For me the main problem with crystal is censorship. They removed all bloody and violent scenes from manga, and as a result we have reboot for 12 year old girls. More violence was in old sailor moon. I was hoping they will cross this barrier and show to everyone that sailor moon is not only for girls. I had too many hopes...

+NewNeko2000 Sailor moon is not only for girls. However, you will see the compare between two shows that are not only for girls: Sailor Moon(Anime) and The Powerpuff Girls(Amercian Cartoon Show).

+NewNeko2000 Yeah. I can't understand that. In some ways, C is actually more faithful to the manga. For example I like that it shows the four generals of Endymion (the Shitennouu) Jadeite, Nephrite, Zoisite and Kunzite for who they truly were. And it lets them reappear later in the story unlike the old anime. But on the other hand, it completely destroys the drama of the Dark Kingdom story arc by NOT showing any of the Shittenou die in the first series. Jadeite screws up three times in a row and nothing happens, the scene cuts off when he receives Sailor Mars's attack. Then he stops going on missions but he keeps hanging around. WTF?!

+NewNeko2000 But... there was also a lot of censurship in the 90ies anime... What I don't like of Crystal: they anyway made some things different then the manga (Sailor Venus beats Queen Metallia, not Sailor Moon), so why the Whole reboot? I also don't like that they made the transformations in 3D: the whole should be made the same, 3D OR 2D, not mixed up...
I prefer the old anime, cause you have the time to know the girls better and it's, how can I say, "more" anime... You know, when they have the drop of water on their head when they are embaraced, or when the head goes really red... That's all missing in the new anime. What I like of Crystal: I like the open credits, because each line is referred to a guardian. I also like the colors...

I disagree on the idea that "we don't want new." I wanted new. I wanted to see a beautiful, well done, modernized Sailor Moon. But it was not beautiful or well done. If the series didn't have such a piss poor budget and if Toei actually gave this series any respect, it could have been great! But it fell flat on just about everything.
The music (aside from the opening sequence) is painfully bland, generic, and forgettable. The animation is just an abomination, literally the worst quality I have ever seen in all my years of watching anime. Derpy eyes and fucked up anatomy everywhere. Most of the animation was outsourced to Korea to the lowest bidder. Completely amateur animators who don't know what the fuck they're doing. The CG transformations are stiff, they lack detail in the character designs, and the music doesn't fit (except for Rei). The only reason they're CG is because it's cheaper animation, and it wasn't even done well. This animation pales in comparison to the 1992 anime, and what's especially depressing about this is that you'd think that after 20+ years of animation quality getting better in general, Crystal would have no problem looking better than the original if it looked at least decent. But it doesn't. It just doesn't. You'd have to be blind not the see that.
Crystal is also supposed to be faithful to the manga and it can't even do that right!! Crystal is just all sorts of wrong and the only reason it exists, is to sell merchandise and to gain the rights of Sailor Moon so that Toei could distribute it internationally (because Takeuchi wouldn't give it up unless they promised Crystal would follow the manga). So there's *some* good to come out of Crystal's existence at least, but I can't be very thankful considering how shitty its production value is.
I still sort of enjoy following the story though, so I continue to watch and follow along while laughing at the atrocious animation errors. It's fine that some fans enjoy Crystal despite all of its flaws, as long as they still acknowledge that these flaws do in fact exist. It's fine if the bad animation doesn't bother you, but that doesn't mean it's not still bad. What I really can't stand are the delusional fans who think that Crystal is flawless, the fans who think that everyone else who's upset with the show's obvious mistreatment is "not a real fan." We ARE real fans, and that's why we care so much, that's why we're so disappointed in Crystal.
It's okay to be critical of a show you like, and you don't have to like every single version of it. That doesn't make spmeone any less of a fan. If it did, then 99% of the My Little Pony fandom wouldn't be true fans, but no one questions their true fan status if they don't watch the older shows.

+Lily Shimizu The late movies of the 90s series had the peak of the show's animation quality. I found Crystal too bright and faded, girls too skinny and doll-like and the lack of realism jarring, the 90s series fixed a lot with what they knew wouldn't translate from the Manga's more whimsical style.

