Hi Rakesh, my dad used to work at Arakkonam Railways as Superintendent. Did inquired him about this vadai. Used to sold at VRR canteen the caterers for all long haul trains which had a enroute via Arakkonam. Glad to hear about this. Thanks for sharing this recipe much appreciated.

I remember the younger days when we travelled from Mysore to Bangalore there was a stop at maddur and their a daily called maddur vadai was sooo yummy

My father was working in Railways as station superintend in Bangalore & Mysore section there is station called Maddur. You get Madur vadai... It's excellent today also we when we travel to Mysore not only we eat we used to brought for our family members. Such a yummy Vada i never tested anywhere.

In our home too both the traditions are followed and we say ' Krishnaarpanam' too before tasting anything.

I am lived at arakonam my native is AJJ So happy about our place vadai.
In Raigargh(Chattisgargh) i tasted a snack like our Kunukku. It was very yummy and crispy.
Manapparai Murukku, Lonavla chikki, Karjat batata vada. Whenever we used to cross these stations we would compulsorily buy these. In the same way we would look forward to the cutlets in Vaigai Express.

Vada pav is excellent at Dhond station. Crisp non greasy vada and fresh and soft pav at 7.30 in the morning for breakfast with hot chai , I am yet to to eat any where else. Also masala cutlet at karjat station near mumbai. Maddur vada at Mandya station near Mysore. Nowadays because of Air travel we are missing out on all these small pleasures of life. Also hot Tomato soup at 7’o clock in the evening before dinner is some thing to look forward to in Hyderabad - mumbai or Hyd- chennai night train.
