We need to change our government and parliamentary system. Why do Canadians love the status quo and are so fearful of change?
I agree our old british parllamentary system has to many loop holes for guys like Turdo to thrive in. We need to be able to vote directly for our leaders. As flawed as the US system is with some safe gaurds built in we should change to something closer to that. Problem is we don't have the will or the power to make that change. I think Canada as we once knew it is gone for ever. We are heading straight for the Canadian Comunist party. The addvancement of computer tech such as AI is eccellerating the process.

A pension for long serving politicians should be what seniors get as their pension.
If they want more money then they should work. As a former high profile politician I don’t think they’d have trouble getting a job.
Why should working tax payers pay more than a standard pension for someone who can work?
Not to mention the fact they wouldn’t be strapped for cash to begin with after getting a huge politicians paycheck for many years.
It’s decadent reckless spending. Politicians are meant to be in it to serve the people not themselves. If they’re in it for the money it’s worse than standard job related greed, because the money is coming from the tax payers they’re meant to be serving.
Almost all of whom are far less wealthy than they are.
Work? Sometimes on the board of directors of a medium company and sometimes as an invited celebrity on a talk show. Or sometimes in a law, engineering or medical center if it has a law, engineering or medical degree.

The best thing the Trudeau Liberals could do for Canadians is call an election ASAP. Canadians have lost confidence in the Trudeau Liberals and their coalition NDP government. The Liberals and NDP are more concerned about their pensions than doing the right thing for Canada. You notice the older Liberals deserting the ship and arranging jobs for themselves in the civil service, diplomatic service or the private sector . They know that the Liberals are done. Why not more than 20 points? I have seen polls that the Liberals are even slightly trailing the Conservatives in Quebec. It goes Bloc, Conservatives, Liberals.
All these MPs need to do is spend six years as an MP and then get these outrageous pensions. Many of them don't even do the job they were voted in to do i.e they are not working for and/or listening to their constituents. What about the hard working folks that spent their entire working lives having deductions taken off, paying taxes who then retire and then still have to pay for these undeserved pensions while some get barely enough to live on. Disgusting!

Justin has gotten fewer and fewer votes in each successive election. In the last one, out of all eligible voters, about 55% voted. 33% of those votes went to the LPC, hardly a mandate. The NDP got far less than that and the CPC got more than the NDP.