Thats exactly why Toei's anime look like the laziest, shit when compared to most other studios. Though they don't care because they rely on the ignorance of the nostalgia-blind views and arm-chair animators to make excuses for them. Just look at how ugly Dragonball Super is. Yet fanboys defend it because we're not grateful enough.

    • @LilyShimizu
      @LilyShimizu Před 8 lety +3

***** ugh, Fangirls do the same thing with Crystal, they defend it and keep saying "we should be grateful that they did this at all and stayed true to the manga" and I'm like no not really. Why would I be grateful for an anime that was so carelessly handled? I refuse to be grateful for something so poorly produced that I didn't even ask for. I haven't even read the manga yet, but if I did I would still be just as disappointed, if not more so because Toei just ruined the whole thing. It's not even that faithful to the manga from what I've heard.
The only thing I can be grateful for thanks to Crystal is the resurgence of Sailor Moon (not Crystal) products and the remastered, redubbed original series. Toei had to agree to make Crystal in order to gain the full rights to Sailor Moon and do those things, or so I read.

Actually, as much as I love the 90s series, I'm really enjoying Crystal so far, as it clearly as a more solid plot (that's staying closer to the manga, despite some wee changes) and the action sequences are nicer compared to the stock animation that each attack used to have. It's not perfect and there are some things that I'm not very happy with (CGI, some inconsistency with the artwork), but overall I'm quite happy to have the chance to watch some new adventures of some of my most beloved characters.

The original was better so far. While there is far less filler in Crystal, I just recently watched the original seasons as well. Usagi is annoying, but that is her character.

  • @ingonyama70
    @ingonyama70 Před 9 lety +20

Watching the first episodes side-by-side, I honestly prefer Crystal. The new transformations look incredible to my eyes. And the music is STELLAR, and doesn't sound like it'll be horribly dated in 5 years' time. (Sailor Mars has the BEST transformation music!)
The art style reminds me of the manga, both the things I like about it and the things I don't. My problems with the character designs are problems I had with the manga's designs, so they're kind of endemic to the series. I can deal.
I do feel like Usagi's voice fits the character. Usagi is 14, a self-proclaimed crybaby, and not the brightest bulb in the box. She acts and sounds like a 14-year-old girl; in fact, I'd argue she's the only one of the Senshi who actually acts her age. The rest are already very mature and responsible, which is good for making us like them, but not realistic. Usagi is the one who feels the truest to life, and her shrill, whiny voice helps with that. We know she'll mature and become a more responsible young woman over time, we just need to see that happen.
My problems come in later episodes...or rather, the LACK of later episodes.
The filler was one of people's biggest problems with the old show, but I feel it added depth to the characters. Characterization is one of the big things I look for in an animated series, be it anime or Western. The last animated show that really won me over with its diverse and interesting cast was Avatar: The Last Airbender.
The main problem, to me, is that Sailor Moon Crystal has been so fast-paced with its central plot that they don't take any time out to let the characters *be* characters. Sadly, I feel like this show needs about twice as many episodes as it's getting to give all the characters the treatment they deserve.
A prime example is Rei, who was the most obnoxious thing about the old series until Chibiusa came along, but is now almost a complete non-entity outside her debut episode. Same with Ami. The central characters are Usagi and Mamoru, and that's fine, but the other characters have all been placed on the back burner so much that I start to wonder what the point is.
They don't fight as many Youma in this either, thanks to the show's faster pacing. While great for not bombarding us with filler we don't care about, this has the unfortunate downside of making the girls' attacks look weaker...how many times now has everyone used their powers in combination on an opponent and gotten the combination shrugged off? How many times has an attack actually been effective? It's a disparity that hurts the characters.
Crystal *can* fix this, and I hope they do. They just need to slacken the pace a little bit, have fights that aren't "Senshi vs. Shitennou," and let characters who aren't Mamoru and Usagi have moments of interaction. Whether they will or not remains to be seen.

      @LilyShimizu Před 9 lety +8

Curt Clark I'm surprised that you give such high praise to the new transformation sequences. They lack detail and fluidity, the models are too stiff, the music clashes and is painfully generic and forgettable. Mars' transformation has the ONLY good, fitting music.
You really nailed the part about Characterization though. In Crystal the other scouts have barely any personality, they just blindly follow Usagi, and they praise her way too much considering they barely know her.

