SUPER disappointed in Disney ever since beauty and the beast i've been against the remaking of live action movies since its clear Disney doesn't care to give theses films the love and respect they deserve falling on cheap tactics just so they can keep there copyrights and D3 just proves it seeing as where getting nothing but squeals and more live actions and its just like WHY there not really making much money off them just make new movies yeah some will flop but some won't thats kinda the whole point of story telling
Speaking of the prince, I understand that originally he would discover the queen's plan to kill Snow White and that is why he knew he had to wake her up with a kiss. I really don't know if they would take this idea into account for the live action.
Unfortunettly if you look at the box office the live action movies still make enough money for the to want to make more. I think that they are making less then before (Lion King 2019 and the new Little mermaid had EXTREMELY different outcomes), but sadly still enough to keep going. So finantialy it looks like it still plays off. (At least to my knowlage) Untill We all stop going to cinemas and more importantly stop buying the merch nothing will change. And since most parents dont give an f about the quality of the stories, Theres nothing We can do (because lets be honest most money comes from the families with kids)
I just hate Snow White's dress from the remake! The fabric looks very cheap, especially the skirt, the colors are too bright, they also do not match the skin color of the actress, and in general the dress looks like a cheap children's Halloween costume for ten bucks, and not like clothes from a multimillion-dollar movie! Your redesign is wonderful, I would like to see such a dress in the film.
For real and what sucks is the fabrics they did pick aren't cheap I bet if the colors where less saturated it wouldnt look so cheap like yeah the colors work great for the dolls and merchandise but in the actual movie no I mean even the snow white actors at the parks dress is less saturated
I totally agree...I seen regular people's Halloween and Cos-play styles of SnowWhite who looks way more professional than Zegler's version who had such big company management behind ..How disappointing
And to think Sandy Powell did the costume designing lol. She also did the designs for Cinderella (2015) which I thought were amazing. The whole color palette for that film was great
The dwarf situation I feel like is such an easy fix. Have little people play the characters, but lean into and take pieces of dwarf lore, and give them ACTUAL character development. Show how they interact before Snow White, show them teaching her things, show them learning a few things from her. Like teaching her dwarven recipes, or making her some jewelry as a thank you since the queen wouldn’t let her have anything nice. Show caring relationships!
EXACTLY yes I'd love that like I love the chemistry the OG movie has but it's all subtle which us great but I'd still love a bit more actually development and friendship
@@LovesArt23 here's a way they could do that.... we've got what's essentially 7 little boys without a mom and dad before Snow White and Jonathan show up right? Why not play into that angle a bit. Have the Dwarfs be a bit bratty and then once they get parents have them start making things for her after she teaches them some manners. I do appreciate that they are using some of the original ideas for Jonathan though...he was supposed to be Robin Hood-like except closer to Green Arrow where he would be the one in charge, but animation difficulties. Then for Jonathan's search just have him encounter Dopey who gives directions in the goofiest way after animal translation fails. Also...all that blue on your revamp looked very signature Disney Protagonist outfit. I mean...every Disney Protagonist except for Mickey has worn blue as their default color at some point...though it's mostly associated with Cinderella, Belle and Aurora (give or take the meddling with Aurora's dress)...maybe Minnie doesn't allow Mickey to wear her color?
I was thinking: 7 gay men with dwarfism who build a found family deep in the woods who rejected society as they rejected them, until here comes a young, friendly, caring girl (officially she is 14!) and shows them compassion
Mirror mirror is an amazing live action version of snow white. First there's little people who act in the movie, the costume designs are amazing, we still get an independent snow white while keeping the romance, and the comedy is funny, and finally the story is different but in a good flavorful way.
I’m so sick of the “corsets bad” narrative. I have some corsets for costumes and they are so comfortable more comfortable than some of my bras. The reason some actors were complaining about them if I recall correctly is because they were reused corsets so they didn’t fit the actors to save on money (something conveniently left out of the corset debate) which come on Hollywood if my broke ass can afford comfortable corsets you can too and instead of just getting corsets to fit their actors they got rid of them pretending it was for “empowerment” reasons instead of them cheeping out in the costume department. But anyway I love this Snow White dress you designed it’s beautiful and although different still holds enough elements of the original to be recognizable. The one benefit of turning something live action from animated in my opinion is seeing the differences in the designs nobody expected a 1 to 1 recreation of animated snow white’s dress but for some reason they pretty much did (or at least the Halloween store version) which was weird especially after Cinderella as that dress looks nothing like the animated one but it was so beautiful that everyone still loved it I guess it’s another example of Disney going on the cheep probably thought they could pull the “it’s accurate to the original so there’s no reason to complain about it”.
All of this! But also-this time period…wouldn’t even be using corsets??? I’m fairly sure she should be wearing stays (the precursor to corsets). So their argument would be flawed for bringing corsets up at all. I can’t speak to the comfort of stays but I would imagine them to be on the same comfort level as corsets (comfortable when it fits properly). I would love it if some of these actors, instead of just bashing corsets, do any amount of research and push for better fitting ones instead. Especially with these big budget movies.
The biggest problem I have with Snow White's dress is how cheap it feels. I think the reason why it does is the fabric they chose, it feels like one of those cheap princess costumes you would get in a Halloween costume shop

