- The Island's Swansong is one of the biggest anomalies in the Thomas Fandom. It is the most popular, well written story on Wattpad that I've seen...yet I haven't heard ANYONE talk about this story, much less make a video on it.

I have Read this story before. It is a sad but a beautiful story. Spoiler Alert, it is a mix of CGI, TVS, and RWS. A great story especially for a mature Thomas Fan. Sometimes I wish that Sodor can reopen again. Or the Author will make a sequel. But it is cool none the less.
Those first few bits of the story alone make me want to check this story out. It sounds so meticulously crafted and heavy in emotion. I'll give it a read when I can.
Just be prepared to have your heart ripped out of your chest. The vibes from this story were giving me that 'yeah, this is gonna hurt' feeling.

"High Speed 2 (HS2) is a planned high-speed railway line in the United Kingdom, with the first phase under construction. When completed, the new track will stretch from its most southerly point in London to its most northerly point at Manchester, via Coleshill east of Birmingham. A branch at Coleshill takes HS2 north east to the East Midlands. HS2 will be the country's second purpose-built high-speed line, the first being High Speed 1, the connection from London to the Channel Tunnel.
At its southern end the line terminates at London's Euston station while other termini are in the Midlands at Birmingham and the North West of England at Manchester. PLEASE, make this story it's own dedicated video. I just finished reading it and it ABSOLUTELY deserves its own video with explanations to some things. This is such a fantastic story that everyone should know about.
I just finished the story. It's 6am and no I haven't slept because I absolutely binged the entire story. It's... Incredible. It feels like closure we never got. I cried, I laughed, I cried some more, and it feels like this story is going to stick with me for years. I haven't tried watching the series again yet - but I feel like when I do, it's going to feel even more melancholic than it does now, knowing (in my mind, with this story part of what I now consider its closure) how it ends. I absolutely recommend the story. It's incredibly in-depth, the author's knowledge of the Sodor railway, and the functions of railways in general, is immense. It takes liberties in places, but so does the canon at times. Absolutely amazing. Thank you for piquing my curiosity with this fanfic. I 100% agree that it is one of, if not the, best fanfic going for the fandom, and for anyone seeking some sort of closure to the series we'll never get from Mattel. Five stars, would sob my way to a migraine again.

I went and read the whole thing, and it's one of the best and most sorrowful stories I've ever read. A long series of emotional gut punches, that are somehow all worth it.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for covering this story! This has to be the best ttte fanfic I have ever read. It's incredibly well written, the pacing is great, and the descriptions, my goodness the descriptions. They're highly detailed but not to the point where it's overwhelming. I have to commend the direction the author took the story, particularly the way it's told. There's no name or description of the narrator given, allowing the reader to quite literally walk in the narrator's shoes, essentially making you the urban explorer and uncovering the mystery of the downfall of the NWR. It makes every encounter personal, and it's this that makes the story emotionally gut wrenching. This show is what we all grew up with, and to see the island and its engines reduced to this, is . . . devastating. The Island's Swansong will definitely hit you in the feels, especially towards the end. Highly recommend to every Thomas fan.
I’m so glad somebody finally gave this story a much deserved spotlight!! I wish someone would adapt this into a movie.

So glad to see this phenomenal fan story (even a novel almost) get some much deserved love! Last year I hadn’t read a book or anything for years but when I found this I got so hooked and fell in love! It’s one of the best. More fans should try to make such ambitious, large scale stories like this but I won’t complain, I love the content this fandom makes. But this is definitely one of the best for sure

Please, please, please do some kind of additional video on this, anything really. I read the whole thing in one sitting after watching this and it was amazing. It had me crying by the end. The author deserves huge props.
I have read this from your last video and was immediately gripped by the setting,reasoning and dialogue.However I was a bit disappointed by the ending as we never get closure on what happened to the Last Hatt and I get it is supposed to be bittersweet but felt it was missing something .
Edit:Also was confused why the Main seven were left on the island despite being very famous/valuable as attractions .Especially Gordon who would be as famous as Flying Scotsman.But plot needed to happen .

HS2 is the 2nd high speed line in the UK. HS1 is the line to the Channel Tunnel (The line to mainland France). HS2 is currently being built, and is becoming a bit of a moneypit, with controversy surrounding it and its budget, with many saying it'll probably never be finished.
I am aware of it, also thanks to good ol British humour, HS2 is getting ridiculed in the UK and we all know how great British Humour is

Anne Topham Hatt mentions in the fic that the decline of Sodor started "a hundred years ago." She basically explained that a global conflict basically ruined Sodor's demographics because many youths of the population were drafted to serve in the British Military; with many not returning and only a few coming back; which had horrible consequences in the years that followed. It was only hidden because of the success of the NWR in the 1950's to the early 2000s. Which conflict would celebrate the centennial of its end in 2045? It's WW2.
Basically by the time Rev.W Awdry first published the RWS, the first nail into the coffin for Sodor was nailed in. And it was war.