My main issue with SMC is the fact that it really, and I mean REALLY did not follow the manga very well. Sure, Sailor Moon's fuku is accurate to the manga but still. Another thing was the tendency to not keep scenes and characterization from the manga in tact. The art...? Well, it could have been closer too. SMC could have worked better had they not strayed from the source material as far as characterization and events in the plot go. It also would have been better if the inners weren't getting knocked over every 30 seconds unlike the manga where they didn't.
A majority of the fandom wanted to get a Sailor Moon anime that is as close to the manga as possible.

Seasons 2 and 3 were much closer adaptions than season 1. I knew after the second episode that there would be some panels of content cut from the manga because there just wasn't space in the time allotted for each episode. In season 3 there was quite a bit of censorship too.

I agree with all your statements, and while this may just be my opinion, what really ruined it for me was not only the terrible anatomy and design choices, but the dumb and illogical plot points, like Sailor Mercury getting her fUCKING TRANSFORMATION PEN OUT OF AN ARCADE MACHINE. LIKE, WHAT???? And to add a little extra stupid to the garbage heap they gave us, not only does Sailor Moon get her disguise pen from the same place, but by tHROWING A TANTRUM AND BEATING THE SHIT OUT OF THE MACHINE UNTIL IT SPITS IT OUT, LIKE, HUH?!???!?
But don't worry, instead of making this a thing which would have been at the very bare-bottom least consistent, they just make Luna have it when we are introduced to Sailor Mars. You know, cause wHO NEEDS PLOT, HUH??? HAHAHAHA FUCK TRYING AT ALL.

    What I liked about crystal:
The music. It's amazing and very well done.
The art style. I'm not talking about the animation here. People are hating on the art style because it's too different from the original anime, but I think that's the whole point. The characters are beautifully drawn. They look elegant and sleek. Yes, the proportions are not realistic, but this is anime we're talking about. And for all those whining about how thin they are, they were just as thin in the later seasons of the 90s anime. I don't hear you complain about that art style.
The transformations. Apart from the CGI, the transformation sequences were extremely well done. The choreography was beautiful, fluid and powerful. It would have looked better if it was all hand drawn instead of using CGI. But I much prefer these transformations instead of the new ones in crystal season 3. If you ignore he CGI and focus on the choreography, you'll realize that the transformations are very good. I particularly like Venus' henshin. It's so good that I don't even mind the CGI in that one.
    What I don't like:
The characters are two dimensional stick figures without any substance. They're soul-less and, if it wasn't for the 90s anime, I wouldn't have cared one bit about any of them. The filler episodes, in the original anime, made it possible for these characters to be fleshed out. To me they were real people dealing with real life problems on top of having to save the world. In the new anime, they just appear alongside sailor moon, and, more often then not, are completely useless.
The animation. It started out really well in the first episode. The animation was detailed and fluid. I think the opening sequence of Usagi's dream, with princess serenity running towards Endymion, was one of the few well-animated scenes in the entire two season. Unfortunately it kept going from bad to worse.

My main gripe was because of Rei being less outspoken as she was my favorite character in the anime.
I know the story in crystal was probably awesome, but the pacing is a bit too fast, the non-cgi animation off most of the time, and the cgi transformations and their song completely ruined it for me. I mean, they took 88 episodes worth of story and broke it down to 26 episodes. Beryl's arc in the original felt like it was suppose to last 46 episodes. However, crystal turned that arc into something that meant very little. It felt as if that arc ended way too fast in crystal, whereas I would've been satisfied if the original anime ended with the Beryl arc. I'll probably check out the full season when Viz dubs it.

I personally don't mind kotono mitsuishi due to nostalgic reasons, even though you are right about the high pitch voice! >_<
Also, CGI transformations?? When has CGI ever been a good idea, especially for an anime? It kinda makes them look fake (for anime characters). Also, toei animation could've provided better animation in the show at that point. When Sailor moon spins her scepter, it looks like she's shaking a stick.
Aside from all that, it's still entertaining. I wouldn't go out of my way to buy it on DVD, or even stream it again on hulu, but it did its' job. It's sad that this show had to be pushed back twice a whole year after it's promised released, and it STILL became a mess!

