    A short video showing train movements on the C&DR, the movement book which guides them and the way the goods rolling stock tags are used to determine the movement of individual wagons. The movement book is a flip-over book which is a copy of the movement table compiled from the time/distance diagram. The goods stock tags are tiny steel washers painted in colour codes determining the destination station, with white dots determining the siding the wagon goes to. Some stock is always treated as express goods and has to be tacked on to the first available train. More information on operation can be found here: www.009dutch.nl...
    Model scale: 009 (1:76, 9mm gauge). Craigcorrie & Dunalistair Railway.

    Finally an 009 layout that does not only look spectacular, but also with good running engines and well layed track. Thank you Ted, it was a pleasure to watch the video

    Remember reading about this as railway of the month in Rly Modeller,years ago.Nice to have an extensive, narrow gauge railway which operates like 'the big railway '!

    Scenery: fantastic. Operations: excellent. Steam engines run beautifully and efficiently. Very well done.

    Thanks very much - the tender loco was built using a Chivers Hudswell Clarke kit (the Queensland sugar cane loco). The chassis is eight-coupled rather than six-coupled. It is a tender driven Fleischmann N gauge loco.

    Thanks, John - sorry I only read this after a week. To answer your question, the passenger arrives from Dunalistair, then waits in the up platform for the branch mixed to come in. This proceeds on to the main line, then backs into the down platform. Passengers can transfer using the footbridge at the far end. The access from the road to the station is by a narrow passage between the goods shed and the station building. In some cases a branch train will wait behind the station building.

    Just discovered your channel. Your layout is absolutely gorgeous! I don't think I've ever seen a layout that more completely transported me to another time and place. Brilliant!

    Hi Ted,
    What scale is this?
    If you can add sounds to your locos, it'll add another dimension of pleasure.
    Beautiful work you've done.

      Thanks - the scale is 1:76 and the track gauge 9mm. This scales out at 2 ft 3 ins (675mm) narrow gauge.
      Since the trains run on analog control and they are very small, adding sound is impossible without rebuilding them all. Instead I make videos, which I add synchronised sound to.
      I hope that answers your questions.
      Ted

    Excellent video Ted. I assume that the passenger train waits for the mixed at Rae Bridge so that passengers can transfer. Is there access for passengers from the goods yard (or wherever the mixed arrives) to the passenger platform?

    The coach at centre screen at 09:39. I've seen a couple low sitting carriages like this but have no idea where to find a kit or what's it's basis is. Can anyone tell me?

    • @tedpolet5431
      @tedpolet5431  Před 6 lety

      There is no kit for this coach. It is an overscale model of a Ffestiniog Railway 'bug box' - in 4mm scale these are much smaller than my model, which is closer to 5.5mm scale. In 4mm scale (009) there are kits available from Dundas Models, kit number BB06.

    Really great - How do you control your points?

    • @tedpolet5431
      @tedpolet5431  Před 8 lety

      +Nick Troth
      Thanks, Nick - point and signal control is a mix of mechanical control (wire in tube and mechanical lever frames) and electrical, using a capacitor discharge unit. You will find more information on the C&DR website - search for Craigcorrie on the web.