Snow White looks very colorful and beautiful, befitting a fair and gentle character, something Rachel absolutely can't portay while Disney rejects the kind character that Snow White is.

Her attitude is not helping either and the fact they put auto tune on it every time they remake a musical just annoys me. This is why I like the Schmigadoon tv show because the actors care and clearly love playing their characters and they can show off all their theatrical talents. And no auto tune.

Why the heck do the producer needs to put auto tune on them?! And if they are putting autotune on an actor who can’t sing they should have picked another actor who can sing I also noticed when they remake a musicals, they don’t know how musicals work with 2019 Cats being a huge example of what not to do when remaking one or with Annie (2014) taking mean jabs at the original and hiring the wrong producers when remaking Annie, to be fair Jay Z did reference to the original Annie in his songs but why get him when remaking it and I noticed when remaking they tried to pull The Wiz by naming Jamie Fox’s character to another name by calling him Will Stacks with one problem The Wiz was actually creative with music and places and the characters. I’m not a theatre buff or a theatre kid but my goddess if they want to make a musical, they need to make an original one instead remaking things. Once upon a time did a great job with their Snow White, they kept the love and everything that originally was in the movie but also added to both characters making them more than just lovers.
I think the reason they haven’t been given the dresses corsets is because the actor for 2015 Cinderella, Lily James, said in interviews that the corsets she wore was really uncomfortable and was hard to work in. But I’m like 95% sure they could’ve given Rachel a corset that was comfortable and easy to move in. This is just me speculating, nothing is confirmed. Disney is no longer a creative company owned by artists wanting to tell stories, it’s a corporation owned by people looking to make money. then they should've called in someone who actually corsets (not even the right garment for the vague time period mind you) to figure out the issue (too big? too small? wrong shape for her figure? too tight? (that was only a high fashion trend ffs) did they forget the slip that goes under it? (i'd place money on that one, also ouch) or did they just cheap out and pick something that doesn't deserve to be called a corset? the world will never know until the costume department gets raided)
I thought Lily kinda praised them but that she was tight-laced in the ballgown which was more extreme? I remember Halle Bailey saying she actually loves wearin corsets and things like that which surprised Jonah.
Snow White wanted love and happiness in the wake of living under an abusive stepmother who stole her kingdom and probably killed her father. I never understood why people complain about that like it's an awful thing to want. And then when that's not there, fans decide to complain about the love interest being absent. People are so fickle. I love Snow White. She worked hard, didn't expect free hand outs, and was a kind person with a gentle heart. I don't love this movie, though.
This reminds me of the historically accurate Disney princess dresses series Claire Hummel did years ago. Snow White had been one of my favorites and this is just as gorgeous!

The Cinderella remakes took advantage of the fact that it was live action. It was able to cram so much detail and intricacy in everything, from the house, the carriage, the castle, and the costumes. This one just looks like it's a literal translation of a drawing, which ofcourse will look simple and flat in a live action context.
It's honestly so ridiculous to me how in a story with little people Disney didn't cast... Little people. But instead these CGI nightmares. Like make it make sense???? The only reason I'd watch🏴☠️ this movie is for Rachel
Seeing Disney's sequel for Enchanted (Disenchanted) as an example; they gave Prince Edward and Nancy outfits that made me very disappointed of how party city cheap they looked, what happened to the unique details they gave the outfits which gave them beautiful quality and life to them, in the first movie Edward's prince outfit was high quality and made very well same goes for the outfits Giselle wears even the ball outfits; and seeing how they made a huge mistake on the sequel's outfits on Disenchanted makes me believe that Disney is going to continue making these mistakes over and over again and look what they are doing for the Snow White's outfit remake I'm glad you did justice to the Snow White remake's outfit cause your outfit redesign is incredible Brittany 💙
I never really like the colour palette of the dress. But somehow here it feels right ? Like I'm looking at her and my brain is like "yup yup makes sense to me". Maybe it's because the yellow is gold so it fits more to the version in my head ?