Everyone keeps going on about the proportions of the characters and it's driving me nuts. The characters have always been very tall and slim, even in the 90s anime. I mean, have you guys seen the legs on Sailor Mars? Or Jupiter? Go back and watch it! It's an art style and honestly after watching 24 episodes, I have to say that everything goes together quite well. The colors, cgi, art style, transformations, music. It's cleaner and more vibrant and it does look good. The only two little things that bother me is bringing back the annoying voice actor for Sailor Moon ( I was looking forward to a new and better voice for her ) and that we don't get any "filler"episodes. I much prefer sticking to the plot and I don't need nor want 10+ filler episodes but a chance to flesh out the characters would be nice. P.S The Reviewer hates change.

I'm shocked to hear someone say they don't like Usagi's voice actor. When I first heard the original version of Sailor Moon, I cringed about how high Usagi's voice (considering I was used to the dub's version which wasn't nearly as high). Now I'm used to it and don't hate it. But we have to face it: If the original Sailor Moon didn't return, the backlash, as big as it is, would have been double at least.

And Usagi's voice actor? I love her. I love the emotion she has. The English actress always failed to make me feel the emotions I should have been feeling. However the actress from Japan just makes me bawl like a baby every time. I think that's why they brought her back. She evokes emotion in people.

A lot of fans, myself included, were hoping that the reboot would be something that was a continuation of something that would happen after the last season, Sailor Stars. I've seen a lot of fan art of Chibiusa with the amazon quartet in their sailor forms, as an idea for a "next generation" story. That was an idea that hadn't really crossed my mind before. But I definitely like that idea more that what ended up coming out... In fact I'm actually hope that's an idea that will at some point be fully executed. Nowadays, with a new director and a new writing staff and with people pretty much saying that they actually enjoyed watching season three of Sailor Moon Crystal. You can't possibly find any more flaws with the new Sailor Moon series still going on. Especially with the next installment of SMC coming out, this year. But, only time will tell. Plus, the Blu-Ray version of SMC actually corrected some of the animation errors in season one and two. But, not by much.

    @SuperBlaze22 Před 9 lety +7

FIRST OFF! I wanna say is if it wasn't for the "filler" in the original anime, these characters, their chemistry, and their relationship depth and variety would be non-existent! Those "filler" episodes even allowed us to have villains with depth as well. The original anime did things loosely based on the manga INTENTIONALLY because the manga was soooo fundamentally lacking. It was cute for a read but that's it. It was nothing but heroics, grandeur, but no true substance. The only character with any depth was Minako because she has two whole mangas that focused on her and her alone. the cast is too large for a short manga like Sailor Moon to really get into the PERSON(s) and not just the events around them. These characters were so well round and explored in the original anime, we got to see them deal with things in many different ways that we could relate to. So many moods expressions. And that's why we love them. Because they were REAL per say. They were more than a bunch of girls forced to be together fighting a new big bad every season. Sailor Moon Crystal offers NOTHING! Ridiculously bad art/animation, rushed microwaved story, characters with no lives, flaws, or minds of their own. All they do is follow Usagi around and have nothing but nice things to say about her, that is so FAKE! That's not friendship, that's slavery. Slaves to bad writing and directing. Totally reduced to nothing and totally alienating people who had favorities BESIDES Usagi. They aren't respected as individuals anymore They're a bunch of ugly lifeless mannequins. As for the voice acting of Ms.Kotono. She sounds so forced and unnatural in comparison to her initial run with Sailor Moon. Trying to replicate a younger you when you actually had to REALLY perform to build this character in the 90's is no longer important because the deed was already done, and that being the case you'll be given a pseudo version of what was good. And the original anime being loosely based allowed for MUCH MORE innovative and creative freedom that has been ingrained the Sailor Moon lore itself. Also, Sailor Moon Crystal wasn't even made in Japan, It was sold to a TERRIBLE Korean studio(mind you Korea is notoriously known for terrible art/animation), who bought it for cheap and TOEI said HELL YEAH to that, they get to raise Sailor Moon awareness but don't have to spend a dime on it! And as a result of buying it for selling/buying it cheap, and having no budget or TV broadcast company to fund it, you get a very ugly, stiff, lifeless amateur production, distractingly bad series that has not heart or any great ESTABLISHED and KNOWN Japanese producers behind it. this was the worst idea EVER. Clearly the Sailor Moon Crystal merchandize is not selling well and that alone speak volumes. thank god they don't make much of it. LOL.