In Chapter 25, Anne Topham Hatt mentions that the decline of Sodor started "a hundred years ago". She mentioned that "the Second Great War" hit Sodor's population demographics hard. Many young Sudrians were enlisted to fight for Blighty's survival and to ensure the defeat of the Axis Powers. Many died and only a few came back. It also didn't help that a baby boom came late and wasn't as much help either. It was only hidden thanks to the NWR's success in the 1950s to the 2000s. Which war then is celebrating the centenary of its end by then (in 2045)? As mentioned above, it's the Second World War.
Basically, by the time Rev.W Awdry started publishing the RWS, the first nail to the coffin for the NWR was already nailed in; and that was war.
I started reading this and it's amazing but my dislexia stops me from being able to read it and make sense but I still love it it's a master piece

Ya there’s a lot of Ttte AUs because of Fallout (mostly Sodor Fallout AU’S with “what if this didn’t happen to a character” and such) and I can understand a few people have found it annoying, I know some people have complained about the Ttte AU’S but we also have other stuff that was before SF, and if the story is well made, like this one, who really cares?
At least there’s no Five Nights At Freddy’s crossover…yet…I almost made that a reality 😂

This story’s descriptions remind me of Heimchen’s “He’s My Brother.” The story follows a recovered scrap engine who’s distrustful of humanity after WWII. I would love to see a video on it, your readings and commentary are great!

I just finished it recently. I can’t look at the Epilogue chapter anymore.
This is not a complaint about the fanfiction but just about this questionable bit of lore. Originally the engines were meant to only have faces when they’re on Sodor and anywhere else they would be normal trains, however even if you overlook stories like the fat controllers engines, and rewrite the story so that their faces disappear when they go to the mainland, how could book stories like escape work in that context?
Douglasses driver saw a steam locomotive that was about to be scrapped along with a break van He knew what he had to do he coupled up to it and brought it to Sodor The second they crossed the bridge Douglas Oliver and toad came to life

HS2 is a high speed rail project in the UK, it is infamous as it has gone on for years and horribly over budget. I hope that explains what it is.
25:27 A "wye"(pronounced just like the letter y) is a piece of railroad track shaped like the namesake(sound-sake?) letter, with a straight section running between the ends of the two curves. I'll post a link to some examples if I can, and if not, you can google "railroad wye" to find plenty of examples. The main purpose of wyes is not just to act as a junction, but also to allow locomotives too big for turntables, as well as even entire trains, the ability to turn around at the end of a line. They're honestly pretty neat!(also, I'm gonna try linking the images in a reply, as CZcams tends to be tempermental with me when it comes to comments containing links)

As someone whose read the whole story, I got to say… there’s nothing quite like it.
High Speed 2 (HS2): a main line between London and Birmingham, its taken several years and to be honest it’s money that could have gone into reastabliting old branch lines.

Another idea for a story to analyze would be Dirty Deeds but ElsbridgeBlitz. It is not complete, however, it is a very long story so far with only more to come. It started out with just a simple and more detailed account of Duck Takes Charge, Pop Goes the Diesel, and Dirty Work, however, it evolves into much more. A story of engines and even people dying or going missing to mysterious cause. There is some reason to believe that these events are not connected and that they are not deliberate. There is some reason though, to believe the exact opposite. I am not one to say if it is really good or if it is terrible because you have expertise in the area of writing, but I want to know what you think.

Thanks for the feedback! I don't HATE doing live streams, they're just not my favorite thing. The main reason for that is that I'm not a GREAT speaker. I can deliver a line, but I'm hella specific on how I do it. Like, if it's not PERFECT...start again.
I have been trying to get better at adlib and whatnot, so I might try the live format again at some point. What do you think would be a good middle ground?

@@ScrapyardStudios Oooooooooooooh...yeah, gotcha! There's actually a funny story about that. When I was making assets for the podcast, I realized 'hey...I don't wanna draw a STATION for the logo...I need something simple, and visually clear.'
So...I chose a silhouette of an express engine! And then I thought...'wait, now the name doesn't make sense'...so I changed that too!
