  • These past 2 weeks of recovery have been the hardest emotionally yet I’ve had the most tender, sweet moments.
    PT has been working but I’ve just been dealing with a roller coaster of emotions.

    Continued prayers!!! God’s got you. As before, I’ve had this same surgery before. Between 6-8 weeks post surgery I had those random nerve flare ups you described. My doctor said that it is a direct result of scar tissue building up post surgery and that once you can do more PT for restrengthening your back muscles they cut open it will go away. And it did. I was scared. Terrified. But then the doctor was right. Praying for peace for your heart and brain and then healing for your body, mind, and soul.

    Hi Chloe
    I had L5S1 surgery two years ago, recovery is slow and steady. That is just the way you want it to go, don’t push yourself and trust the process. I have a great Physio that I still see now every few months, she reassures me I’m doing great. I still have fuzzies in my lower back and little flutters in my calf. The new me is a different version but this is life going forward, I don’t life heavy, still get up and move very 1 1/2 hours to reset my back, and don’t stand for to long. I choose to look after myself and my family are a great support. I have found a love of yoga and enjoy walking, have a good balance still incorporating my exercises to keep my muscles activated. Trust me you’ve got this, there is so much to still do, so celebrate that, you are strong, stay positive and celebrate your wins. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

    When i was diagnosed with Crohns disease i felt the same as you. I couldnt leave the house or go too far. I had so much pain, nausea, having to go 20 times a day to the toilet and i thought my life would be like that forever, because there's no cure. I only had improvments one year after. It was hard not knowing how to deal with this. I had many difrent meds, until i got the right ones. Now I'm fine. Not 100%, but 95%. So stay strong, you will recover. It is hard, but these are the things that makes us value the normality of our lives. Get better soon.

    Hi! I am 7 days post op from laser discectomy L4/5 and L5S1. I came out with right foot numbness and weakness which I did not have prior to my surgery. I am doing better but the numbness you are describing is exactly what I feel. I’m nervous and experiencing ups and downs too. Wondering if my foot will ever feel normal again. It’s definitely hard.

    • @ChloeBrown
      @ChloeBrown  Před rokem +1

      My dr was so affirming and was confident it would heal with time.. the more I look into it the more I trust it will heal. Also, sometimes the nerve block (steroids) they inject on the nerve during surgery can freak the nerve out too. If you need any suggestions for PT work, I AM YOUR GIRL! the stretches on the back of the calf help me SOOOO much! and getting a tens unit to strengthen the weak muscle has improved my walking so much

    • @terrisajkowski3866
      @terrisajkowski3866 Před rokem

      Hey Chloe! Thanks for replying. I’m 11 days post op and still dealing with the right leg nerve pain/tingling etc…. But each day it seems to be different better I guess. One day I feel good the next I feel tired and have more pain. And now I have this rash all over my back. I guess I’m allergic to the surgical skin prep. So that’s super itchy and annoying. The tens helped me get my feeling back into my toe. I totally get how you are feeling. It tears at my soul when something is on the floor and I can’t pick it up!!! And of course the normal mom stuff. I hate not being able to do my housework. I also have the grabbers, sock helper etc! Yes we got this. It’s definitely an emotional roller coaster. I keep you in my prayers everyday. I hope your foot drop heals soon. Not sure if I mentioned this but this is my second discectomy. I had a more invasive one done 13 years ago. It was definitely a 3 month recovery back then before I felt better. So hang in there. You will be normal again and God willing pain free. Keep me posted and feel free to reach out to me anytime. I don’t post stuff to social media often but I am so thankful for your videos. Really nice to see I’m not alone in this! My FB is Terri Guthlein Sajkowski

    Just FYI, the reason you should not get steroid shots is because it eats away at the bone. While it can relieve the pain almost instantly, it can cause more damage than good. Steroid shots should not be given more than maybe twice a year. You don't want to get temporary relief only to worsen something else.

      Yes I am aware of osteoporosis. I told my dr I don’t want anymore because of that lol he agreed and said it’ll get better and I won’t need as many after my surgery 👍🏻
