- Instead of one long review video, I thought I would start a new series of Quick Takes of my thoughts on different aspects of my 2008 Porsche Cayman.
This first Quick Take I discuss my thoughts on the Cayman's manual transmission, seeing how this is my first manual car in about 7 years since switching to VW's awesome double clutch gearbox in my last two VW GTI's.

Last year, I drove it until late December and then I parked it in the garage for the winter/salt months. Once it snows, it's in the garage until spring. I'm in NH, little north of you.
What I do is have the oil changed, to get any moisture out of it. I put it in the garage. Then I put a trickle charger on it. I have the CTEK-3300 and I bought an extension cord and cig adapter attachment (60-70 on amazon). I string those together, plug it in the wall, and plug that into the lighter. The lighter is a direct connect to the battery and will charge even if the car is off. I also have a dehumidifier (smallest one) with a hose going outside that I put in the garage. That keeps the humidity at like 40-45 and then if the temp drops below 40 I shut it off.... My plan is to keep the salt off of it and preserve the body for as long as possible.
I have also been converted by the dual clutch. For your next manual consider an auto rev matched manual, pretty slick shifting downshifts.
Chris On Cars I just watched 50 years of 911 by everyday driver. A Pdk Cayman, boxster or 997 generation 911 could be the way to go. Ps, it was the dsg in my mk7 golf r that made me fall in love with dual clutch.
You talked more about the dual clutch in your VW and other cars without really diving into your 6spd manual in the cayman. Weird video
Monotonous come on get on with please. What s all this waffle.