As someone who constantly draws historical fashion (although mainly 18th century), I'm going crazy about this video! Your design is such a good blend of being accurate and fairytale like aesthetics! If the live action version looked like it, I would maybe even consider seeing the movie! And I have to agree about the live action dresses, especially how not wearing corsets makes them look off (stop with the corset slander, Hollywood!). It's crazy to me that the richest entertainment company in the world has such ugly dresses in their movies.

I think peter dinklage said in his original statement that he wanted dwarves in the film. It's just that he thought that the depiction of them being miners and living in a forest and being cartoony side-characters was derivative of everything real dwarves have been trying to disassemble for years.
I used to love watching Snow White on my vhs when I was little. This is just sad. Wonderful redesign as always! I love it so much❤ Snow White is one of my favorite princesses and the fact that they’re doing their first movie so much disservice is so disappointing. Her dress looks so weird in the trailer. I need to give an small rant for a second, because this movie is prove for me that Disney plays favorites (and their names are Cinderella, Aurora and Cruella). What is it with them doing their princessess dirty with those dresses? First they give Live action!Ariel an extremely limited set of outfits and the one dress they give her, while cute, doesn't really look good on Halle. Now, they maneged to make Snow White's dress even worse than the original. Don't get me wrong, Animation!Snow Whites desing is adorable, but the strongest part of it is the way her face was drawn (she is so cute). I always found her dress to be the ugliest one of all the Disney Princessess. They had the oportunity to redesing it and make something really pretty, because the color scheme was good, but noooo they completely copied the original dress but made it look like a cheap shein costume. I wonder if they really peaked with Cinderella's blue dress and now they don't even bother to try to top it. Auroras dresses in maleficent are beautiful, Jazmines were ok, Belles looked like a prom dress (not in a good way), we don't talk about live action Mulan, Ariel didn't even have a princess dress and now this... Disney needs to find new people to desing their live action princessess dresses because whoever is in charge now is not doing them justice. Anyways, i love your redesing for Snow! She looks adorable, i hope you'll do a similar video for other live action princessess, specialy Ariel. I really enjoy hearing you talk about history acurate fashion.
I never thought I would find a dress I would hate as much as I do towards the live action Belle dress until the snow white live action came, they both look so cheap and the fact that I oddly really like the aesthetic of a corset along with the fact both dresses are weirdly neon, anyways this redesign is amazing and I'm curious on what future designs/redesigns you might make.

Why has Disney DEvolved when it comes to Snow White? In Once Upon a Time, she was a badass archer after having to live in the woods for years. She forged an army to overthrow the evil queen and claim her rightful place on the throne. She wore pelts and pants and boots, but her wedding dress is one of the most beautiful detailed gowns I've ever seen. She and Prince David have palpable chemistry and a years-long friendship before she bites that apple. The sum of their relationship is that Snow White goes town to town saving everyone from the evil queen's horrible reign, but who will there to save her when she needs it? David is. Disney thinks it's playing it "safe" with Snow White by not straying far from the source material like OUAT, but that's going to come back to bite them when the 1937 film has the serious plot hole of how Florian and Snow know each other, the lacking context making the kiss controversial in the first place. But instead of giving their relationship more focus, I'm worried that they're going to keep him as bland as unsalted pasta, which is such a waste.
My thing was the prince not even a stalker. They met at the well didnt they? Rachel is speaking about the classic movie thru cynical context of modern society which doesn’t mesh well with the Magic aspect of the story. I already loved the new dress so as I saw you cleaning it up, I can imagine the realistic version and how satisfyingly elegant and colorful it would be compared to the reboot. 13:14 I LOVE THAT IDEA! I recently watched Coraline (2008) in theaters for the 15th Anniversary, and yeah horror for kids is really cool. Snow White has some pretty scary/heavy moments like the running through the woods scene, the Evil Queen sending someone to kill her, and even the Evil Queen’s transformation into an old woman. Like there are so many moments to enhance those scenes where the animation studio at the time couldn’t. But instead we get ‘Snow White and the 7 Reasons we didn’t want to make this movie’ lol Love the dress btw, I love the royal blue more than the pastel yellow and old embellishments are so pretty. I would’ve loved to see this dress 💙💙💙
I think I gave up on Disney life action as soon as I watched Lion King CGI in theaters with my family. I think I literally complained throughout the film or after to my family who were trying to say “it was good”. At the time I had giving up on my animation dreams to do another career, but the knowledge of loving is so much had stuck with me that I wanted to slap all of them. I hated how dull it was, that they used Beyoncé to pull in the numbers (don’t blame her, get that bank), but it really proved to me why “normal” consumers didn’t appreciate animation and I gave up on most of the Disney live action stuff altogether. I would love to see this design animated it look so pretty! Snow White has been retold, reanimated, live action, and more for years so I would gladly watch another animated with this design in mind! Wonderful work on this, you always do such amazing research to make these pieces even better.
The dress is so obviously a costume and I hate it! Snow White was never my favorite but they could have at least made the dress look like something someone could actually wear and be comfortable! That dress doesn’t look comfortable at all! I do like that they went for a bit more time accurate look though but it was just executed poorly. Also I’m getting tired of changing the race of already established characters for diversity points. Like just make something original and give it diverse cast of characters or something! Or make a live action princess and the frog!! I would LOVE THAT! It’s one of my favorite movies of all time and I’m honestly really curious to see who they would cast to play Dr. Facilier since Keith Devid’s voice is so distinct.