I actually enjoy Crystal for following the manga more closely. As you said about the animation, I seriously agree. While there are moments with the animation that I like (especially for knowing it is following the creator's art style,) there are other moments where it did not feel the same.
There are two gripes that I have: for for a series that follows the manga more closely, they should have had all the senshi in their book accurate attire. Sailor Mercury looks so much cooler without sleeves and Sailor Venus with her Love Me Chin, but why doesn't Sailor Mars not have her locket, nor Sailor Jupiter have her belt with potpourri? The other gripe is that when I first learned of the series, I felt it was marketed as a reboot, showing moments nearly scene for scene to the original anime. While I am not speaking of scenes from the general plot, I am referring to transformations and attacks. Perhaps it is me desiring something to distinguish it some more, seeing it feel like a reskin of the old gave me a bad first impression, until I watched the first two episodes, and brought me to want to research and read the manga. The show went from something I watched with my niece to a character I genuinely like. Considering this comment is nearly six years after this video, I feel some elements were improved with the Infinity Arc, but sadly no Dream nor Stars.

Bad animation, lack of comedy, and failure to adapt the source material. That is what Sailor Moon Crystal is. It is modern day anime garbage that is not distinguishable from the bajillion anime out there today that litter today's society with it's eye-bleeding saturated colors, and still animation movements. Each character's design is horrible and do not match closely to Naoko's art AT ALL. Naoko's art was beautiful. Characters didn't look like giraffes, they made very silly faces, Sailor Moon was the very parody of Super Sentai that it intended to be from start to finish and that's why most of the fans loved it. We loved the unique characters, and even the 90's anime, as flawed as it is, had the spirit of the manga despite not following it directly through!
In other words, Sailor Moon just got the Ranma 1/2 treatment. For Ranma 1/2, the classic anime didn't look 100% like Rumiko Takahashi's art style, but OVA 13 looks like ass and lacks the spirit of it. Now take this new Sailor Moon series, open up another tab, and read the sailor moon manga to find out the true issue with this anime...
This anime claims to be a perfect retelling of the manga since the last anime failed to adapt the episodes in the same format as the manga. However, none of the scenes even match the panels of the manga! Everything is just fucked up with this anime, but the worst thing I've seen....is Ami...
    OH MY GOD...AMI!
You will laugh at episode 2, LITERALLY, when you see that AMI of all people looks LESS like herself than a BACKGROUND CHARACTER WHO WAS MEANT TO LOOK NOTHING LIKE AMI!! That is just flat out bogus.
Sailor Moon Crystal is designed by a bunch of limping artists who OBVIOUSLY have one eye three inches higher than the other. These designers can't draw eyes to save their lives. This isn't me being brutal. This is me being honest. I'm a manga artist myself, and Naoko as well as Rumiko are my inspirations. From my experience, this is not acceptable.

So for now I'm going to continue watching Crystal because its true to the manga. I just started the show, crystal, I actually appreciate that they SOUND like teen girls. I love dic dubb from our childhood, but come on, yes the actors did a fantastic job, but they didn't sound like kids, teen girls.. They sounded like they were 19-25?... I understand the squeaky voice is annoying, but it is important and helpful to distinguish of what characters are kids, and which ones are adults, it also makes it easier for the kids watching the show to relate to the characters if they sound similar to there age, with the 90's dub they sounded like mentors, aunts, big sisters for kids watching the show.
I personally want to take my time watching crystal, but I'm praying that I'll come to love BOTH versions of Sailor Moon. Also, it's GOOD Sailor Moon got rebooted, so kids from the new generation can discover her!
The art style of Crystal, it's not that bad... They actually look like teen girls, the art style in the 90's made them appear much more mature than their actual age. Just look at a side by side of 90s Sailor Moon and Crystal Serena..
The transformation song, for crystal I actually enjoy. I think Crystal is basically... You'll either love it or hate it.

