I would love to travel back to this era.

Yes. Absolutely. Yes. All the men and women wore hats with shined shoes and no cell phones and a bowl of soup for 25¢ and a cup of coffee at a greasy spoon. The National Anthem is sung properly instead of hip-hop style and people saluted with a hand over their hearts. Baseball uniforms are made out of pure wool and baseball players never cheat - unlike Democrats who probably never played baseball.
This was 1947 - right after WWII and before the Korean War. A half a year later, Captain Chuck Yeager broke the sound barrier. The greatest generation had vanquished the evil from Europe and Asia. Life was good and getting better, even though we still had Truman doing the bidding of the military industrial complex. Then we had Ike, who didn't go to war for 8 years and ended the Korean War. Life was good.

Me too! Always did since boyhood. They didn't give her enough work as far as I'm concerned. She should have made many more movies than she did.

this one one of those very rare instances when the radio adaptation is actually BETTER than the movie. The story benefits greatly from the LACK of the weird choral music and distracting trick photography that dominated the movie. It's a great story, and both Totter and Montgomery are great performers, but the contrived "style elements": of the movie obscure their terrific screen personalities. ThIS adaptation is GREAT -- and I JUST saw the movie on TV an hour or two ago.
