Good tips, just got a CX-5 for my new daily
What ceramic coating product do you use? It would be helpful if you told us.
I used optimum gloss coat, which is intended for exterior I just had some extra to use on the interior. Since recording this I do recommend this clear protector which will cover up scratched czcams.com/video/9LmgC7K9JAo/video.html
Thx
PLEASE PLEASE tell me how to clean the DASHBOARD. It seems like it’s rubberized and so afraid to touch it till I know correct way to clean it properly ! Thank you
Giots garage interior detailer in a microfiber cloth is what I use. It gets all the dust up and does not leave a artificial shine.
I will look into this . Thank you
I bought my Mazda used, 2 yrs old. Someone did clean it during the pandemic with alcohol. Now it looks scratched but most likely just the anti scratch coating missing. Is there something I can do to refurbish it?? Thanks.
Thank you!
An alternative to the ceramic coating are the various vinyl and carbon fiber covers available.
I have had my cx5 for more than a year, and my piano black has no scratches. I try not to touch it, and i love the borderless microfiber towels.
All piano black trim should get coverd by ppf lear plastic. That will ceep it nice for a long time. Cermic coting protect it from staining an makes it easier to clean. But it will scratch.
What is ppf lear plastic?
Ppf would be ideal. Especially if your a little hard on the interior. I do find the ceramic coating does work surprisingly well though.
@@thetechlibrarian what is PPF? I know what ceramic coatings are, but ppf, I don't know.
Paint protection film. It's kind of like a clear wrap for your car
@@calliew311Yes, like the other guy said, imagine you took clear tape that you couldn’t see was on top of the plastic and put it over the plastic. It covers the plastic so it’s safe, and you can’t see it.
Thank you for the video. I have a mazda cx-5 as well and i tried removing scratches from the piano with a product i purchased from amazon now theres a white opaque residue left..would you know or anyone how can i remove the residue?
I would probably try a plastic polish
@@CarsForNoobs Hi thank you for your recommendation, i tried it and it actually worked!🤩
Wow thanks for telling me I ruined my screen already.
Use the Resin Remover product together with a microfiber cloth and you will make it new back! You just need to rub’it for 5-10 minutes allover and it will be 100% like new! I did this and has worked 100%. The screen is brand new! You will thank me later✌️🍷
How do you clean that rubberized dashboard ??
I'm using 303 aerospace protectant
Are you having any issues with your infotainment screen changing on its own (like settings or radio stations changing)?im having this issue
Have not noticed anything like that
Both our 2017 CX5 and Mazda 3 started ghosting about the same time. It’s a known issue & we found many complaints on the internet. My husband had to contact Mazda & the dealer a few times and worked a deal. We payed half the install price to dealer and Mazda paid for the new screen, I think it was $150 for each, it was a year or two ago.
If leather starts pealing it's not real leather
Maybe it depends on how we define "peeling" I've definitely seen real leather look like it's "peeling", whether is it technically peeling or not
The seats are Nappa Full Grain.
Like most, I thought 'Genuine Leather' grain's name distinguished it from immitation leather, but research I've done, copied and pasted below, says no.
The other great surprise for me was Genuine/Premium (Corrected Grain) Grain's name not indicating superiority, which I can't help but wonder is a marketing term to promote a lesser quality.
Steering wheel leathers I've read are nearly always Pigmented Leather, (a sprayed on false appearance applied to animal hide for durability). The article below cites 'Split Leather', from the animal's Corium (or dermis), as the origin, and goes on I think to confirm it by speaking of an added 'Layer', (the pigmentation ?) given to it to strengthen.
I'd be very keen to learn from any more anybody:-
(Copy & Paste below):-
Known as a hide, it is light yet strong and naturally water-resistant.
The hide's processing includes:-
Curing and fleshing, to remove fats and salts; Liming and de-liming, to remove hair; splitting, to separate the flesh layer from the top grain; & Bating and pickling, to expand and soften the hide
After this preparation, the hide is then tanned using chromium salts or vegetable tanning extracts, before the last finishing stage. Here the leather may be stretched, hand-painted or split for a particular thickness.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF LEATHER?
When we talk about different types of leather, we refer to the layers of the original hide that are preserved in the finished material. This is what’s known as leather grades.
Listed from best quality to worst, the five types, or grades of leather are:-
Full grain leather;Top grain leather;Genuine leather (also known as premium leather);Split-grain leather;Bonded leather.
An animal’s hide is split into four sections; the grain; grain and corium junction; the corium; and the flesh. The better the quality of the leather, the more layers it preserves.
WHAT IS FULL GRAIN LEATHER?
Full grain leather is made using the majority of the animal hide; essentially keeping everything but the hair and flesh. This results in a thicker, heavier material that creates extremely durable leather goods.
By keeping the outer layer, full grain leather also preserves the hide’s natural grain. From every scratch to scrape, each mark is celebrated, making every piece unique. It's the best quality, and unlike any other grade of leather, it only gets better with age.
WHAT IS TOP GRAIN LEATHER?
Top grain leather is created by sanding or buffing away the outermost layer of the animal hide. This gives it a more uniform look and is therefore often used for mid-range manufactured products. It leaves a more flexible, softer finish, however, this makes it less durable over time.
WHAT IS GENUINE LEATHER?
Genuine, or premium leather may sound like the best option but is in fact the opposite. The other name for genuine leather is Corrected-Grain leather, as it is sanded down to remove inconsistencies before being dyed or painted. This often results in a thinner, weaker material used for cheaper leather goods such as belts.
WHAT IS SPLIT LEATHER?
Split grain leather only uses the corium section of the hide. This results in the most fragile form of real leather and therefore has a low life expectancy. You may find it on STEERING WHEELS or cheap leather furniture. An artificial layer is also often added to split leather to strengthen it.
WHAT IS BONDED LEATHER?
Bonded leather (also known as composition or blended leather) is made from scraps of leather fibres mixed with rubber or polyurethane binding materials. It is then embossed with a leather texture to give the appearance of a certain grain.
Piano black scratches easy if you keep rubbing it with your damn finger. Don't touch it! There is no reason for anyone to be touching it.
It scratches if you look at it.
A little bit of dust can scratch it also
Kind of hard not to touch it when it is located where your hands are all the time. I also ran the car vacuum gently in that area and it scratched it. Mazda made a poor choice of material for that area.
Alcantara would be much nicer.
Thank you!