Maybe I'm just used to Usagi's voice from the old series, but it really doesn't bother me all that much. I've been watching subbed anime for well over 15 years, and I've heard way more annoying voices than Kotono Mitsuishi's. I think having her back was a plus actually. It connects this new series, with a new animation style and "new" versions of old stories with the classic series.
The new show really does depart from the classic series and like you said, more closely follows the manga(with a few exceptions). This has pluses and minuses; On the plus side, we get to see how the original creator intended for us to see her vision, we get better pacing and we get to see a timeline in Sailor Moon that actually works. On the negative, the inner senshi really were lumped together as one character for most of the series. We needed those superfluous filler episodes the classic series had to flesh out the girls as characters.
The transformations bothered me at first, but I got over it.
The animation had issues, I will never contest that. Although you have to admit that the classic series had it's fair share of inconsistent animation too. I'm glad that they are correcting the issues for the bluray releases, but it would have been nice if the final product was ready by the time it aired.
Overall though, I was just so pleased to have more Sailor Moon. I thought the animation(when it was good) was gorgeous, the musical score was perfect, and I loved seeing the manga come to life in a way that I never imagined it would.

From what I've seen I didn't think the reboot is that bad. It just feels a bit too fast for my taste though. Its definitely not like what they did with Speed Racer (the anime). They totally messed that up for me but whatever.
At first I felt Usagi's voice in the Japanese version was annoying. After a while though it stopped bothering me. The English dub voices, however, kind of threw me off after S. Some of the voice actors were changed and it didn't sound quite right. I still watched though and I enjoyed it. I kind of wish they'd have redone that version without cutting it up so much but still, once again whatever.
I get that people want the same. I think the new version following the manga more closely is interesting. I kind of like it and, yeah, I'd watch it. I just hope they don't mess up the final part of the Queen Beryl story arc. When I read the manga (translated version online) I actually cried near the end of it. Its kind of hard to pull off though.

the only thing i have about this review is about the comment on bringing back the old voice actors, for over 200 episodes in the original anime, Kotono Mitsuishi was used for Usagi, as with most series, once people have heard said VA for that time, they're pretty much used to think of Usagi being portrayed by Kotono. so once a 20th anniversary retelling/manga following is underway ofc nostalgia will set in and would want all the original VA's to reprise their old characters. Hell even Dragonball Z kai and the new dragonball super have done the same thing.

I think the best point of comprision would be "FMA Brotherhood" which was also meant to be a condensed version more close to the original manga story after a sucessful but looser adaptation was made earlier, yet looked pretty, didn't suck and stuck to the soul of the original.

You know? I quite like it myself. And I think there are many reasons to like it.
For one, unlike the original, we get to see this as it was originally made, without being altered by dubbers. It's like the difference between the original Scriptures of the New Testament, a children's Bible and the Knox Bible. You'll always lose something in a translation, but you want to lose as little as possible, and keep as much as possible. Bonus in that it is more or less lifted from the manga.
For another, you want more of the same? This _is_ more of the same. It's a retelling of the same old story that has already been told twice already. And you know what? I agree; I quite like it. It's like being told any faery tale again and again and again. It's nostalgic. It's fun. It's adventurous. I dunno. I like it, too, though.
A third: I think the designs are superior in one way. Yes, derp legs. Animation trying to be 3D and all that. (I actually think it works pretty well.) But I _reeaally_ like their faces. The animators got those just right. They're *gorgeous* faces. Especially the girls. Mind, this is coming from a straight man's perspective, but I think that is a huge improvement over the flat colouring of the original.
Fourth, I like the new theme. Granted, it pretty much says, "This is a reboot." But it also says, "And we're proud of it." And I agree with it. If you don't want a reboot, that's fine. Takes all sorts. But I quite like and enjoy it.
The reasons you don't like PGSM Crystal, I understand, and you make some good points I really didn't notice. But on the whole, I don't see why you're getting caught up on those things. The creators are basically giving you what you're asking for. Nothing substantial has changed. They've just made it look "prettier". And that basically seems to be what you want. More of the same. What does it matter if it gets a new coat of paint?

