  • In this episode we Focus On, Jim Park discusses his impressions of the CT680L's driving experience. Specifically, he highlights the various driver amenities and cab features that reduce cab noise and make the driving experience pleasant.
Cat's new axle-forward CT680L is a work truck, make no mistake, bit Cat's approach is obviously that drivers shouldn't suffer for their craft. The CT680L is quiet and comfortable and includes some great driver amenities. Loads of storage space in the cab for all the small stuff, a dashboard that won't eat pens and cell phones and things you place up there and tremendous visibility.

Does it have a Cat motor? I really miss the Cat engines.

+Roger Gordon Hey Roger, the engine is actually a derivative of the International Maxxforce 13 engine,; more or less the same hardware but with programming that Cat says makes it feel like a Cat. While I didn't have the two engines to compare side-by-side, I can say if fells different from the International version. How much like a 3406 I can't really say. It's been a while since I drove one of those. I can say this engine has a ton of grunt down in the lower side of the rpm band.

+Jim Park ..Jim..All the low end pull makes it sound like a Cat. Ive been working in gas hauling in the San Francisco area. Constant stopping and starting and a lot of starting from a dead stop on stiff grades. No engine out performed a Caterpillar when it came to getting going on a hill. ..I enjoy your videos. Especially the one where you got to drive the Mack B model. Great to look at, but those old Macks had to be brutal on the driver.

+Roger Gordon from what i gathered from talking with finning guys, it has a cat bottom end with international head. allowing it to meet emissions requirements.

Is CAT considering branching out and building a Sleeper Conventional in the future? I know a lot of drivers who would love to see that.

+Ryan Shierling Hey Ryan, the guy I was dealing with at Toromont Cat in Toronto says Cat is always listening to its customer feedback. He says aftermarket bunks are available but Cat has no immediate plans to release a sleeper version. Having said that, Cat certainly would tell me about their model release plans for the next couple of years. I was told they are not looking to focus on OTR trucks, so any sleeper they come up with could be a bolt-on and probably a smaller one at that.

+Ryan Shierling i saw a cat truck with an integrated sleeper a few weeks ago, i don't know if it was aftermarket or not, but it looked professionally done

+Mikhail Alexandrovich yeah it looks like a rebadged prostar lol unfortunately it looks like CAT is no longer making trucks so it looks like we'll never have a 100% pure CAT truck.

www.franceroutes.fr/actualites/quand-les-durs-prennent-la-route/ Here's is an aftermarket which put a big sleeper on it, it would be very cool a CT680 or CT660 with a C15

These things are garbage, I would take a in a Kenworth, Peterbilt, Mack over this any day . I’d rather have a Cummins, or Mack engine than a fake CAT max force engine as well .