1:25 Snow White has basically been like a mold of what Disney princesses would be like in the future, and being Walt's first film it was obvious that it would be something simple in terms of personality and objectives. Although it doesn't take away the fact that he has some depth to his character (depth which Disney will never use for live action🤦♀️). I feel that Nieves did not want romance as such but rather someone who really loved her, considering that she was young and her father or mother is not mentioned, it can be assumed that she has spent a good part of her childhood with her stepmother the queen, who is She despised her, the prince was one of the few people who really loved her despite everything, the animals were her only friends from the beginning of the film who gave her help every time the princess needed it. And finally the dwarves, which she considered her new family when she saw their concern for her (especially Grumpy). And finally, her dream of living with the prince was much more than a simple wish, since what she wanted most in the world was to receive love, something not from the queen but from the prince, and she only thought about what One day he would be free from the queen's cruelty and he would finally be able to be with the person he loved most together forever. Basically a 14 year old girl who just wanted a better life.

Honestly watching it again, I think the ending where the prince kissed her was a little fast paced considering most of the REST of the movies pacing is a bit more balanced. The exposition cards do their job, but the Prince kinda comes in to revive her a bit faster then the rest of the movie feels. It’s still glorious, it’s just that we had a LOT of buildup with the scary (the queen giving the apple) the action (the dwarves chasing the queen) and then we get the sad (SW in the coffin) and happy (the prince reviving her) on top of eachother in a shorter time then just one of the previous emotions, even WITH the exposition cards.

Cosplayers have made better Disney Princess dresses than Snow White’s. Ignoring the Rachel Ziegler and Peter Dinkledge stuff, would be nice if Disney actually used their billions upon billions of dollars to make a great dress and make the CGI of the Dwarfs look good, but nah, we’re just given cheap Party City looking Princess costume. Snow White's dress is really pretty and also I didn't know that Disney is doing a live action snow White movie like why are they still doing live action movies of classic movies and geez snow White's dress in the screenshot on the trailer looks terrible especially the bright unnecessary neon yellow. The thing with this movie that peeves me off is the fact everyone got pissed that the actor wasn't white despite being called show white but like, her name doesn't have to be tied to her skin tone? The name could have been because of say, her hair, her eyes, her clothes. Hell I would love it if her name was used to describe her soft as snow personality. Even then the actor isn't even that dark skin toned, and even if the actor was, who cares about skin tone? It just keeps annoying me that people get way too angry about an actor's skin tone and basically let Disney and other companies use minorities as marketing stunts rather than actually wanting to include more diversity. I'm not trying to erase the Actor's ethnicity in this comment, I'm also of the believe that there should more diversity in media. I just get peeved when that diversity is used to market and to wipe away flaws in media rather to actually represent.
Also her skintone literally matched the original movie, in some scenes she’s darker than her by a little but in other scenes Snow White is darker than her. Like this was genuinely a good pick it watches a close as possible.
It went from being disappointed by a casting to just getting mad because they heard a minority woman was playing the role. The way people were fighting to find something wrong about the actress at every chance, even going as far as to call her 'Snow Brown' and bring up the fact Snow White is a "German story", even though Rachel is part German and is a white Latina woman says a lot. These were the same people who were saying "oh mermaids can't be black" when it came to Halle, actually believing the story that Jada Smith was going to play Rapunzel and sending boatloads of hate to Avantika for a fancast in a tangled movie that wasn't even announced. It's dumb as hell getting mad at minorities for the tokenism and get rich quick schemes of big companies. Most of the time it's not even minorities themselves making these decisions but white executives 🤦♀️

