To those saying it’s not acting; the point is about his devotion to getting the scene done and playing his part. Yes you’re right, the stunts are real, but it’s the combination of the stunt and his actual commitment to delivering something to the ordinary person sitting on their ass watching TV on their sofa is what’s impressive. Many or most stars would hire a double or chicken out. Not Jackie.
Wow, I never imagined he suffered real life injuries during filming. This man sacrificied his body in order to people enjoy his films. He truly deserves an Oscar!

Yes, you'll notice that a lot of these scenes show credits... he always put accident footage at the end of the movie when the credits were rolling.
That was the best part of finally getting US released Jackie Chan films in the 90s and 00s... staying in your seats as most people were leaving the theater and seeing the crap punishment that he suffered for his craft to bring you that movie.
He did, was awarded a lifetime achievement Oscar in 2016

I gave Tom Cruise a lot of respect for doing his own stunts. But Jackie Chan did his stunts with no safety gear and on a shoe string budget. No to mention, he didn't have a multi-million dollar stunt team choreographing and testing the stunts and gear that Tom had. Jackie Chan was the stunt choreographer, director and actor. A lot of his stunts, he did with little or no preparation due to financial constraints.

I heard that Jackie got sent to the hospital after the first shot and the team let other stuntmen for 2nd and 3rd try. Then, they want Jackie to do it again after he recovered.
The funny thing is they used the first one when movie release.
Jackie has calculated the danger it brings before he do it. Sometimes w/ stuntmen sometimes he himself.
Calculation, which means beside from gravity's effect on his accelerating fall, chances that a branch may break, a broken glass may pierce his eyes or a circular saw may rip his groin he also measure his body durability, flexibility, speed and agility and also his martial art or parkour skills.
