    Someone just sent me this message......
    Hi Danny. I love your new video. I've been going through a tough time recently and have experience betrayal from a close friend. For the last week I've been burning up and thinking about how to get even.
    Your video and the ending in particular inspired me to let go and live my life. I know this wasn't your intention, but incase you needed to hear something positive that came of your work recently.
    Keep doing what your doing because it has inspired me continuously to be more open minded and peaceful ever since i was a teenager.

      my mother is an extraordinarily narcissistic maniac and control freak while my father is inevitably an extraordinarily henpecked husband.
      my father thus spends almost all of his waking life obediently following my mothers endless instructions.. at a conscious level - he thinks that she is a wonderful woman and a martyr to a terrible rude and ungrateful son.. however, despite having been the head of an english dept and having taught shakespeare and chaucer and DH Lawrence - his favourite story is a trashy novel that ends with a browbeaten husband suddenly turning around and putting an ax through his tyrannical wife's head..
      vengeance is thus the fantasy of the impotent looking for an outlet for their rage..
      a wise man such as yourself - by contrast - is a more compassionate pragmatist - who does no more or less than you need to do to maintain control over your own life without allowing anyone else to interfere in it..

    Fantastic statement at the end. Really does make you think. The fact that the security guard probably did lose his job or was seriously embarrassed by his actions as his bosses knew what happened means that even without a court case, his life had been drastically changed. Even having to speak and explain himself to the police when normally the police side with security guards against the public would have affected his mental state. The security company actually did the right thing in offering you a replacement megaphone, though I suspect it was to stop them being sued because they knew they'd lose. Though as you say, that wouldn't have solved anything and you got your damaged property replaced so you're back to where you were before the event, and everyone has learnt a lesson.

    The way security behaved was totally out of order to use physical coercion as he did. When someone is standing up for animal rights then free speech becomes less of a right if it threatens the livelihood of a company or an individual it would seem. Under capitalism making money seems to be more important than speaking out for the rights of animals or the rights and lives of animals themselves. There is something wrong when a system just upholds those values and then denies the rights of other species and tries to take away the democratic rights of those who oppose that. Keep up the good work Danny Shine you have many supporters and try and stay safe.

    Danny are profoundly wrong and your dislike of the police has clouded your “judgement”! Instead of pressing charges and stopping that guy from quite possibly repeating his criminal behaviour again on someone else, your dislike of the justice system has “overridden” your duty to ensure a civil society. Assault, battery and damage to property is criminal behaviour which needs a lawful punishment...

    The problem with using a megaphone to exercise your freedom of speech in a public space is that you are intruding on people's auditary space in a manner they can't ignore or tune out, such that you are generating noise pollution and breaching other's peace. If you held a banner, handed out flyers or talked quietly face to face people would be more tolerant regardless of how much they disagree. Imposing yourself at high volume is intrusive, and perhaps should not be a right in a public space. Passers by might ignore you, but those who are rooted there because they are traders or customers are forced to listen to you. There are probably situations that mirror this, where you would not appreciate someone imposing their presence on you. Imagine if everyone walking through there had a megaphone and was doing like you.
    Notice people cheered on the security guard as he threw your megaphone, which may mean they thought you were causing a disturbance and were glad be able to eat / shop in peace.

    • @R.-.
      @R.-. Před 5 lety

      People use a megaphone when it's appropriate to use one, i.e. you are addressing a large crowd of willing listeners, or you must broadcast important information to many people at once. Had megaphones been available in ancient times, I'm sure people would have used them. Somebody standing for election to represent the public is generally considered to have justified reason to broadcast their message.