I was raised around Disney as a kid and honestly it all went downhill in current years, it's really disappointing whenever Disney doesn't do their homework like this it's really disappointing when learn what went into the original snow-white like the designing and animation etc. but that dress oh god that dress in the trailer it's so bad! There's this book I've read that is a Snow White retelling. It is not for everyone but if you want a more "stronger" Snow White who is still feminine I recommend it. It's called Shattered and it is more inspired by the original Snow White story.

They are using some notes intended for The Prince actually. The discussion of him being a Robin Hood type was actually the original plan, except he would be closer to Green Arrow where he actually ran the place. They're also using Jonathan as the name so...that's an improvement.

Unfortunettly if you look at the box office the live action movies still make enough money for the to want to make more. I think that they are making less then before (Lion King 2019 and the new Little mermaid had EXTREMELY different outcomes), but sadly still enough to keep going.
So finantialy it looks like it still plays off. (At least to my knowlage)

I just hate Snow White's dress from the remake! The fabric looks very cheap, especially the skirt, the colors are too bright, they also do not match the skin color of the actress, and in general the dress looks like a cheap children's Halloween costume for ten bucks, and not like clothes from a multimillion-dollar movie! Your redesign is wonderful, I would like to see such a dress in the film.
For real and what sucks is the fabrics they did pick aren't cheap I bet if the colors where less saturated it wouldnt look so cheap like yeah the colors work great for the dolls and merchandise but in the actual movie no I mean even the snow white actors at the parks dress is less saturated

The dwarf situation I feel like is such an easy fix. Have little people play the characters, but lean into and take pieces of dwarf lore, and give them ACTUAL character development. Show how they interact before Snow White, show them teaching her things, show them learning a few things from her. Like teaching her dwarven recipes, or making her some jewelry as a thank you since the queen wouldn’t let her have anything nice. Show caring relationships!

Have the Dwarfs be a bit bratty and then once they get parents have them start making things for her after she teaches them some manners.
I do appreciate that they are using some of the original ideas for Jonathan though...he was supposed to be Robin Hood-like except closer to Green Arrow where he would be the one in charge, but animation difficulties. Then for Jonathan's search just have him encounter Dopey who gives directions in the goofiest way after animal translation fails.
Also...all that blue on your revamp looked very signature Disney Protagonist outfit. I mean...every Disney Protagonist except for Mickey has worn blue as their default color at some point...though it's mostly associated with Cinderella, Belle and Aurora (give or take the meddling with Aurora's dress)...maybe Minnie doesn't allow Mickey to wear her color?

Mirror mirror is an amazing live action version of snow white. First there's little people who act in the movie, the costume designs are amazing, we still get an independent snow white while keeping the romance, and the comedy is funny, and finally the story is different but in a good flavorful way.

It’s one of my favourite movie. The style is vibrant and everything balance well.
I’m so sick of the “corsets bad” narrative. I have some corsets for costumes and they are so comfortable more comfortable than some of my bras. The reason some actors were complaining about them if I recall correctly is because they were reused corsets so they didn’t fit the actors to save on money (something conveniently left out of the corset debate) which come on Hollywood if my broke ass can afford comfortable corsets you can too and instead of just getting corsets to fit their actors they got rid of them pretending it was for “empowerment” reasons instead of them cheeping out in the costume department. But anyway I love this Snow White dress you designed it’s beautiful and although different still holds enough elements of the original to be recognizable. The one benefit of turning something live action from animated in my opinion is seeing the differences in the designs nobody expected a 1 to 1 recreation of animated snow white’s dress but for some reason they pretty much did (or at least the Halloween store version) which was weird especially after Cinderella as that dress looks nothing like the animated one but it was so beautiful that everyone still loved it I guess it’s another example of Disney going on the cheep probably thought they could pull the “it’s accurate to the original so there’s no reason to complain about it”.
All of this! But also-this time period…wouldn’t even be using corsets??? I’m fairly sure she should be wearing stays (the precursor to corsets). So their argument would be flawed for bringing corsets up at all. I can’t speak to the comfort of stays but I would imagine them to be on the same comfort level as corsets (comfortable when it fits properly).
I would love it if some of these actors, instead of just bashing corsets, do any amount of research and push for better fitting ones instead. Especially with these big budget movies.
The biggest problem I have with Snow White's dress is how cheap it feels. I think the reason why it does is the fabric they chose, it feels like one of those cheap princess costumes you would get in a Halloween costume shop

