    Cheers George, i've been round the houses fixing a problem on my E70. Some sensors had a continuous tone but no error codes. This might help someone else. Worth checking 3 things: 1) Error codes then listen to the sensor, it should click but either way better just to replace. 2) The little rubber seal is called a de-coupling ring and if it's broken or missing will cause issues 3) Water ingress likely caused by pressure washers as BMW recommends they're used no closer than 10cm on the sensors. As you say a dab of WD40 should help. Hope that helps someone else.

    Hi George, thank you for this video ! I have change 2 parking sensor with exactly same reference as the other two but now, my car is not making any noise when I put the gear in reverse ... Is it necessary to reset error codes with an OBD ? (I have a BMW 320D E46)

    Hi mate, thx! If one is at fault....do the other 3 refuse their function somehow? Is this a “in series” problem or the computer disabling the signal, cause it misses 1 input out of 4?

      If one is faulty, the whole system will stop working to let you know that one is faulty. The last thing you want is not being aware that the Right sensor is broken and drive into something because the car didnt beep

    Ignition on in reverse then do a recording of each sensor on your phone and play it back, it makes a funny noise!!, so you’ll know witch one is gone.

  • @whatusername1234
    @whatusername1234 Před 2 lety +4

    After a heavy rainfall, rain seems to get inside the sensors and causes them to malfunction . A Couple of days of warm weather direct sunlight usually fixes the issue or you can do what I did..
    I used a portable vacuum (18v Milwaukee) I put the hose on the blower side of the vacuum and used a crevice attachment (this increases the speed of the air) and aimed it at each sensor while varying the angle of directed air and it worked. No direct contact between the vacuum attachment and car panels/bumbers.

    Parking sensors can collect dust and dirt and moisture over time, but I would highly recommend to NEVER spray a substance like WD40 on it. WD40 contains oils and other substances that will cause more dirt, dust and rubbish to collect on your parking sensor. It may fix it, for a very short time, but it will collect crud and fail. If you must spary them to clean them, Isopropyl alcohol is the only thing you should use. Other than that, compressed air, just blowing out the sensor is the best way so you don't get residue from WD40 or similar on them.
