    Dremel drill press and a jig might have helped with your hole drilling.

    You actually beat me to it in a sort of way. I am currently editing a vid that I shot about the flight-stands. Will be uploading it a bit later today. I found an even simpler way of assembling the flight-stands. It's all about what works the best for different people. No wrong or right way per se.
    I'm leaning towards 3 different heights for the planes, would help for easier identification on the board as some of the tacs look like regular bombers.

      Cool! Look forward to seeing the video soon! I'm almost 100% on the 3 heights...just a matter of what those heights are. Not sure if I want to go one notch lower than current for fighters and one notch higher for Strat Bombers or have the current height the fighter and go higher for both TAC and STR.

    That white residue from the glue will wipe/polish out with a microfibre towel or dremel buffing wheel at a very low speed (don't want to melt the plastic).
    Use the counter chips to play around with the look and decide on heights. Each chip should be about 1mm. Or, just push 2 stands together to use them like a shim and prop one of the stands with the plane on top of the other two bases. Now it's 3mm higher.
    Making flat spots with a knife definitely worked best for me until I had a custom drill bit made with a very shallow (almost non existent) point. Constructed a jig and clamped it down. Now theres no guess work. Set the first type of plane up for a nation, do all of those first. Just barely touch the plane to create a flat spot and a seat for the magnet. Adjust it to where you want the magnet on the next plane, and repeat (maybe complete the first one for each nation before you do them all).
    As for the carriers, I have them both ways. With magnets in the carriers, and mag paint on the decks. Can't decide which I like better.

      Thanks, absolutelywartorn! I freaked out a bit when I saw the white residue...then realized it easily came off. I've already cleaned them:-)
      I will definitely play around with the chips and your recommendations to figure out the heights I want. I'm thinking 35 mm for TAC and 38 mm for STB. I'll let you know for sure soon.
      Great product!!! Thanks for sharing with us all!

    I glued the magnet right onto the cross on the bottom of the Russian bomber. It sat really well. I'm thinking of taking my magnets off and redoing them so they are all facing north. Live and learn.

      @gijoe616  Před 6 lety

      I may try that on the other Russian bombers. I'm glad I did the north thing with the magnets. Really made it easy and interchangeable with all stands. I'm not happy with my work on all planes as they aren't level so I may order a few more from HBG and redo a few. With 600 magnets I've got plenty of those:-). I also started magnetizing my carriers like DK. Forgot to show that. Maybe next time.

      The other thing about drilling a hole is sitting the magnets in perfectly level. What I did was after it was glued in I sat it on a stand without the magnet and tried to level it before sitting the plane aside to dry.

      @gijoe616  Před 6 lety

      Yeah...that's what I have to redo on a few planes. Magnets aren't level. Didn't think of that idea of yours. May try that on next one.

    That stuka was simply hit by AAA, not a drill bit that went too far...LOL...battle damage!

    If you would do 3 heights, how many of each would you do? Something like 15 very high for Strategic Bombers, 20 for high for Tactical Bombers, and 65 standard for Fighters? WarTorn ships 100 stands in a kit and I'm curious how many of each height you think would work best.

    • @gijoe616
      @gijoe616  Před 6 lety

      Hey, JANFU. Thanks for watching!
      I already own 100 stands at normal height so I would be adding to what I have. Probably buy 25 bomber stands (enough for 4-6 for major powers) and 25-30 TAC.
      If I hadn't already bought stands and was considering doing a custom order for all 3 in the 100, I'd probably do what you're thinking, but knowing I'd run out. I would pay a bit extra and maybe get 120 stands and do something like:
      70 - fighter (game starts with about 40-42 on board)
      20 -25 TAC (game starts with about 17 on board)
      20-25 bombers (games starts with about 8 on board).

    9:16 how many planes fly straight and level all the time? Off centre might actually add a bit of character :)

      Lol...never thought of that. Good point:-)

    I’ve ordered some, however they have not arrived yet. How hard would it be to cut the clear plastic rod to your desired height? Since I haven’t seen them yet I wasn’t sure if that would be an option.

    • @gijoe616
      @gijoe616  Před 6 lety

      I'm not sure. Maybe a Dremel tool would work? I would have to defer to Wartorn on that one. My luck, I would splinter them or none of the stands would be the exact height and my OCD would kick in and it would drive me nuts:-)

      Just a note...I think you're going to like the heights. Especially that they leave room for 5 chips of infantry underneath. Comes in handy in Europe.