I’m not even gonna lie- I’m excited for most of the new Disney movies coming out.
But this one, hell no.
I think the reason they haven’t been given the dresses corsets is because the actor for 2015 Cinderella, Lily James, said in interviews that the corsets she wore was really uncomfortable and was hard to work in. But I’m like 95% sure they could’ve given Rachel a corset that was comfortable and easy to move in. This is just me speculating, nothing is confirmed. Disney is no longer a creative company owned by artists wanting to tell stories, it’s a corporation owned by people looking to make money. Animation deserves respect

Snow White wanted love and happiness in the wake of living under an abusive stepmother who stole her kingdom and probably killed her father. I never understood why people complain about that like it's an awful thing to want. And then when that's not there, fans decide to complain about the love interest being absent. People are so fickle. I love Snow White. She worked hard, didn't expect free hand outs, and was a kind person with a gentle heart. I don't love this movie, though.

Literally the classic Disney films you watch as a kid are remakes of pre-existing films 💀
The Cinderella remakes took advantage of the fact that it was live action. It was able to cram so much detail and intricacy in everything, from the house, the carriage, the castle, and the costumes. This one just looks like it's a literal translation of a drawing, which ofcourse will look simple and flat in a live action context.
And with this a new section begins on the channel: *Redesigning Disney Princesses of the live action!* Let this begin.

Seeing Disney's sequel for Enchanted (Disenchanted) as an example; they gave Prince Edward and Nancy outfits that made me very disappointed of how party city cheap they looked, what happened to the unique details they gave the outfits which gave them beautiful quality and life to them, in the first movie Edward's prince outfit was high quality and made very well same goes for the outfits Giselle wears even the ball outfits; and seeing how they made a huge mistake on the sequel's outfits on Disenchanted makes me believe that Disney is going to continue making these mistakes over and over again and look what they are doing for the Snow White's outfit remake

As someone who constantly draws historical fashion (although mainly 18th century), I'm going crazy about this video! Your design is such a good blend of being accurate and fairytale like aesthetics! If the live action version looked like it, I would maybe even consider seeing the movie!

I think peter dinklage said in his original statement that he wanted dwarves in the film. It's just that he thought that the depiction of them being miners and living in a forest and being cartoony side-characters was derivative of everything real dwarves have been trying to disassemble for years.

It's such a shame that Disney does that to a movie that is one of most important ones in the history of animation. Just making it one the others bland remakes that are the same and do more harm than good
I need to give an small rant for a second, because this movie is prove for me that Disney plays favorites (and their names are Cinderella, Aurora and Cruella).
What is it with them doing their princessess dirty with those dresses? First they give Live action!Ariel an extremely limited set of outfits and the one dress they give her, while cute, doesn't really look good on Halle. Now, they maneged to make Snow White's dress even worse than the original.
Don't get me wrong, Animation!Snow Whites desing is adorable, but the strongest part of it is the way her face was drawn (she is so cute). I always found her dress to be the ugliest one of all the Disney Princessess.
They had the oportunity to redesing it and make something really pretty, because the color scheme was good, but noooo they completely copied the original dress but made it look like a cheap shein costume.
I wonder if they really peaked with Cinderella's blue dress and now they don't even bother to try to top it. Auroras dresses in maleficent are beautiful, Jazmines were ok, Belles looked like a prom dress (not in a good way), we don't talk about live action Mulan, Ariel didn't even have a princess dress and now this... Disney needs to find new people to desing their live action princessess dresses because whoever is in charge now is not doing them justice.

