    This is what I love bout this channel, they do stories on animals that others don't. I've never even heard of a bush dog but it looks like a an interesting animal. Thanks Terra Mater for introducing this animal to me and plenty of others.

      Maned wolves are beautiful I saw one at my uncles farm in northern minas gerais Brazil in the cerrado grassland they live on

    The spread of coyotes into central and south america along with marauding packs of feral dogs puts these lil fellas at serious risk.

      Coyotes are native from Alaska to panama and maybe even northern Colombia they been able to thrive cause of the way they adapt to urban environments I see them all the time here in Florida when driving at night, they prefer quiet neighborhoods with lot of tree cover and plants like coconut grove and coral gables in Miami I’ve heard some neighbors even leave food for them at night

      White vinegar is actually good for neutralizing the scent of pet urine from carpet, etc. Bush Dog urine probably neutralizes other animals urine odors in their territory.

      @@terramater It was a night, and I was driving in my development, Busca Vida in Abrantes. There is the ocean to the east, around 1000 meters, and many lakes in my development. I will keep my eye open for these little guys.

    Unlike the metatherian carnivores that preceded them, the bush dogs have avoided extinction by being small, adaptable and filling an omnivorous niche. So they’re not dependent on a few prey species for survival.

    I’m skeptical that they have an alpha pair, since that model of family unit has been disproved in other canines. Instead I hypothesize that their system is more based on age.

    Alpha male and female...are you sure it's not just the head of family, mom and dad? That's how wolves function, and the scientist who described 'alpha member' later on want to correct, saying it was just the parents/eldest leading.
