofficial Před 9 lety +9

      That isn't cantering. Cantering is a 3 beat gait meaning there is one foot on the ground at all times. Galloping is a 4 beat gait meaning that all feet are off the ground at one time. Dom and Jimmy aren't full out galloping like what you see say in horse racing or barrel racing and pole bending etc, this is a controlled hand gallop :)

    • @sarahbarham8592
      @sarahbarham8592 Před 10 lety +5

      That used to happen to me too! I found that it was usually because I wasn't setting my horse up properly to canter. Now I have a list of things I do before I ask my horse to canter: first I shorten the reins up a lot, then I wake my horse up by speeding up and slowing down at the walk (or sitting trot--I never canter from a posting trot) a couple times, then I do a small half-halt and at the exact moment of the release I slide my leg back and squeeze. This always works, because it lets the horse know that I want him to canter, rather than just go at a faster trot.

      @@sarahbarham8592this is exactly what I was going to say, keep slowing him down but not stop moving. They only want to please. Slowing them down tells them they arnt doing what you’re asking for. So when you ask them to go again, they’ll say “okay!!”

    Can everyone shut up about them not knowing the differencw between a gallop and a canter? When I lived in Holland and had lessons and my own horse, there was no canter. a canter was considered a gallop and gallop was running gallop or something. Who knows they live in a country where they don't have canter either. I'm sure they know ehat they are doing.
