STOP doing this CHEST EXERCISE!

- If you are doing chest flys like this, you need to stop immediately. Not only does this not align the resistance at all with your upper chest fibers, making this more of a front delt exercise rather than a chest exercise, but it also looks like you’re one of plankton’s weak ass slaves who carelessly claimed a free chum bucket bucket helmet with the purchase of one or more krabby patties. So to improve this, raise the cables up and take a staggered stance aligning your forearms with the cables, then press the weight forward and up in the same direction of your upper chest fibers, so that your arm path, the resistance and fiber orientation are all in alignment. Doing this will not only make you look like that badass monkey raising up baby simba in the lion king, but it will also allow you to lengthen and shorten your upper chest to its greatest degree making this a much more effective exercise.

Standard flies are less hypertrophic. You should be turning them more into a press-fly.
Presses are better tho.

That’s more of a press than a fly, instead of bringing your arms backwards quite close to your body, have your elbows further out and have a obtuse bend in your arm, and then bring your arms forward, this allows there to be a much better ROM and targets your chest a lot better
presses are already better than flys for chest growth so i think what he’s doing is good
@@Shan-sk8pf I think both are great, I’d personally do chest presses on the actual chest press machine because I get alot more stability from it, unless you bring a bench over to the cables and do your chest press there, however I find that to be too much hassle so I just prefer to use the machine :))

You're actually wrong bro. Keeping the elbows close to the body allows you to lengthen the pecs much more- you will also be able to generate much more force as the pecs leverage off of the rib cage.
If you want the best bang for your buck you should be turning your standard flys more into a press-fly variant. Pressing with the cables and then squeezing the rest of the way like a fly to get the pec fully short.
Standard flies will only be a mid-short position movement whilst the press-fly will train all ranges.
@@bobithpopit3193 I see where you’re coming from but I already to flies and chest presses in the same workout, for me I just feel it a lot better when doing flies with a very wide bend in my arm rather than having my elbows quite tucked into my body, I suppose it’s just each to their own

I get what you’re saying but just different movements. Comparing a fly and a press. I think the first exercise is improved by pushing your chest out and full retracting your shoulders. Also works better on certain cables better. I’d also recommend doing an incline fly instead

Yeah I always felt something was off with that exercise, like it actually stressed my shoulders more than my chest. Later I learned that leaning on an inclined bench gives a much better angle for the pull-ups, but I’ll definitely try your alternative.
I’m hooked on your videos and especially your SpongeBob clips. You see I was just crossing the street from my job six years ago to get my bus back home when I got hit by a distracted driver who was on their cellphone and I was thrown forty feet away. I had a traumatic brain injury and broken bones and I was in a coma for three weeks afterwards and it was SpongeBob that helped me get through the months of my recovery and I even got an autographed picture of him from the creators of my hero. Well I skipped my workout because I don’t work out on Monday nights because it’s too busy but I will be back in the gym tomorrow. I hope you have a great week ahead 💪☘️

you can do it in a fly style if you want, what matters is that your movement is horizontal slightly upwards. making a movement that is too vertical will recruit the front of the shoulder and not the upper pec

It's a cable upper chest press. Can be used as alternatives for working with heavy loads. It's definitely a good one but people will complain as it is not a chest fly

Next, doing a decline fly is legit to target the lower pecs so they "pop out."