I never thought I would find a dress I would hate as much as I do towards the live action Belle dress until the snow white live action came, they both look so cheap and the fact that I oddly really like the aesthetic of a corset along with the fact both dresses are weirdly neon, anyways this redesign is amazing and I'm curious on what future designs/redesigns you might make.

Why has Disney DEvolved when it comes to Snow White? In Once Upon a Time, she was a badass archer after having to live in the woods for years. She forged an army to overthrow the evil queen and claim her rightful place on the throne. She wore pelts and pants and boots, but her wedding dress is one of the most beautiful detailed gowns I've ever seen. She and Prince David have palpable chemistry and a years-long friendship before she bites that apple. The sum of their relationship is that Snow White goes town to town saving everyone from the evil queen's horrible reign, but who will there to save her when she needs it? David is. Disney thinks it's playing it "safe" with Snow White by not straying far from the source material like OUAT, but that's going to come back to bite them when the 1937 film has the serious plot hole of how Florian and Snow know each other, the lacking context making the kiss controversial in the first place. But instead of giving their relationship more focus, I'm worried that they're going to keep him as bland as unsalted pasta, which is such a waste.
My thing was the prince not even a stalker. They met at the well didnt they? Rachel is speaking about the classic movie thru cynical context of modern society which doesn’t mesh well with the Magic aspect of the story. I already loved the new dress so as I saw you cleaning it up, I can imagine the realistic version and how satisfyingly elegant and colorful it would be compared to the reboot. 13:14 I LOVE THAT IDEA! I recently watched Coraline (2008) in theaters for the 15th Anniversary, and yeah horror for kids is really cool. Snow White has some pretty scary/heavy moments like the running through the woods scene, the Evil Queen sending someone to kill her, and even the Evil Queen’s transformation into an old woman. Like there are so many moments to enhance those scenes where the animation studio at the time couldn’t. But instead we get ‘Snow White and the 7 Reasons we didn’t want to make this movie’ lol

I think I gave up on Disney life action as soon as I watched Lion King CGI in theaters with my family. I think I literally complained throughout the film or after to my family who were trying to say “it was good”. At the time I had giving up on my animation dreams to do another career, but the knowledge of loving is so much had stuck with me that I wanted to slap all of them. I hated how dull it was, that they used Beyoncé to pull in the numbers (don’t blame her, get that bank), but it really proved to me why “normal” consumers didn’t appreciate animation and I gave up on most of the Disney live action stuff altogether.
I would love to see this design animated it look so pretty! Snow White has been retold, reanimated, live action, and more for years so I would gladly watch another animated with this design in mind! Wonderful work on this, you always do such amazing research to make these pieces even better.

The dress is so obviously a costume and I hate it! Snow White was never my favorite but they could have at least made the dress look like something someone could actually wear and be comfortable! That dress doesn’t look comfortable at all! I do like that they went for a bit more time accurate look though but it was just executed poorly. Also I’m getting tired of changing the race of already established characters for diversity points. Like just make something original and give it diverse cast of characters or something! Or make a live action princess and the frog!! I would LOVE THAT! It’s one of my favorite movies of all time and I’m honestly really curious to see who they would cast to play Dr. Facilier since Keith Devid’s voice is so distinct.
I both am and am not surprised that they’re still going ahead with this awful live action take on Snow White. I’m surprised cause I would’ve thought that massive backlash alone would’ve made them back out, but then again this is modern Disney they’re so desperate to make money (and lose it apparently) so of course they’re still going to go ahead with it.

1:25 Snow White has basically been like a mold of what Disney princesses would be like in the future, and being Walt's first film it was obvious that it would be something simple in terms of personality and objectives. Although it doesn't take away the fact that he has some depth to his character (depth which Disney will never use for live action🤦♀️). I feel that Nieves did not want romance as such but rather someone who really loved her, considering that she was young and her father or mother is not mentioned, it can be assumed that she has spent a good part of her childhood with her stepmother the queen, who is She despised her, the prince was one of the few people who really loved her despite everything, the animals were her only friends from the beginning of the film who gave her help every time the princess needed it. And finally the dwarves, which she considered her new family when she saw their concern for her (especially Grumpy). And finally, her dream of living with the prince was much more than a simple wish, since what she wanted most in the world was to receive love, something not from the queen but from the prince, and she only thought about what One day he would be free from the queen's cruelty and he would finally be able to be with the person he loved most together forever. Basically a 14 year old girl who just wanted a better life.

