I can't even listen to anything about this film without shedding tears. It meant so much to me at that time.
I loved this movie precisely because of Ione's exquisite beauty and also because of the sweetness and intelligence of her Diane Court character. It is amazing to me that Ione is still so GORGEOUS in her 50s. It would be great if Cameron Crowe did a sequel to Say Anything with a good script and with her and John Cusack in their roles as that beautiful couple.

You couldn't do the boombox scene these days. Lloyd would be arrested for trespassing and Diane's parents would file for a restraining order.
the thing that people saying this bs, even in jest, nowadays don't get, is that he is not standing right outside her window in the scene, but at the nearby park, in long-earshot. she doesn't come to the window or go down there, there's no dialogue. it is more a suggestion, a reminder from him. stop making it something that it isn't!..
I watched this movie last night.
Classic film.
Ione and John are perfect.
I was a junior in High School when this came out and can remember it vividly and when my kids were teens they loved it too. They’re now in their 30’s. It’s definitely a classic.

i finally got around to watching this movie. going on a bit of an 8's binge. This movie was brilliant. wish i saw it as a kid. i've seen that boombox thing my entire life, and now i've seen the movie
Why did the boom box scene became so iconic? Credit Peter Gabriel and his amazing "In your eyes" song, pretty sure any other song would not have worked the magic in that scene.

Did you know the scene wasn’t recorded with that song, it was with a song by fishbone. In Your Eyes was dubbed in later. Also, the ending song was supposed to be the Smithereens A Girl Like You, but Cameron thought it gave too much of the film away so nixed it. They put it on their album and it is a smash hit
Absolutely correct and that's one thing they neglected to say as they talked about for 10 minutes that iconic scene it was all about the song in your eyes

This movie has a lot of meaning to me. When I was in high school in the mid 90s I loved this movie and it reminds me of a girl I had a crush on but we were total opposites and I knew she wouldn’t like me. I never ended up dating her but we are still friends to this day. Fast forward to present time and Ione in this movie looks so much like my most recent crush. We had such a great bond like Lloyd and Diane in the movie. Then I get to the scene wheee she gives him the pen and turns her back to him and that’s where I am with things now. She won’t tell me why she hates me now. Love the movie but it surely does bring back memories of past and present. I feel like a real life Lloyd Dobler looking for his Diane Court..

I saw this movie with a young woman with whom i had just started dating. We were the same age as these characters and I drove a Chevy Nova at the time. She was out of my league as well but I didn't treat it that way. When you are attracted to someone enough - just go for it. This was to this day and i have loved deeply since then, one of the best dates of my life so for sure this movie means something special to me

Just watched Say Anything for the first time, and yeah, she was adorable as the day is long . I was too young to see and appreciate it back then as a 10 year old, but its a great film.

I always liked the Gas & Sip scene. And of course Lloyd explaining his future plans to dinner guests.

Mostly, I have watched John C movies…but now after watching Ione’s “My Secret Billionaire” & “Say Anything”, been a fan in an instant…her beauty did not fade after 3 decades….by the way, I’ve watched both movies more than 3 times each already, no kidding, in Disney + & Amazon’s Prime Video….coincidentally, her character’s name in both is”Dianne”

i am in my 50s,and i might have seen some of this movie before but just watched it twice from start from finish,i knew the iconic scene on other shows was from a movie but not sure it was from say anything,good movie,good chemistry between cusack and skye,kinda made me sad with being in love and close to someone as my on again,off again boyfriend died in february

Love her in Say Anything but I LOVE HER!!!! in River's Edge, more my type of girl (Heavy Metal White Trash...) :) in my opinion a far superior movie as well, but both are in my top 10 though...
I have always felt that Ione Skye doesn´t like show bussiness too much. She´s gorgeous but i feel she´s a real woman, like an everyday good looking next door woman.
