Fun fact: adolescent Peregrine Falcons appear larger than their parents because they have fluffier feathers to make flying easier because they haven't fully developed their flight muscles. But the fluffier feathers that make flying easier increase drag, thus slowing down their attack. So as the flight muscles get stronger, the feathers get more streamlined to allow faster attack speeds.

Now I know you're right in what you say, but peregrine falcons still don't have much trouble in hunting pigeons either, regardless of the pigeon's manoeuvrability. I'd go to say that the peregrine falcons living in town and city centres, pigeons are probably their main source of food.

The reason Peregrine falcons don’t break their bones on contact at such high speeds is because their legs and talons have a lattice internal bone structure akin to a “bone sponge”. These bones are still hollow but spread the concussive force of each hit throughout the bone’s internal surface area.
Also another fun fact, the internal conical protrusion in the falcon’s nostril that allows them to breathe at such high speeds influenced the design of jet engines; it helped researchers overcome an issue with airflow into engines while flying at high speeds.

Some years back, I was in a parking lot and there was a large flock of pigeons. All of the sudden, they started to take off but one exploded in a cloud of feathers. That one was hit by a peregrine which carried it away before it could hit the ground. Never seen anything like it before or sonce in my life.