okay i know this video is like two years old but to me it sounds like some fans got their pants in a twist (i'm not being mean here, i'm purely saying my opinion here) and Toei Animation made Sailor Moon Crystal to follow the manga better then the 90's did and because it was 20 years ago that Sailor Moon came out (i know by today it's more like 22 or 24 years ).
And now to the voice part, maybe they could only get in contacted with Mitsuishi Kotono and the other original voice actors/actress could they not get in contact with in time for the reveal on the 20th anniversary day for Sailor Moon. Now this is just my thoughts on it. Plus i have gotten used to Mitsuishi Kotono's voice, she is Usagi Tsukino to many sailor moon fans :)
For the Animation all i have to say is, Sailor Moon Crystal was pushed back for a long time until they made it look pretty and presentable for the viewers new and old. And the 3D Transformation were only for the two first acrs in the Manga that being the Queen Beryl Arc or Dark Kingdom Arc and the Black Moon Arc, after that they made it into 2D in the new season :) and they putted some references from the 90's Transformation into the new Transformation (it's there if you just look and remembered the Transformations from the 90's)
Sincerely from a Danish late 90's kid, learning about Sailor Moon on the internet over the years ~

The villians? Totally interchangeable. An old nephrite episode made me cry. A month ago. In this one you could switch Jadite with Zoisite and it wouldn't require a script change. And Usagi's mouth is too small most of the time. It's distracting. She looks like she has to live on M&M's. To be fair I haven't read the manga so maybe this incarnation is more faithful. So true on the story changing point. While old Sailor Moon had a lot of filler to the point of being too much and too repetitive, it had really good characterization due to the extra time given to expand on the characters. We really got the time to know them. SMC does the complete opposite and rushes the story to the point of making the characters have like zero characterization. They're all just kind of interchangeable and they do practically nothing, they just praise Usagi the whole time, and she's the only one who gets any character development.

For me, I felt like Crystal really lacked on Character Relationships. Its all serious. No fun and games. I feel it lacks a human feel to it. That and the crappy animation, and Sailor Moons voice X____X I have to completely agree with you. For a while there I was worried it was just me.

notice how she didn't say the real REAL problem with the new series and thats the fact that they messed up the original manga story. I'm not hating just that's a major issue.

I like your video. the ending is scary though. lol. I totally agree with you on the style. what I want is a better details and on going of the series. not this overtly girly look. before both guys and girls love SM. but now it seems like SMC aims only for girl. so sad.....

I like Crystal but the animation could be better, I feel like Toei, I do like the CGI transformations it makes them look more like it takes place in a different dimension.

people being able to like the new crystal adaptation is people who are good at adapting to change. which is not me! i am perfectly fine watching the 90`s sailor moon over and over again. I DONT LIKE CHANGE!!!! lol

Now with Crystal finishing up the Dark Kingdom and Black Moon Clan Arcs after a year from this, i think Crystal is below average so i still prefer the first anime a way more. The animation is just bad, but then the Blu-Ray versions came out and saw the screenshots its was better, tho there were still have some derp shots here and there. it's not perfect by any means.

Mmmm... Nope. Crystal has a lot of very good things. It deserves a chance and it deserves being loved for what it is. Also, thankfully most of the wonky animation its going to be fixed for the blu ray release. And that is a common practice with modern animes, so... It´s not even because people unleashed a storm in a glass of water because of the animation.
So... there are a lot of very good things and story elements unique to the manga that really could have made the original anime even more amazing had they been animated. I thought we would never get them animated. And then Crystal came and the opportunity is there. Granted, its not perfect, but we have saturday morning cartoons again, we get to relive the story all over again, we get to experience the Sailor Moon mythos without too much filler.
I´m loving Crystal to bits, flaws and awesomeness. Bask in its moonlight. It´s good.

K I watched your video and it was pretty good and I can understand that Sailor Moon don't have the same qualities as Sailor Moon Crystal and we want the same Sailor Moon Back but it was pretty good pretty good what you said but I really want the old one back to from the original to putting it a good again cuz it's unfair that Dragon Ball has the same thing as the DVDs but if we keep on believing it in our hearts it could be fixed in no time thank you for letting me watch this video I hope I could I could see more of your videos meaning what can we do that affects the animation of Sailor Moon Crystal or Sailor Moon

I actually really like crystal and really want it to continue and if people will just whine then why the hell are you watching and go watch your original if you hate it so much some people actually enjoy crystal and if you people will just bring it down how will we who like enjoy it??? Jeez what if some people didn't like your favourite amines and it just stopped because of all the hate?? What's with all the negativity why can't we just watch an anime and be grateful for it and think about the creators having I deal with this hate.
