JHAL MURI
Ingredients
For Bhaja Masala
1 tbsp Cumin Seeds (जीरा)
1 tbsp Fennel Seeds (सौंफ)
1 tsp Coriander Seeds (धनिया के बीज)
2-3 Green Cardamom (हरी इलायची)
A pinch Salt (नमक)
For Jhalmuri
1 cup Puffed Rice (मुरमुरा)
2 tbsp Chana Jor Garam (चना जोर गरम)
2 tbsp Sev (सेव)
1 fresh Green Chillies - chopped (हरी मिर्च)
1 tbsp White Peas - boiled (सफेद वटाना)
1 tbsp Black Chickpeas - soaked (काला चना)
2 tbsp Onion - chopped (प्याज़)
2 tbsp Tomato - chopped (टमाटर)
1 tsp Bhaja Masala (भाजा मोसला)
½ small Potato - boiled & chopped (आलू)
2 tbsp Mustard Oil from Pickle (अचार से निकाला हुआ सरसों का तेल)
Salt to taste (नमक स्वादानुसार)
1 tbsp fresh Coconut - chopped (ताजा नारियल)
Process
For Bhaja Masala
Dry roast all the ingredients until fragrant and grind it into a fine powder after it’s cooled down.
For Jhalmuri
Mix all the ingredients one by one in a bowl and serve immediately.

I remember the days when we reached Kolkata station and vendors used to come and sell JHALMURI for 10-15 Rs.

We bengalis generally use "Jhal Chanachur" instead of chana jhor garam and sev, except this every detail is just awesome 😜
Also the type of Muri/Murmura you use really matters for authentic JhalMuri.

The Jhalmuri is so Rich but price is like normal jhalpuri & the Jhalmuri wale is so Dildar . thora Cucumber 🥒 mangoge to Adhe sliced cucumber de dega . Matlaab jitna bolu utna kaam hain yaar . Line lagana parta hain Jhalmuri leneke liye . & the 2nd One was my 1st special Jhalmuri in School days . still the jhalmuri wala make jhalmuri like that old days . Uska Style bhi bohot alag hain . phir kavi bataungaa.

I'm very impressed by Ranveer's Bengali pronunciations. We used to add dry chillies in bhaja masala. Instead of sev we add jhal chanachur and also cucumber in jhal muri

Thank you for making our Jhal Muri recipe popular. Been eating and making it since childhood and absolutely love it. It is incomparable with any other Muri. In fact, our bhel is also very different and amazing with crumbled dhokla, boiled potatoes and papdi added to it.
