    The 30watt seems to have smaller and fewer leaves but started to flower first. I assume the one on the right had more than enough leaves for the light to produce its flower. The 15watt needs bigger leaves to absorb more light to produce its flower.
    The aim for these plants are not to get big leaves but to flower and then seed.
    I grow Tropical plants for the foliage. The higher the watt the smaller the leaves; usually. My experience.. maybe not the same for these kind.

      I'm working in plant ecology and wanted to report right the same. Smaller leaves and earlier flower can be seen as better light conditions. You can find the same with plants species growing on open grasslands or in shade. In my opinion the higher watt goes a bit better since you can leave a bit more space between light source and plant and even might be able to place some more plants under one light source.

      @@botaniker6644 thanks for sharing this. What happens if you use the 30w, but continue to cut off the flowering buds? Would it be better for leaf growth?

      but if you're growing basil for the leafs not the flowers, once it flowers the leafs turn bitter.

      People always tell me that my plants (mostly aroids like monstera, philodendron,...) have smalls leaves because I didn't give them enough bright light to grow bigger. Now, after reading your comment, I'm so confused....

    Nice test. Great little lights. I started growing with white leds in 2011.
    Light wont scale the leaves. Ive noticed basil doesnt like a lot of water.
    Be well today.

    Great video, but the plant on the right is stressed. The light should be twice as far away to account for the increased power. Essentially, the larger lights give wider coverage, meaning you can put more plants under 1 light when the light is further away from the ground.

    HI, seem the video is long time ago, may I ask did you figure out way to fix / prevent damage /burn leaves issue?

    • @pepperdactyl
      @pepperdactyl  Před 9 měsíci +1

      The best thing is to have an accurate PAR meter, and use that to adjust the light distance or intensity.

      @@nicolassocci4311 Yes, it depends on your needs and other factors too. I have run HID lights before, and they do penetrate much more, but they generate lots of heat and cost more electricity. It's a trade-off.

    The 15 Watt plant looks way better, bigger and nicer. How can it be?

    • @pepperdactyl
      @pepperdactyl  Před 3 lety +2

      I don't know. The 15 watt has a more focused beam, maybe in that small setup scenario, it pushed more growth.

      @brianhardaway9716 Před 2 lety

      Ja I believe the light Prism is smaller therefore more intense? I also saw that the 15W is heller? Is that the 2Pak from Amazon? I need a light that cast wider but with enough power to stimulate growth. I am so confused. Thanks for the video.

    have you tried the 40 watt ?

    • @pepperdactyl
      @pepperdactyl  Před 6 lety +1

      No, I have not. I think it would be preferable to the 30. The way the 30 and 40 are diffused appears to cut the intensity quite a bit. I imagine they could server a larger footprint though. The 15 works surprisingly well.

      Yes, I think it was a trade-off. The 15 was much more focused, higher PAR within a tighter area. The 30 spread more light over, more diffused.
