You're right. The docking system is so unforgiving that if we stop a few cm too late, it displays a big "TOO FAR" for everybody to see. So we tend to come in on the slow side. At idle power, that's no easy task to guess the right speed because inertia depends on the aircraft weight and the tarmac slope. Here I had to put some power to gain the few cm too short. I didn't cut the film as a proof that it can happen also to the captain, even after a smooth landing ;)
I take it all the laughing in the flightdeck just prior to parking brakes on was that the Capt pulled up too short? had a laugh at that! shows that we are all humans ;-)
I suppose you could always use the C-130 "Sarajevo" approach! LOL. BTW - that touchdown looked incredibly smooth! Hard to say from the video when the wheels actually hit the ground. Looking forward to more!
Hey awesome video. I love these type of views any chance you can do some more NZ ones. Keep up the good work. also what airline do you fly for. Cheers Darryl.

As for the Airline, you'll have to guess :)
Thanks for the comment.
Air Tahiti Nui
Yes, that's part of the airline policy, that's easier for Crew Resource Management. Everybody (cockpit and cabin) speaks the same native language.
By the looks of it was a smooth landing great job
This is a great video! Hope you can put more into auckland up. This is sensational! :)
such a pro landing, nice job!
Looks like Air Tahiti Nui A340-300. You can see the reflection at the end of the video. :)
Amazing man !

My next video will be about Auckland, I just need some time to edit it.

Great! Thanks for uploading! Do you have any of a Queenstown approach?
Why were the reverses on so long?
Good guess for the accent, but from French Polynesia for the airline :)

Bands de rigolos... ahh les bons temps
Let me see the pilot face.
Just a minute? Why are they speaking French in the cockpit? Fine, but not a NZ airline.
It is Air Tahiti Nui, the national carrier of French Polynesia
Sorry, we only go to Auckland...
Besides, Queenstown is not suitable for Airbus A340.
air tahiti nui :)
Because your a pilot for air Tahiti nui do you have to speak French or something
