  • First year architecture student project, finishing my BRIDGE DESIGN and submitting my end of term portfolio. What is it like studying architecture at university? A vlog inside my undergraduate architecture studio at the University of Cambridge. Actually, it's the FOURTH VLOG in the ongoing series so check out the rest!

    Silver MECHANICAL PENCIL I use for my drawings --- amzn.to/3ar7TJe
    If I didn't live in my actual 15th Century college building, I would be looking for a student house on Amber Student bc its easy to use and bills are included -- amberstudent.c... -- if you do too, please make an account using that link - doing so will support this channel and enable me to continue to make these videos:)

    Good work. I’ve done Law but my passion was architecture but I had to abandon that on account of being unable to draw anything beyond a straw man

    When you draw, what pencil do you use and how do you erase mistakes that it still comes out neat?
    Yes, how can one become a neat architect student?

    • @CallumHenderson
      @CallumHenderson  Před 3 lety +3

      It’s called the Kuru Toga, it’s a mechanical pencil - link is in the description. Anddd in all of those drawings I drew in pencil, went over in fineliner and when I digitalised them I bumped up the levels in photoshop to remove the texture of the page. (Might do a video on that trick it’s v quick and such a lifesaver). I think in general, it’s just about being meticulous but messy means lots of ideas so I think it has its own merits 🙃

  • @aymbeast1423
    @aymbeast1423 Před 3 lety +1

    How creative do you need to be to do architecture or do you need to be Good at drawing or does it come with practice???

    • @CallumHenderson
      @CallumHenderson  Před 3 lety +1

      I think enjoying being creative is the key. The degree aims to challenge and improve your creative process. Certainly your creativity and drawing skills improve through the course. It’s not generally necessary to be the next Hockney but you do need a strong baseline. This is something you can practice though before you apply definitely!

    Hi, how long does it take you to study Architecture? I've been watching your videos for a long time and I haven't found the answer to this question anywhere. I am from the Czech Republic and our education is really very different: D

    • @CallumHenderson
      @CallumHenderson  Před 3 lety +1

      Actually I answer in the US vs U.K. video but the shortest is 7 yrs from high school to an architect. It’s 5yrs university + 2yrs internship.