Honestly watching it again, I think the ending where the prince kissed her was a little fast paced considering most of the REST of the movies pacing is a bit more balanced. The exposition cards do their job, but the Prince kinda comes in to revive her a bit faster then the rest of the movie feels.
It’s still glorious, it’s just that we had a LOT of buildup with the scary (the queen giving the apple) the action (the dwarves chasing the queen) and then we get the sad (SW in the coffin) and happy (the prince reviving her) on top of eachother in a shorter time then just one of the previous emotions, even WITH the exposition cards.
Yeah its then one down side to the movie and learning all the history about how the movie was made I cant help but cut them some slack

My biggest problem with the live action dress is that it looks like something you could buy from the Disney store for $20 or something that a park character would wear I definitely think that they should’ve gone with a less cartoony dress like Cinderella and Aurora’s dress from the beginning of live action remakes
I hate how disney stopped making good animated movies to spend billions of dollars in hollow live action crap 😭 the only live action i can enjoy a little is Aladdin, mainly because of Jasmine's song, if the song was in the original i would have 0 motivation to watch the new one
The team actually plained to have more scenes devloping the prince but simply had no time/money-thats why im not againest the idea of a snow white remake since alot of elements in the og had to be scrapped , it just should have been animated not live action

Cosplayers have made better Disney Princess dresses than Snow White’s. Ignoring the Rachel Ziegler and Peter Dinkledge stuff, would be nice if Disney actually used their billions upon billions of dollars to make a great dress and make the CGI of the Dwarfs look good, but nah, we’re just given cheap Party City looking Princess costume. Actually, that is an insult to Party City, because they do try and get the costumes accurate, lol.

The thing with this movie that peeves me off is the fact everyone got pissed that the actor wasn't white despite being called show white but like, her name doesn't have to be tied to her skin tone? The name could have been because of say, her hair, her eyes, her clothes. Hell I would love it if her name was used to describe her soft as snow personality. Even then the actor isn't even that dark skin toned, and even if the actor was, who cares about skin tone? It just keeps annoying me that people get way too angry about an actor's skin tone and basically let Disney and other companies use minorities as marketing stunts rather than actually wanting to include more diversity.
I'm not trying to erase the Actor's ethnicity in this comment, I'm also of the believe that there should more diversity in media. I just get peeved when that diversity is used to market and to wipe away flaws in media rather to actually represent.
Also her skintone literally matched the original movie, in some scenes she’s darker than her by a little but in other scenes Snow White is darker than her. Like this was genuinely a good pick it watches a close as possible.
It went from being disappointed by a casting to just getting mad because they heard a minority woman was playing the role. The way people were fighting to find something wrong about the actress at every chance, even going as far as to call her 'Snow Brown' and bring up the fact Snow White is a "German story", even though Rachel is part German and is a white Latina woman says a lot. These were the same people who were saying "oh mermaids can't be black" when it came to Halle, actually believing the story that Jada Smith was going to play Rapunzel and sending boatloads of hate to Avantika for a fancast in a tangled movie that wasn't even announced. It's dumb as hell getting mad at minorities for the tokenism and get rich quick schemes of big companies. Most of the time it's not even minorities themselves making these decisions but white executives 🤦♀️

I was raised around Disney as a kid and honestly it all went downhill in current years, it's really disappointing whenever Disney doesn't do their homework like this it's really disappointing when learn what went into the original snow-white like the designing and animation etc. but that dress oh god that dress in the trailer it's so bad! I'm really glad you did redesign honestly; they really could make this live action work like they did for Cinderella Live Action movie its fashion and story, but this just shows Disney just wants money from their fans. but anyways i love your more historical version of your snowwhite dress redesign i like you kept the elements of the original film in

There's this book I've read that is a Snow White retelling. It is not for everyone but if you want a more "stronger" Snow White who is still feminine I recommend it. It's called Shattered and it is more inspired by the original Snow White story.

I'm not going to lie that of the many classic films I wish had a remake it would be Snow White, but the end result...I I like the idea of her being kind of a revolutionary, but not the way they did it for this movie, and like sorry, but there should still have the Prince but actually turn him into a actual character just like how they did with Charming in Cinderella 3 and a lot of issues that i have with him would be fixed(plus changing that fucking ass name, "Florian",that name is so fucking bad 💀💀💀)

The discussion of him being a Robin Hood type was actually the original plan, except he would be closer to Green Arrow where he actually ran the place. They're also using Jonathan as the name so...that's an improvement.
